Mumbai, August 1 (IANS) Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who will next be seen in "Shuddh Desi Romance", says he never tried to hide his relationships.
"I am very transparent about my relationships. I mean I will not hesitate to say that I am in a relationship," Sushant told reporters Thursday at the launch of "Gulabi" song from his forthcoming romantic comedy "Shuddh Desi Romance" here.
The actor is dating Ankita Lokhande, his co-star from TV show "Pavitra Rishta".
Maneesh Sharma-directed "Shuddh Desi Romance" talks about various conflicts which come up in a relationship and Sushant said he has also experienced it.
"Four years ago when I met Ankita, I had the same conflicts... when you are with someone who you love, everything seems great. This process goes on," he said.
Talking about the film, he said: "Here the emotions are very real. Everyone who falls in love has these thoughts. These things have never been told in such an honest way."
The actor describes "Shuddh Desi Romance" as a different love story.
"In the last 20-25 years, all love stories have been shot outside India and everything is very perfect. The minute details are not shown. This movie talks about coflicts between love and commitment," he said.
The film also stars Parineeti Chopra and introduces Vaani kapoor. It is set to come out Sep 6.
Yash Raj Films has a penchant for launching new actors and this time, with Shuddh Desi Romance(SDR), the studio is launching yet another newcomer, Vani Kapoor. The young actress will be making her debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. The film also features Parineeti Chopra. Kapoor was accompanied by Rajput at the launch of the first song of the film,Gulabi. Here's what happened at the do.
Sushant Singh Rajput on SDR
We've watched many love stories on the silver screen but not THE love story. When I read the script of this film, I realised it was about true love, the feeling you get when you propose a girl, when you keep wondering if she's the one you want to marry and the jitters when you're in love. This film is about three people who want to live life on their own terms. They believe in love but not in marriage. Our film presents the issues of love and commitment in a desi way and that's why it's called Shuddh Desi Romance.
Rajput on his character
I play a local tourist guide. The film has been shot entirely in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It's a beautifully designed character and the director Maneesh helped me get into the character and work on my body language. We attended a month-long workshop before we started shooting the film.
Vani Kapoor on SDR
It's a lovely film and very special to me. Only I knowki maine kitne papad bele iss film ko paane ke liye. But I really liked the story. When I initially began to play the character, it was hard because in real life, I am very different from her. But I slowly got the hang of it.
Kapoor on how she landed SDR
I had come to Mumbai for a shoot when someone told me that someone was casting for a film. In Delhi, we have a different perception towards Bollywood and was wondering whether to audition or not after I got the call. But when I arrived, I saw Shanu Sharma was a woman and that was a relief! She asked me if I could act and I said 'no'. She asked me what I would like to do if not act, and I joked and said I would become Miss India (laughs). Then she said not every Miss India becomes an actress nowadays. She then made me dance for two hours. After that, I left as I had to take a flight but before I reached the airport, she called and said I had got the part! After that, I really worked hard to impress Maneesh Sharma.
Kapoor on Maneesh Sharma
Sushant Singh Rajput is a household name and a great actor. Then there is Parineeti Chopra, who has delivered brilliant performances in all her films. Above all, I am a big fan of Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baraat, so I didn't want his film to get affected because of me. So I worked really hard to get into the character. The workshop helped me improvise on my acting as I don't have acting experience.
Rajput on his love life
I relate to my character very easily because I felt the same feelings four years ago when I met Ankita (Lokhande). I am sure many youngsters will relate to the film. But the story doesn't stop there. The story is about what happens after you fall in love.

A few weeks ago, the rumour mill had it that Farah Khan had approached television actress Ankita Lokhande for her next film Happy New Year, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Apparently, Farah later dropped the idea. When we asked Ankita's beau Sushant Singh Rajput to comment, he said, "I know she was considered for this film. It's a big film and it feels good that she was considered. She is talented and good-looking. I have asked her if she wants to do films but she is not keen right now."
Rajput says it is difficult for a television actor to make the transition to the big screen because it is tough to change perceptions. "Ankita is very talented and very beautiful and I am sure she will get the perfect break when the time is right."
Rajput himself was once a TV actor. So, will he return to TV serials, if given the chance? "Of course! I don't work for fame and money, I work for the passion of cinema. So it doesn't matter if I am acting in films or on TV or doing theater. The day I stop getting interesting work in films, I will return to TV. Right now, the television industry knows I am doing two to three films, so they are not offering me any.
