Let me start of by saying I am Fed Up of the Women of PR😛 - the hysterics, the emotional blackmail, the "judge and jury" approach and the constant sorrow.
I watch this show for the Men of PR😃😃. They get my vote👍🏼. Honestly, if they took away all the women of PR and just showed the male interaction, I would be one loyal viewer of PR.😆
Come on guys, think about it eh? Which one of us has not enjoyed the boy-next-door friendship of Manav and Tarun, or the BROMANCE of Manav and Satish or the Sizzling Takars of Manav and Jaywant or even the fantasy of the Runaway FIL Club. Don't lie. CONFESS.
So ............
This is a long overdue Recognition Thread for the Leading Men of PR and an Appreciation of the CV's for crafting such unique male characters.
A TOAST TO THE LEADING MEN OF PR🥳
(arranged in descending order of my affections😛)
Men who share many similar qualities (their respect for their parents, their respect for their in-laws, and their love of their wives) yet each set apart with a unique personality.
Satish ...... the Gentleman Lover
From the beginning of this show, I thought Satish was a very calm, considerate and sensible man. He used logic, reasonableness and resourcefulness in dealing with many challenges that came his way. He tried to keep the peace between his wife and his family. A true diplomat. He has always been the "voice of reason" for me in this show on many issues. Whenever his logic has caused him to err, he has atoned for it in a open, honest and considerate manner.
Did he succumb at the prospect of prison? Yes. Can I judge him harshly for it? No. The more responsible the man (in my observation) the more overwhelmed by pressure (of his fears and responsibilities) he gets. Did he atone for it in a considerate and reasonable fashion? Yes he did. Enough Said.
Manav - the Compassionate Lover
Manav maybe the male lead of the show but I never saw his character as that of a hero. For me he was always the underdog and therein lay his appeal. It was the love story of the underdog against all odds not the love story of the vanquishing knight. If I had to write a eulogy for Manav, I would say "Here lies a man who has lived a life of compromises and disappointments, with brief breaths of joy and personal pleasure". He has always been the "heart of gold" for me in this show.
Manav was always depicted as someone who faced some harsh realities and responsibilities early in life and yet he was shown to think emotionally or compassionately (about others) in every decision that he took. I think the only erroneous decision (the marriage proposal to Shravani) that he took was in an equally compassionate vein. What we saw later on was a man trapped by his own goodwill and intent on compromising yet again, true to his basic nature. Was his predicament of his own making? Yes. Was his misery of his own making? Not entirely. A marriage involves two adults and a divorce involves two adults - Yes? Then, Enough Said.
Dharmesh....The Practical Lover
Dharmesh when I saw him for the first time, I thought to myself, this will be the most controversial character on PR. The actor playing Dharmesh is not your "conventional leading man" and I knew that his first stumble would result in a general characterization of this character and it did. He does not have the usual lover boy strappings, yet he is a loving and loyal husband (in his own brusque way0, a dutiful son and son-in-law, a good businessman and a decent provider.
Dharmesh is actually a very interesting character for me. He is among that rare breed of people who CAN ACTUALLY compartmentalize business and pleasure. So does that make him a bad guy? NO, actually in reality it makes him an astute and successful businessman - A man that does not compromise practicality for any lesser emotion. To me, he has always been a "success at any cost" kind of guy. Most women find such a go-getter attitude admirable in a man.
He loves his wife? Yes. He respects her family? Yes. Has he harmed her family? No. In fact, he has always watched out for the family interests (Manav at the time of the jail incident was not a member of the family and it can be argued that he still is not). When he suggested an Archana - Jaywant proposal, he had her best interests at heart. What happened later was a domino effect of life-altering moments that rocked his compartmentalized life (many pragmatic people behave irrationally - in a manner that they perceive as rational but can be argued by others as callous - when faced with an uncontrollable predicament).
Does he dislike Manav? Yes. Put yourself in his place - unlike Satish who has lived the ArMan Saga, Dharmesh had not. He was naturally sympathetic to Archana's situation as a BIL. To him, Manav was a man who had created a family scandal and was either directly or indirectly linked to most of the chaos and turmoil in his personal and professional life. What's not to hate or get turned off by?
Did he succumb at the prospect of prison? Yes, Just like Satish. Can I judge him harshly for it? No, Just Like Satish. Can I judge him harshly for making Manav a scapegoat? Yes. But in his moment of fear and irrationality, he relied heavily on his basic principle - do not compromise practicality for any lesser emotion.
He is a lover just like Satish and Manav but unlike Satish he will not compromise himself for his wife and unlike Manav he will never compromise his wife for an outsider. Is he so bad after all? In my opinion NO.
Knowingly or unknowingly, you have done a fantastic job in developing these unique and distinctive characters and in casting the right actors for the job.
Anurag Sharma - plays a clean cut, dependable and considerate Satish to perfection
Sushant Singh Rajput - plays a shy, good natured yet fumbling lead Manav in a most endearing and yet frustrating fashion
Sumit Arora - depicts the role of a hard-nosed, practical yet sensitive family man in a manner that provokes yet engages.

A REQUEST TO CVs
(arranged in descending order of probability😛😛😭)
- Show spousal empowerment (in a progressive fashion). Show ArMan empower each other rather than such support each other in follies. Show Varsha empower Satish as an invidual the way Satish empowers her.
-
- Show more scenes of male bonding and interaction to lighten the sorrow perpetual of the Women in PR.
- STOP making people slap and ridicule Manav all the time. The circumstances of his birth and life are a big slap already.
And with that last word, I take a bow😆😆.
So guys,
👏
HOPE😃
