Dear Soumya,

I loved your other post, as I told you, and I like this one just as much.

Especially the lucid delineation of the collateral damage if the truth were to come out now, and as much for Ovi and Pari as for Onir. The fallout for Purvi will of course be, as usual, minimal.

I find your approach to the whole baby swapping issue and to the calls for instant and fell retribution for Onir's 'crimes' so sensible and compassionate. Not like an Old Testament God of vengeance hurling thunderbolts from on high, but a reasoned, balanced assessment of comparative follies/ misdeeds in PR in the past, so as to restore a sense of perspective to the whole.

You never disappoint me, my dear!

I actually don't fault Varsha for kidnapping Soham at all. At least the last time. She was essentially a drug addict, her addiction being Soham. She knew that, and she even tried refusing to take him when Archana insisted in the party. Instead, Archana wanted to prove a point and thrust him on varsha and she lost her will and ran away with him. Soham's kidnap was solely archana's fault and to a lesser extent, manav's. It was their responsibility to take care of him being his parents, even if they didn't know about Varsha's obsession with Soham. Where I do hold Varsha responsible is letting Soham be raised by and into a hooligan, a crime-lord. She was educated, worked for a large part of her adult life (right?) in what I assume to be senior management positions and instead of using her education to make a life for herself and for Soham, she became a keep and even worse completely destroyed Soham's life. Soham honestly was in some ways in better hands with her since he was always her first priority, and if she had educated him and given him a good life where he could make choices for a career and lifestyle that did not involve becoming a bahubali I would have thought running away with Soham was the best thing to have happened to him. But, we can all see what she did make of him, and that is criminal in my eyes.

No arguments on Archana and purvi, they've both done whatever they wanted with the arrogance of feeling they're always right, destroying many many lives in the process. Nobody else can even reach to their level simply because they don't even stop to think that they might be wrong unlike all the others who at the very least acknowledge to themselves that they're doing wrong but still go ahead with it for whatever reasons. This is what makes archana and purvi both very powerful and very dangerous, because they're so confident they're never wrong ultimately their confidence wins over their victims accusations giving them more power to do more damage. Manav who had rightly held archana responsible for losing soham absolved her of all crimes when they met years later. He probably did it much before that because how can archana ever be wrong about anything when she's so confident she's not?

Sachu and Savita both committed crimes too. I think they did it for the right reasons from their perspective, they felt archana only caused havoc in their lives and she should be cut off altogether so she cant do any further damage. While I agree with the sentiment, the fact is that they did do crimes. And they got a slap and silence for their crimes. If you look from a different POV, they nearly succeeded in making life-changing decisions for manav and the twins without their knowledge, permission or acceptance. But since they had good intentions in trying to protect manav and the twins from archana and since I agreed with those sentiments, even the slap and the silence for Sachu and Savita seemed too much punishment especially the latter.

Onir did essentially the same thing. He did a crime, no doubt about that. But he did it with genuine intentions whether to continue to be in his mishti's good graces or to help Ovi, he did it and has so far stood by this decision even with his crazy wife and seemingly all the forces of the world trying to undo the situation. He can't go back in time and do things the right way, but he can make sure nothing changes the status quo in the present and in the future. What punishment should he get for his crime? And will it be his punishment alone? If the truth comes out, it'll be Ovi and Pari who will suffer the most for no fault of their own in this mess. Onir may or may not go to jail, he may get a slap or a garland, he may be banished or welcomed with aarti; either way, he will not be suffering more than Ovi who will not only have lost her own baby but also the baby she's come to love as her own, Pari. And if Pari is purvi's baby, then she should have been still premature raising doubts about her paternity which will lead to further and complete destruction of Ovi's life.

When the collateral damage is so much and to an innocent party at that, it is better Onir or purvi's crime of swapping the babies does not come to light at all. His punishment is staying away from the baby he clearly loves by taking away his wife to Kolkata, and this court-case giving him a wake-up call on how far he's gone off track. He is basically a good guy with a clear head, occasionally (now regularly) blinded by his love for the wrong person. But he has done a lot of good, and has the capacity to do still more, so for his own sake as well as for Ovi's and Pari's, I wish he's acquitted and goes back to Kolkata away from the circle of doom that is the Karanjkar-Deshmukh families. Pari is Ovi's daughter now, and so she should be for both their sakes.

As Afsara said DNA test is to prove paternity . But one thing is sure...ever since he has married Purvi all he does is frame tests ,swap babies etc . He was shown as a doctor of principles . He could mint money but he preferred doing social service and was content living in his ancestral home with his faithful old retainer Shambhu kaka and earning just enough for his needs . That was his character . This muck is Purvi's . This mess is hers , not his . Getting pregnant before marraige , seeing to it that the man who made her pregnant became her jeeju , then going on a frantic lying and hiding spree , dealing with blackmailers and sitting on the truth wherever it threatens to come out like sitting on something burning and diffusing it ...all is Purvi's doing .

I would have preferred if he had not supported her in her lies . If he had advised her to come clean once and for all and stood by her side quietly , not judging her as she took the flak . Once it was over , he should have offered her a life with him in Kolkata and she should have accepted understanding that he was one person who did not judge her and stood by her through thick and thin . In this way both their characters would have developed . Right now , they are battered .

Great post.I wish CVs made Onir's character the way you have described.

Depends . Ovi being hurt by the truth so the facade should go on can be one way of looking at it . Ovi knowing the unfortunate truth and having no more illusions about anything ...the baby or the husband ' picking up her pieces and starting afresh is another . She is young , healthy , beautiful and rich . Truth is very bitter but it makes you look clearly at life just as neem ka ras is good for the body . Raising your husband's love child innocently thinking its your own while your own is dead is getting trapped in the same vicious circle ...husband , his ex and getting whatever in life ...be it a husband or a baby , due to the ex ...is thick in my opinion .

Instead let the husband go back to the ex with their baby . Start life with a fresh person . My POV .

If not ...as sowmya says the baby is Ovi's now . Purvi should never get it , ever . But the CVs will not show justice ...so i preferred the truth coming out once and for all .
