Flashback Part 2…
Early morning…Purvi wakes up and offs Archana's alarm clock. Archana is still asleep. She takes the pail and goes down to fill water. She is waiting in the queue when Soham approach's her.
Purvi :- What are you doing here? What if someone sees you?
Soham :- I don't care, I have to talk to you.
Purvi :- Ok, come.
Purvi takes him to the side.
Purvi :- What is it?
Soham :- Grandpa told me what you are planning to do later? Are you sure, you want to do this? I am very worried that it will cause you problems with the police. I cannot see anything happening to you. I don't mind going to prison.
Purvi :- No, you are not. That will never happen, don't worry this will not cause any problems for me.
Ovi is watching from her room, she is taking picture of them.
Soham :- Are you sure?
Purvi :- Yes, I have talked to a lawyer. He says everything will be ok. Dada, stop worrying about me and start worrying about you. Besides if anything happens to me, baba will get me out.
Soham :- If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be in this mess. So, don't talk about him.
Purvi :- Ok, now go before someone sees you.
Soham :- Everyone is a sleep, let me carry the water upstairs for you.
Purvi smiles at him. Soham helps her carry the water, he sees Manav in the hall sleeping. He is shocked that a big man like Manav would sleep on the floor. He thinks to himself, this rich people are mad they have a lot of money and still they stay in a small house and sleep on the floor. If he doesn't want the money he can give to me, I will happily accept. The things I could do with that money….Soham is already dreaming. Purvi pats his shoulder. Soham is shocked.
Purvi :- What? (In a whisper)
Soham :- Nothing. I better go.
Arjun and Purvi are in his car, they are going to court. Suddenly Arjun stops the car.
Purvi :- What happened?
Arjun :- Nothing…look there.
Purvi :- Ice-cream?
Arjun :- No, meri jaan it is snow. What to try some?
Purvi punches him…
Arjun :- Come let's eat.
Purvi :- Won't we be late?
Arjun :- We still have an hour, so don't worry. Remember, you only thought me that this kind of moments come rarely in life and when you get those moments you should live it. So, here I am living it.
Purvi :- So, you do listen to me when I talk.
Arjun :- Of course, which husband doesn't listen to their wife. This is me, being trained to listen to my future wife. Arjun laughes…
Arjun :- Bhaiya, one ice-cream please.
Purvi :- Only one? Aren't you eating one?
Arjun :- I thought we could share, remember the coffee yesterday. It tasted so sweet, so I thought starting yesterday I will share everything with you.
Purvi :- People are looking.
Arjun :- Who cares? Remember what Archana aunty said to Manav uncle, that you should not care what people think. See, I am learning fast. I shall dutifully listen to everything that my mother-in-law tells me.
Purvi is lost for words. She smiles at Arjun's behavior. She orders another ice-cream and gives it to Arjun. Arjun reluctantly accepts it. He is giving Purvi sad faces, Purvi smiles at him. Half way through their ice-creams, Purvi takes Arjun's ice-cream and gives him her's. He smiles at her. They enjoy the day and their moment.
Court
Manav's Lawyer (ML) Vishnu's Lawyer (VL), Inspector Rane (IR)
ML:- Miss Purvi, can you tell me who kidnapped you?
Purvi :- Yes, those three. Purvi points to Cheenu and his friend.
Manav, Archana and Arjun are shocked and are looking at each other.
Manav :- Why is she not pointing at Vishnu?
Archana :- I don't know.
ML :- What about him? (Manav's lawyer points at Vishnu) Didn't he kidnap you?
Purvi :- No, he didn't. When I woke up, he was there but those three kidnapped me.
ML :- Then what happened? When you woke up, did he hurt you?
Purvi :- Yes, that guy did (Purvi points to Cheenu) he slapped me. He would have hurt me more if it wasn't for so…I mean Vishnu. He told him to stop. He even gave me food and water to drink. If it wasn't for him I don't know what his friends would have doen to me.
ML is stunted so, is his client. Neither can believe what is going on…
ML :- but he was there and he called your father for ransom. Yes or no.
Purvi :- I don't know, he didn't talk to my father when I was around.
Manav stands up; he can't believe what is going on. Before he can say anything, Archana pulls his hand and makes him sit.
Manv :- She is lying, she was there.
ML :- Ok, tell me what happen next?
Purvi :- At night, I tried to escape. He, Vishnu saw me.
ML :- And threaten you. Did he hit you also?
Purvi :- No, he gave me a key to escape.
Everyone was shocked.
Manav :- This is nonsense, if they gave her a key. Why didn't she escape? What the hell is she talking about?
ML :- Miss Purvi, if he gave you a key why didn't you run?
Purvi :- Because some guy come and punched Vishnu. They got into a fight. It was really bad; the guy said if Vishnu didn't follow his orders, he will kill his family.
ML :- Why didn't you tell this in your statement to the police.
Purvi :- I guess, I was too scared and forgot the incident completely.
Arjun :- She is lying, there is no way she would forget to tell us something so important.
ML :- Can you identify this man ?
Purvi :- Yes, if I see his picture again.
VL :- Your honor, may I approach the bench.
Judge :- Yes, both of you'll come here, you too inspector.
VL :- Given the current situation. My client is willing to give you the leader of the group, he will also testify against him. He also swears never to kidnap anyone.
ML :- This is ridiculous, he is a kidnapper. We can't make a deal with him.
VL :- Why not, your honor you have heard Miss Purvi testify that Vishnu is not a threat, he didn't kidnap her, he protected her and most importantly he was doing all this to protect his family.
ML :- What about shooting Arjun?
VL :- Like I said, he had to protect his family, if he allowed Purvi to escape, they would have killed his family. He was only defending his family. If he really wanted to hurt Arjun, he could have shot him in the head why shoot him in the leg?
ML is quiet.
IR :- Are you sure he will give up the names?
VL :- Yes, he will also do everything you tell him.
IR :- Your honor, it is more important to catch the leader, than him. With your permission, I would like to drop the case against Vishnu and use him as witness to catch the leader and put a stop do this group.
Judge :- I agree. You may go back to your seats. Miss Purvi you may join your family?
ML judge shakes his head too Manav.
Judge :- Due to new information, I am closing the case against Vishnu. The police will now start a new case.
The judge stands, so does everyone. He leaves. Manav's lawyer explains what happened to Manav. Manav is very angry. He looks at Purvi. Purvi looks down.
Manav :- Why did you lie?
Purvi is quiet, Soham is watching. He is tensed. Inspector Rane comes and ask him to follow him to the police station, to tell him about the kidnappers.
Soham :- I will follow you. Can you give a minute; I would like to talk to Purvi first?
IR :- Go, I will be waiting.
Grandpa :- Don't if you talk to her now, you will create a scene. Can't you see how angry Manav is?
Soham :- That's why I am worried. I don't know what they will do to her.
Grandpa :- Let's go to the police station and then we will go to her house and bring her back to our house, where she belongs.
Soham :- Really? (He is very happy to hear it)
Grandpa :- Yes.
Soham and Grandpa with Balan leave to with Insecptor Rane and the other police. Nobody is in the court room. Varsha is watching, she thanks god for not sending Soham to prison. She watches Manav and Archana.
Manav :- That was a lie wasn't it. You never told us about another guy, so from where did his guy appear from?
Purvi looks at Archana. Varsha is watching from a distance.
Manav :- Was it a lie?
Purvi :- Yes.
Manav slaps Purvi.
Varsha is shocked. She can't believe Manav had just slapped Purvi.
Archana :- Manav…
Manav :- See lied. My daughter lied. You know how much I hate lies, and you lied to save the man who kidnapped you. Do you know how worried Archana was when you were kidnapped, she could not stop crying and Arjun, he took two bullets for you. Just for you and what do you do you let the man who shot him go free. Did you know how I felt when he kidnapped you instead of me? I felt like a loser, I felt like the worse father in the world. I couldn't protect my own daughter. Every minute you were with him, I felt like there were needles in my body and you let him go. I want him punished. Why did you do this Purvi? Why didn't you tell me before doing this? Why?
Purvi is crying. Arjun holds her.
Archana :- Manav let's go home. We will talk to her at home. Come.
Manav goes, Arjun is looking at Purvi with disappointment, and he can't believe that Purvi would lie in court, in front of everyone but he knows that there is a reason behind this. He swears he will find it out. Watching Manav slap Purvi was one of the worst moments in his life, standing there unable to help her; it felt like a knife had went through his heart. All he can think about is what are you hiding from me?
Archana looks at Purvi, Purvi is very scared. Arjun let's go of Purvi.
Archana :- When we reach home, you will answer all of your father's question and mine. If you don't, you will see the worst of me. Understand.
Purvi shakes her head, yes. Archana grabs her hand and they leave. Varsha can't believe her ears, since when did Archu tai become so strict, this is not the Archu tai she knows. What could have caused such change? God, what are they going to do Purvi? She did all this to protect Soham and now she is in trouble. I have to go see, what is going on?
