Arjun, a dissection of his psyche!

There has been a flurry of posts today as the ARVI world is excited that there maybe an end in sight to this torturous separation between Arjun and Purvi. The re-kindling of ARVI has been ambitiously likened to the legendary phoenix but Arjun is a fallen hero, doing his best to rise and we are eager to yank him up with a helping hand so that he may reclaim his lost title of 'romantic hero beyond compare'. We have pondered how the relentless Arjun who pursued Purvi turned tail and said yes to Ovi, how he puts up with Ovi's PDA and seems unconcerned when the world looks on. Tarnished he is, but Arjun has been true to his character all along. Arjun just marches to the beat of a different drummer.

When Arjun camped out in front of Purvi's home without a care about the chawlwallahs, we rejoiced in his love for Purvi and the romantic lover boy that he was; we decried him when he paid no heed to Purvi's feelings and decided to go ahead with his engagement to Ovi. We thought he put Ovi's reputation before Purvi's. We lamented that he flaunted that ugly piece of metal on his finger and allowed Ovi to carry on with him and pursued Purvi on the sly. How could he be two-faced, we asked. But to give Arjun his just dues, Mr. Kirloskar is not two faced nor did he place more weight on Ovi's saving of face than Purvi's. He simply dances to the tune of a different piper.

Arjun cared not a hoot for the chawlwallahs when he laid siege to Purvi's affections, he cared not a hoot for the people at the engagement party. He cared for Ovi's feelings, he did not want her to feel humiliated, he did not keep mum that day because he was afraid that people would gossip. Mr. K cannot comprehend that. He is impervious to what the masses may think of his actions. He is above the fray, he was born with a silver spoon, rich, pampered, the darling of his dad. He has known no failures, to see is to conquer, and he admits this to Purvi in the temple scene.

Arjun has cared not for matters of the heart, his only maksadh has been to prove himself in the business world. Ovi happens because she pushes herself on to him and she is his friend whom he does not want to hurt. He comes to India and a chit of a girl takes him by storm, feisty, stubborn, she lays a stronghold on his heart and he is a goner. Veni, vidi, vici, he lays claim to her heart in turn, caring not that the world might be watching. He has great intentions, he is truly, surely in love. The engagement night happens and he is loth to hurt his friend. He does not mean to hurt Purvi in the bargain, he knows he is hers and she his, to him it is only a matter of time before he explains away his love to Ovi. He wears Ovi's ring like one would wear a name tag at a conference or meeting, it is trivial, unimportant. He knows he will discard it once he heads home to his Purvi. He cannot understand Purvi's anguish or her incessant insistence on izzat. What Arjun wants Arjun gets, he made that clear today, he seemed incredulous that Purvi could think of giving him up for the sake of being good and told her not to concern herself with wagging tongues. He just does not realize that when Purvi pays the price for his mistakes, he will be paying for them too, only indirectly.

PS: Arch, I am including a disclaimer - this post is neither meant to crucify nor glorify your ladla!

Ok Jhanvi...,u are allowed my dear..😊 Won't say anything per the disclaimer since its been addressed ahead of time 😉

Btw I don't know if u noticed my rather passionate and righteous anger on several posts---this time on behalf of your ladli!!!! Instead of you I ended up with the righteous indignation after tonight's episode!!!

I'm already being crucified right now as we speak with several diatribes against my very real anger towards your ladli's Mahaan Aai... and my namesake,,,,

Perhaps my beta should have read the riot act to his other saas instead...I loved his dialogue about not being Bhagwaan and being human...too bad he couldn't have tackled the mother along with the daughter considering she needed to hear it more than anyone else.

Arch, I read all your strong posts in defense of Purvi and I liked them all.
😳 Archana, as a mother was right in slapping Purvi, but definitely was not right in throwing her out of the house in the night. 😔 Should have given Purvi a chance to say something. In fact, Sulochana was more empathic, which came to me as a surprise.

Arch, I wish your beta had read the riot act to his reel saas too! She needed it today. I have been vocal on the subject too but will go check the diabtribes😃
Yes, loved the bhagwan dialogue and Arjun's asking of Purvi if she was done with her bak bak.
You are a good sasuma if you have been sticking up for your bahu, more than can be said for her ma today!😭

Thanks Trish!! 😳 That was my point exactly. Not getting angry and slapping...that is excusable,,,but the "she has ruined everything" and throwing her out of the house in the middle of the night was way too much for me. This is Purvi...not Punni. But as Punni herself pointed out...even though she did a bad thing her mother got her out of the mess, explained the right path to her, and stood by her. Manjusha did that. And we know what we got from Archu.

Thanks Jhanvi!!! I agree his reel saas really did need a reality check today. Well it's obvious my ladla wants ur ladli...and he means to have her too..so we have our ARVI back and that's that.

Very glad to see DK step up to the plate and take matters in hand. 👏 In watching the scene between these 2..the way Arjun tried to stop him the first time he said it was time...by telling him Purvi had forbidden him to say anything...would have had me break into a sweat if I had already read the updates and known what was coming 😉 Thank god for Daddy Kirloskar!! He overrode Arjun and told his son he needed to man up and fess up to everyone before things got more out of hand. Best piece of advice and exactly what my beta needed to hear! Now that he knows what he has to do, and is on the right path (or should I say warpath 😆) I actually can agree with part of your post,,,,nothing and noone is going to stop him!!!!!!

you cannot make decision on one episode ... make a statement after everything happens ... if archana doesn't support purvi then say anything... she is a mother whose two daughters are involved one happiness will cause misery to others... think keeping yourself in her shoes... just coz she didn't listen to purvi doesn't make her less worthy mom... don't compare manjusa and archana... vinod slapped punni in front of his society...

I was appalled at Archana's behavior too. As I wrote on Shyamala's post, I liked Sulo today but would have liked her to have spared at least an anguished glance at Purvi when she walked out the door. A grandma would be just as worried about her grand daughter walking out in inclement weather in the dead of night as she would be with a 50 year old sobbing daughter in her arms - especially since all the sobbing daughter is doing is wondering how she is going to face Manav and an irate Ovi.

I agree 100%. You can't make a decision on one episode. And that's the point. Nobody said she is a bad mom and nobody is making any decision. We don't hate her as a mother nor is anyone criticizing her as a person or mother. We are taking issue with her behavior and reaction today and commenting on our disappointment with it. Definitely not making any generalized statements about her character. You can love someone but be shocked and ashamed by a certain action or behavior of theirs. That is what this is. We all, myself included, love Archana and do feel the greatest empathy for her plight and the backlash she is about to face. And if the articles prove true and she stands with Arjun and Purvi I will be the happiest person. But these factors and yesterday's defense, as Jhanvi so rightly pointed out (and as our good friend Shyamala so eloquently put in her post)...do not excuse todays ugly behavior. The hysterics, not giving her a chance to explain and throwing her out of the house in the middle of the night with nowhere to go is simply inexcusable in terms of today's actions.
