The caliber of a Good actress/actor

There are so many posts over the past few months debating about the leap and Ankita refusing to play the part of a mother/grandmother.
Now we hear that she will play the role of her granddaughter!
When I read these, I now know the difference between TV and big screen actresses.
The caliber of any actor/actress is the ability to play any role perfectly.
Part of the whole scenario includes the creative use of makeup etc.
So when actresses gripe about 'looking old' I lose respect for them as professionals. They only want to be seen as a pretty face on TV as if it is a beauty contest.
If they want to move on to the big screen they certainly need to change their perspective.

I agree! Any actress worth her salt would not hesitate to play older roles, as long as shes the focus of the show. Prerna did it in KZK, Parvati did it in KGGK. In movies all great actresses have done older roles even in young age, like Sharmila, Nutan, Rakhee...its a challenge for any good actress to prove her talent!

That's exactly what I mean Palavi.
Yes, we love the actresses for their good looks, but looks are nothing compared to the real ability to act a role convincingly!
However we have a standing joke in our family about the habit in Indian soaps to focus on the faces of the actresses/actors as if that is enough to capture the essence of the story rather than facial expressions, body language, use of voice etc.

That's why we can go for vacation and return and follow the stories easily! It makes it boring and shows that the writers are literally stumped for ideas!

I would agree with you only if producers/directors routinely cast 50-60 year old actresses to play 20 something women.

But that is unthinkable, for producers/directors only 20 something actresses should play grandmothers or mother to adult children roles . And if they don't want to then this lame argument about "actresses should be versatile and play any age character" is brought up.

You see an old actor cannot be make up to look young. she may not be able to do the young role because of he outlook, her capabilities at a certain age etc. However, a younger actor can be made up to do an older person role and should be able to handle it with distinction because she should be more capable and healthy enough. It is not unthinkable for young actors to play older roles. they would definitely be credited and deem talented to play multiple roles. They will still get to dress fancy and show their beautiful faces outside of the tv role that they are playing.

The point is any actor or actress shd be able to play any age, like Sanjeev Kumar played all ages when he was only in his 30s... he played 50-60 yr olds. Same with Sharmila in Aradhana, Rakhee, Nutan etc.
How can 50 yr olds play 20 yr olds? Maybe 30-40 yr olds, because nowadays women dont look that old due to good maintainance and makeup. 😉 Even when superstar heros who are 48-49 play 20 yr olds they look ridiculous! 😆
But yes, 30 yr olds can play 50-60 yr olds convincingly. Theres something called continuity in serials...if the same actress plays the role throughout, as heroine, then mother, then grandma, then its more convincing. Nobody likes to age but no one can stop aging, can they? Same is true in serials.

So many serials come and go. So many actresses come and go. Some really beautiful, some not so much! But not every serial or character becomes equally popular. So give some credit to the actor/ actress whose acting skills and beauty and x-factor which touches the audience hearts.
AnkitA has portrayed the character of Archana in a way which has made her hugely popular. She is not just another pretty face on TV , even as a debutant she stood out. You have very right not to respect her or like her . And she has every right to make her choices in life.
She does not want to play an old lady at this stage. It was her choice. She left the show , she could have been easily replaced but she was brought back.
Neither shweta tiwari nor sakshi tanwar looked old in their shows even when they were grandmothers in their serials.
And many serials close down because the actors refuse leaps.
So ankita is no exception.
People may like to call her names in this forum or twitter or any other place. But nothing or no one can take away her achievements.
Comparison with films is totally absurd because the length of the character in a serial is for months and years .
