Varun,

You had asked me for a short history of T&T carnival, so for you and the other friends here, read on.

Carnival is celebrated officially from Sunday to Tuesday preceding Lent.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, so at midnight carnival Tuesday, all partying stops.

There is the steelband competition, held on the Saturday night.

We're very proud of the steelpan in T&T because it is the ONLY musical instrument created in the 21st century!👍🏼

Originally the steelpan was made from old steel drums that were used in the oil industry. Now their production encompasses more modern procedures.
