Clearly the makers are clued into IF posts. Today Arjun echoed the opinions that have been aired on this forum time and again. He told Purvi on her face that it was her self-effacing quality that was at the root of all the problems. He told her that he had made a mistake in accepting to do what she wanted. He expressed regret for all that happened. He spelt out exactly what he felt for Ovi plain and simple. That he loved her as a friend and nothing more. And yet, thanks to the stup[id promises he made to Purvi, he had tried to fulfil his marital vows half heartedly. But all the effort was in vain because Ovi saw through them. Like she always would. If only Arjun had displayed this clarity of though that night on the clifftop or even after that silly party, at least Ovi and he would have been spared all the heart break. Finally he has been able to put his guilt behind him and wants to move on. He urges Purvi do so too. The affection and care that he still holds for this girl, despite all the pain she has put him through, is palpable. So far and no more though! He is not going to be emoiionally manipulated by her again. He wants to do right by Ovi finally by giving her the only thing he can give her wholeheartedly - her freedom. I hope some day Ovi and he are able to meet and talk of their past and bury their bitterness and maybe, just maybe, discover their friendship that was lost in the ruins of unrequited love. It is possible!
On Purvi, I am not given to physical violence but today, she really made me want to slap her. After making the man jump thorugh hoops all along, she tells him that he has not tried enough! Did she live with them through the course of their marriage? How does she even know what happened between the two? Most importantly, knowing Arjun simply does not love Ovi, why does she expect these repeated sacrifices from him? She is so low on self worth that she thinks of herself as less than human. But surely, she has no right to think the same of him. I think this whole conversation was again triggered off by her guilt. Archana told the family that her two daughters would not ever be able to make peace. Ovi could never forget and move on if she was forced to come back and live as Arjun's wife and come face to face with Pari and Purvi everyday. . She argued with her family on this. Pruvi, like always. saw herself and her daughter as the root cause of the conflict and wanted to set things right. Make things right for Archana and Ovi and of coruse, the world and his wife! So what if Arjun had to be sacrificed again, in the process.
However, what is interesting here is that Purvi believes that Arjun is the only person in the world whom she is entitled to ask things of. She is unable to do this even with Archana, her own mother and the one person in the world with whom you can take the most liberties with. So somewhere, she recognizes Arjun as the only one to whom her happiness and what she wants matters the most in the world!
Stupid woman does not realize that this entitlement stems from love. Such a love needs to be respected and treasured and not sacrificed at every turn!
Anyway. a rather decent episode primarily because Arjun spoke at last!
