ZEE ZEE if Indian movies or serials started showing real life situations and awareness abt them that would be the day..
Dimentia, Alzheimers janta needs awareness...Even educated people dont know abt them at times..So how do we expect average audiance to know..Movies and TV can educate public by providing awareness with correct info...
Here serial missing the big opportunity they have in educating people..

i agree completely..it has always irritated the crap out of me to see mental disorders being treated in this out-of-the-world wierded out manner by our tv shows..the ONLY show will date tht has had any ounce of authenticity in this context was Aapki Antra which genuinely did research on autism and wanted to make a difference in educating the masses, needless to say,the show dint garner trps and was pushed off air..i remember this one particular show on zee where a character was introduced stating tht he is mentally ill..thts it,just mentally ill,as if tht explains it all..and frankly, tht character showed no symptoms of any mental illness except talking like a child(badly)..and the irony is tht when i mentioned the same on the show forum, giving reasons why he dint fit into any mental illness category even, i was hounded and bashed for "bashing" one of the most "endearing" characters..i have no issues wid the characters shown on tv and dnt expect realism, real characters are generally turned into the villains,i have made my peace wid tht..bt the manner of portraying sumthng like a mental disorder which is extremely difficult to treat,in such a shoddy manner is nothing less of poking fun at the millions of psychiatric patients arnd the world who struggle to lead a decent life..do the CVs know how debilitating an Alzheimer's or a Melancholic Depression is?if they dnt,thn sit back and learn before showing such useless tracks of "saas sudharo andolan" by the holy bahu..

What i am bothered about is that the producers are losing a good opportunity to inform the public that there are avenues to get help. These days, it is fairly common to have elderly at home with dementia, alzheimers and what have you, and they are putting a strain on family relationships.

What Savita needs is professional help. Not Archana trying to be a psychiatrist. She has definitely gone about it the wrong way. She has continued to push Savita into to a corner and not having any training in psychological matters, she is actually pushing Savita into a danger zone where there may not be any return.
So common producers, show the public they can get help and how they can get help for such mental illnesses. It is your duty to educate the public whilst entertaining them.

Very very good point there zeezee..... I totally agree with you !!!!

👏 agree with everything and bolded parts the most. they have indeed lost a great chance to educate the public on how average middle class families cope with such hardships in life. and the worst part is that, they are misinforming the public that a well meaning bahu can do "every-flipping-thing"-NOT TRUE.

Let's hope the producers will do the right thing for a change. Aapki Antara got a good showiing - i enjoyed the show very much and taught me a lot about autism. There was never any overly drama about it - it was a very normal family life - it was GOOD!!
Sadly the drama factor is a little too DRAMA in PR. They are making Archana into a sort of saint and all-round miss fix it.
