yes lotus is a symbol of peace and harmony...unlike other customs that mainly revolve around roses, this tradition that i mentioned revolves around purity of relations...just a LOTUS is worth thousands of gifts and thats why the male are revered as dutiful, caring and love bestowing...!
I will give you the name of the place where this beautiful custom originated tomorrow...once all girls here finish giving their gifts to we boys...😊

Also i forgot to mention devi...
Lotus grows in swamps ie marshy/wet and dirty areas...yet it doesnt loose its purity...it remains unaffected...hence thats another reason for giving it coz women are considered the harbinger of prosperity and tranquility..so there is no greater gift than a LOTUS..😊
