Chapter 32: It's Only the Beginning
Recap:
Riya: *drags Arjun over* Look, so this is Ranvir. He and Purvi were childhood friends.
Arjun: And?
Riya: Well, Purvi just agreed to… marry him.
Arjun: *even more shocked than before* What!?
June 28^th, 2012: Deshmukh Residence, 9:45 p.m.
-Arjun: I'm not freaking out. I'm not freaking out. I'm not freaking out. Arjun, stop it. You know you're freaking out!
Riya: Haan, Arjun. Purvi's getting married… in 3 weeks.
Arjun: To—to him? This guy?
Riya: Arre haan! What's wrong with you?
Archana: Arjun! Riya! Come on na?
Riya: Coming! Chalo na, Arjun?
Arjun: *suddenly mad* No. I have some really important work to do. I have to leave. *starts walking*
Riya: Arjun! Can't it wait 5 minutes?
Arjun: No!
Riya: *taken aback*
Manav: Uh, hey Riya? Where's Arjun going?
Riya: I have no clue.
Manav: But what about the—
Riya: I'll get it to him tomorrow. He seemed really tired.
Manav: Okay… *mildly confused* *walks away*
-Riya: What's wrong with Arjun? I mean, before his behaviour was unclear, but now he's just really mad… but at what? The wedding? Why? What am I missing? I still haven't gotten an explanation for what happened to both of them… maybe?

June 28^th, 2012: Somewhere on the streets of Mumbai, 10:30 p.m.
-Arjun: Arjun. What is happening? What the hell is going on with you? Well for one thing, Purvi almost gets beat silly by this guy who she obviously knows, and then denies to tell me about it when I ask her who he is. And now she's getting married to the same guy—woh bhi willingly—that almost killed her. And where am I in this equation? I don't know. If I hadn't been there to save Purvi, where would she be today? What past does she have with this Ranvir guy?
Well Arjun, you have three weeks to find out.

June 29^th, 2012:Kirloskar Residence, 1:00 a.m.
*ring ring*
Riya: Hey dad.
DK: Riya? What's up? I mean, it's not so bad of a time here, but why are you up at… one in the morning?
Riya: I just got back from Manav uncle's house.
DK: What? Why so late—
Riya: *explains everything about Purvi and her marriage*
DK: Oh, wow. I'll probably get a call about this tomorrow from Archana.
Riya: Please act surprised.
DK: I'll try. Riya…. You sound tensed. What's wrong? Why are you calling me so late?
Riya: Well… dad. You know how I've been telling you about how Arjun has been really… well not normal lately?
DK: Yes… I do. What about it?
Riya: Well you know that it's true and so do Nikhil and I…
DK: Right…
Riya: But today, today he just blew my previous worrries out of the water! I can't explain it, but he's—dad, I'm worried.
DK: Riya, look. Give Arjun his time. Things will take time to make sense, but surely there is a reason for everything.
Riya: Dad, this—
DK: I know. I know. This isn't the first time you've noticed this. But Riya, he'll be fine.
Riya: I'm sorry to bug you about it. Again, I'm just really worried. But I got it, things will take time.
Dk: That's my girl. Look, if he ever, ever worries to a certain extent again, I'm hauling load over there to straighten out my son. Just give me a ring.
Riya: *tries not to laugh* Oh, dad.
DK: Bye now Riya. Get some rest.
Riya: Bye dad. See you soon. *hangs up*
Give it time, huh?
Over a Time of Two Weeks—Riya's POV
-Riya: Well, I'm giving it time. Looks like there was a lot more to Arjun's reaction to Purvi's marriage than I thought there was. Arjun and Purvi are hardly speaking to each other. When they do, it was in the short, ignorant tone they used before the conference a looong time ago. They pretty much ignored each other unless it was absolutely necessary that they converse. I'm not the only one that noticed this abrupt change in their behavior.
Then, about two days ago, Arjun and Purvi started arguing. In the midst of the argument, Arjun mentioned something about Purvi's marriage. I couldn't hear parts after that, but all I saw was Purvi almost leaving his office in tears. Sure, before they hardly talked to each other. Then after the conference they were like magically friends, but now, Arjun had almost made Purvi cry? I had to see what the reason was for this.
So, after seeing Purvi leave the office in that state, I barged inside Arjun's office. To hell with knocking. To my complete and utter surprise, Arjun wasn't doing too well either. He had his head down on his desk the way he did either when he was really confused and was thinking or when he was super stressed out. I hadn't seen him do this for a long time, actually. That's how I figured it out.
There was a lot more to this marriage than everyone thinks there is.
And Purvi's not budging.

Currently; July 10^th, 2012: Deshmukh Residence, 5:00 pm
Just After Purvi-Ranvir Engagement
-Purvi: I'm lost. I'm not even worried about what's happening in my life right now. I'm lost. I'm like a drowning swimmer, lost in a cast sea with no life saver in a reasonable distance. Dheere dheere it's getting worse. And it's not even the trust issue.
I always knew that after what Ranvir did, I could never trust him again. But look at me now. Purvi, you're about to get married to him. And truly, only you know the TRUE reason why.
After what Soham did, I wasn't sure I could trust anyone in my family to tell me anything anymore. If they couldn't even bother to tell me about my origins, then why bother about anything else? If they don't have the guts to tell me stuff about my own life, then why should I bother telling them truly why I'm being married off so quickly?
Now there's no hope left outside of my family either. I thought that maybe, just maybe Arjun would pull through for me. Maybe he wouldn't question Ranvir and maybe he would try and forget about what Ranvir did to me. But no. He won't let go of what Ranvir did to me so easily. He won't let go of my decisions to marry Ranvir so easily. It's not like I have the choice either. But what he did, two days ago, has assured me that I can't even depend on Arjun anymore.
Who do I tell about the ever-building dilemma within me? Am I overlooking anything?
Oh well. It's not like anyone cares about me anyways. I'm just mow engaged to Ranvir. In just 4 days time, I'll be married to Ranvir. And God knows that no one will ever know why.
Unless God doesn't know.
Unless God has a few twists up his sleeves.

-Arjun: I don't even know why I'm here. I've given up on every aspect and hope I had to figure out why Purvi's doing what she is. That's all I wanted to know. "Why are you marrying him? After everything he did to you?" But no. Even she's not willing to tell me why. I mean, technically it's not mandatory for me to be present at her wedding, right? So then why am I here? Hey, wait. Is that…?
Arjun: Seher? What's wrong?
Seher: *through sobs* Nothing.
Arjun: *sarcastically* Right. Because you're crying because nothing's wrong. Stop being a little girl now and tell me.
Seher:*through sobs* I am a little girl!
Arjun: Seher, don't start that. You know what I mean!
Seher: *through tears* *smiles* You're crazy, you know that?
Arjun: Mmm yes. Okay, but still. Tell me na? What's up?
Seher: *explains everything about Purvi and how she was abandoned and Soham and Siddarth and Viren and how Purvi is ignoring everyone*
*15 minutes later*
Arjun: Seher.
Seher: *through sobs* Mmm?
Arjun: It'll… be fine. I'm sure it will. There's a lot more to life than holding grudges. Frankly, I'm an expert about that.
Seher: *through sobs* You—you sure?
Arjun: Haan, I'm sure. You trust me na?
Seher: *through tears* *smiles* Right.
Arjun: Well, there you go. Now stop crying.
Seher: *wipes her tears and gets up to leave, but then stops and turns back* Bhaiya?
Arjun: Hmm?
Seher: You always know how to make my day better. Thanks.
Arjun: No problem princess.
Seher: *smiles*
Arjun: *smiles*
-Arjun: Holy… crap. There is A LOT more to Purvi than I thought. Looks like I'll have to stick around. If not for me, then for Seher.

July 10^th, 2012: Deshmukh Residence, 6:30 p.m.
Archana: Manav!
Manav: Nahin mili, Archana. I'm so sorry.
Archana: Sachin!
Sachin: Mujhe bhi nahin mili Aai.
Archana: *starts crying*
Manav: Sshhh. We'll find her. She can't have gone very far.

Purvi: Te—Teju? Did you find her?
Teju: No, Purvi. I'm sorry. I couldn't find her.
Purvi: Aur tum, Riya?
Riya: I'm sorry! I couldn't find her either?
Purvi: *bursts out crying*
Teju: Purvi! *puts her arm around her shoulder*
Riya: Aunty. Purvi. Theek ho jayega. Sachin aur Soham went to go look for her. She can't have gone very far.
*in background*
Arjun: Who?
Riya: Arjun! *looks at Teju, who was holding a still hysteric Purvi*
Teju: Why are you looking at me?
Arjun: Uncle? What happened? Why are they… uncle?
Manav: Arjun, Seher's missing.
Arjun: *faintly* What…?
Manav: Haan. She was here, and then she suddenly disappeared. Everyone checked the whole house.
Arjun: And you couldn't find her?
Manav: No, I'm afraid not.
Arjun: Are they looking for her?
Manav: Haan—wait where are you going?
Arjun: *stops in the doorway* To go look for Seher.

July 10^th, 2012: In the car—Arjun's POV
Just After Finding out Seher was Missing
-Arjun: Every second. Every minute. Every day. Every memory. It was like a flash through my mind as I raced through the streets looking for Seher. She was so little, so happy with life—what happened? Where could she go? I had just talked to her and then she goes missing? What the heck? What is the meaning of this?
The images of Purvi hysterically crying weren't helping either. It just made the situation 10 plus times worse. Wait,Arjun stop. Why the sudden show of affection towards Purvi? We were on the strict "ignore her" plan right? But she looked so fragile—and after everything Seher told me today it all makes sense.
It all makes sense.
Arjun. What if… no. It couldn't have been.
But no, it actually was.
It was all him.
The pieced of the puzzle fit together perfectly. And just frankly, I know where to find him.
Seher, don't worry.
I'll be bringing you back home today.
Hopefully, in one piece.
If not, then in two.

Great update esha...loved the way arjun was tensed about purvi...really want arjun himself to find seher...and im very eager to know abour arjun-purvi small talk...ur updates r alwazs full of suspense nah...i like that..update soon n great job👍🏼😊
