And when I recently send something to the Mod my request was not to close down the thread. For really, the thread is not a fault, but the offenders. And some offenders repeatedly gets away with murder, nothing is said ever. Even on Sherma's thread, lot of name calling, but not a publicly issued warning...how is that for fairness????

Some time ago, I posed a question to you, to Jyothi to be precise. which is reproduced below for ease of reference. I got no response from you, not even a PM, and the only conclusion a rational observer could draw from that is that you did not tackle the question, which was a very pertinent one because

1) You did not know what to respond or
2) You did not want to act on it.

I had a high opinion of you all, and in this you disappointed me.

Since then, the particular problem that I had highlighted then has grown worse. The outpouring of hatred towards one of the characters, Ovi, has passed all bounds of decency, and there have been endless posts yesterday saying that the death of her baby was good as it was overdue punishment for her, and one even called for her to commit suicide. The only word fit for such effusions is 'vile'.

This is hate speech at its worst. and if the writers had been out in the real world, they would have been jailed in a jiffy, whether in India or in the US, and I am not indulging in kite flying. I am a professional diplomat and I know what happens in such cases. The normal right to free speech does not apply to hate speech.

Now what I would request you to tell me is why you, the MoDs, who seem to be so careful in policing the forum for name calling and bashing of characters, failed to see these hate posts,or take any action to warn the writers. I do not even mention the post where Ovi was called a frog.

These posts are not, like the acronyms about which there has been a warning now, something that " can be construed in a negative way". They are ugly, cruel and openly homicidal. And yet they seem to flourish without let or hindrance. I want, as an equal member of the IF, to be told why this is so.

Since you always display such commendable sensitivity to the feelings of forum members and to the bare possibility that they might be hurt, the question that arises is this. Is your total silence on this issue because you assume that if it is Ovi who is reviled in the most savage language, no one's feelings will be hurt? Or is it that it does not matter if they are?

I am not a fan of Ovi, or of Arjun-Purvi either. Or of this thread, come to think of it. I judge each issue on its merits.

So I can speak objectively, and what I see, as an independent observer, is that you are, by your lack of action on the hate posts, tarnishing your own reputation for fair play. If you want this forum to be made a free field for one particular fan group, it would be only fair to the rest to say so openly. Then they can stay away and leave the field free for those wanting Ovi to follow her baby into the grave.

I am not a cheerleader for anyone, nor am I, by now, at all interested in what happens to PR. But I had enjoyed being a part of this forum for a year now, but that was when no one indulged in this kind of violent hate posts, or was allowed to do so without being pulled up at once.

It is not just the forum that is not what it was, you mods are not what you were either. That is the saddest thing of all.

As an outsider and a non-participant in this particular debate, the one about the hunger strike, I would appreciate receiving an answer from you, on behalf of the Mods, to a related question that has been troubling me for quite some time now. I have been wanting to pose it to the moderators for a while, but somehow never got around to it.

Is it all right for members who are die-hard fans of Arjun and Purvi, and who naturally want them to get back together, to demand in their posts that Onir and Ovi should be killed to make this possible? Does this not constitute hate speech, and as such, should it not be stopped? This seems to be a recent development, and as one who has greatly enjoyed my year in this forum, I was frankly horrified to see such ugly demands being made openly.

As far as I can see, you issue warnings against comparing two characters, presumably on the premise that negative comparisons would hurt the fans of the actor who is being downgraded in the comparison.

By the same logic, how is it that such calls for two characters to be killed off are not considered hurtful to their fans, and why is it that, as far as I could make out, no warnings were issued in those cases? I would appreciate it if you could clear my mind on this point.

You are all doing a great job in what is basically a thankless assignment.It must be an exhausting and often exasperating task to be the moderator of such a huge and rambunctious forum as this one, and I can understand it if you cannot be everywhere all the time.

However, I also feel that all cases should be treated alike, and those crossing the line should be pulled up regardless of whose fans they are. I am sure you would not wish to give the impression that some people can get away with murder, metaphorically speaking!

Hunger strike might b funny for those who r not fan of the couple but those who r fan of the couple , it might b a bit sensitive issue for them .. not all hv same type of thinking .. there r different types of members in this forum ..some mayb practical , and some r emotional .. not all think in same direction .. So noone has right to mock a grp based on their decisions that they hv taken to unite their couple even if its not very logical ... Its all about respecting the sentiments of that grp and moving on if u dont agree .. there is no need to repeat the same sarcasm post after post for sadistic pleasure ..
