Chapter 9 (Final)

Archana headed downstairs while Manav went to wake Soham up. She stepped into the kitchen and saw Rajni in the kitchen prepping for the huge thanksgiving dinner later that night.

Rajni: Morning Bhabi, she chirped happily as she laid out various spices on the counter top.

Archana: A very good morning to you too!!

Rajni: Is Bhai up??

Archana: Yes he's gone to wake Soham up.

Rajni: Oh good I was planning on making pancakes-

Archana: oh no you don't worry about breakfast Manav will make pancakes and I'll get started on coffee. That's final, she said sternly as Rajni attempted to speak.

Rajni knew there was no point in arguing and continued with her work while Archana turned on the coffee maker pouring water in the machine.

Ishika came skipping in happily followed by Manav

Ishika: Good morning bua!!

Rajni: Good morning sweetheart!!

Manav: Good morning!! He greeted his sister giving her a quick side hug.

Rajni: Morning bhai, she grinned widely at him.

Manav: Soham's all set he should be done in a few, he updated his wife as she measured out dry ingredients for pancakes.

Archana: Hmm thank you baby, she said grinning at him before she returned back to the flour she was measuring.

Archana: Would you make the pancakes please, she asked holding out the bowl to him.

Ishika: Yayy are we having pancakes for breakfast!!??

Archana: Yes sweetie, she said with a chuckle gently pulling her daughters cheek.

Manav: I will gladly!!

Ishika: Daddy can I help!!???

Manav: Of course Ishiboo, come!! He picked her up placing her on the countertop

He took the bowl from her and measured out wet ingredients allowing Ishika to pour them into the bowl. The rest of the family soon joined for a fun filled breakfast. The kids gobbled up the chocolate chip pancakes while the adults enjoyed Manav's special nut filled pancakes.

It was soon time for the annual thanksgiving day football game that the men looked forward to every year and as usual they pinky swore to the grumbling women that they would help the ladies out with the extravagant dinner the second the game was over.

The game was a nail biter but unfortunately the team they were rooting for lost.

Soham dragged himself into the kitchen looking very upset.

Archana: Awww sweetheart they lost didn't they, she said spotting her very sad son, Soham simply wrapped his arms around the middle of her body burying his face into her, she gently ran her hand over his head still failing to understand why boys were so emotional and overly dramatic when it came to football. She caught Rajni's glancing at her and shook her head while Rajni controlled her laughter. Ajit, Manav and Sachin came in looking just as depressed.

Preeti: oh come one guys get a grip!! He's at least a child, but you are all fully-grown men!! She said irritated. It's just a stupid game.

All the men and Soham letting go of his mom turned to her gasping dramatically at the same time. Preeti crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, while Archana and Rajni looked at her in shock. It was usually a very bad idea to say such things about football in front of the guys.

Sachin: Preeti, he chocked out getting up slowly and dramatically how could you say that!! Football is what we live for!! He said clenching his heart dramatically.

Preeti: Haan I know nothing else even remotely matters in this world, she replied back sarcastically.

Sachin: well I can say the same about your stupid romantic drama movies na like oh yes the notebook.

Preeti: OH don't u dare, she yelled back.

Manav jumped up from his chair stopping Sachin from saying anything in response.

Manav: Now that's enough.

Archana: Haan, Preeti stop acting like a child she scolded her sister who scowled at her in response.

Manav: Same goes to you Sachin, he said sternly, Sachin rolled his eyes making a face at his wife.

The men kept their promise and helped the ladies out with the traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner.

They had purposely put Sachin and Preeti together at a table to finish cutting up veggies. They bickered away as quietly as possible but after awhile they were over it and happily talking to each other as they worked.

Archana: Those two na, one minute they're fighting the next they're all smiles she said with a chuckle to her husband who was standing next to her at the countertop mashing potatoes.

Manav grinned at her

Manav: Its what makes them unique as a couple isn't it, they both looked over and grinned to themselves as Sachin quickly placed a kiss on Preeti's cheek when she was looking away, she looked at him pleasantly surprised.

They returned back to their work. Ankita's hair began falling in her face as chunks slipped out of the clip she had used to pull her hair out of her face. She tried to push her hair back with the her shoulder as her hands were dirty, Manav looked over and saw her struggling with her hair, she groaned feeling defeated and passed a pleading glance to her husband, he smirked at her slyly setting the masher he was using down in the bowl. He walked behind her and gently removed the clip. He let his fingers gently run against her neck as he pulled her hair back slowly. Archana blushed and elbowed him discreetly in the gut.

Manav: What he!!?? He whispered in her ear.

Ankita: We are not alone, she snapped back.

Manav sighed and finally pulled her hair back returning back to the potatoes. He was pouting. Archana couldn't help but notice how adorable he looked when he pouted. She looked around and it looked like everyone was busy with his or her own work. She stood up on her tip- toes and kissed Manavs cheek soundly. Manav jumped in surprise and smiled at her pleasantly surprised.

Sachin: Ohhooo you two need to get a room, he teased causing Manav and Archana to jump in embarrassment as they found Sachin standing right behind them.

Archana: Oh really, why don't we talk about a romantic scene that took place over there he indicated the area where Preeti was sitting, Preeti blushed in embarrassment as she realized Manav and Archana had seen everything while Sachins facial expression quickly turned to fear and he gulped.

Manav: Hypocrite! He added in.

Sachin: Okay okay!!!, Im so sorry ill just go now, he said rushing out the kitchen. Preeti followed him out not wanting to deal with the teasing.

They all cracked up watching Sachin and Preeti run away like that.

Soon the table was set with a variety of thanksgiving dishes. The full size turkey had been rubbed with a mixture of Indian spices and stuffed with a mix of veggies also made with Indian spices sticking to their desi roots. There was mashed potatoes, different gravy's and sauces along with fresh homemade bread rolls. Dessert consisted of a variety of pies including the pecan one Sachin and requested, paired with creamy icecream. The family sat together enjoying the delicious meal and being thankful that they had each other for support in both good and bad times.
