guys
I have read quite a few pages of this thread and couple of other threads and I am very impressed with CVs for a change.
They have managed to get Manav fans extremely sympathetic to Archu's plight with all the bashing going on
I wanted to drop my thoughts on Archu and the bashing
What I have read on this and other threads is that there is this ongoing sentiment about Archu. She is a shy, timid, helpless person who made decisions in a self sacrificing vein and is undeserving of the world and society's harshness and scrutiny (not quoting verbatim just summarizing)
When this show started out, I was attracted to Archu. She was this cheerful, shy and helpful girl. In my mind she was NORMAL AND LIKABLE.
She was never in my mind helpless or timid (even then with no education or job or marriage prospects) the way I saw it, she was a girl who was carefree enough and secure enough in the value of her family, their direction, counsel and support that she did not feel the need to present an opinion about her own life and the path being chosen for her future. She did not hesitate to present an opinion about any problems and incidents re her sisters. She did not come off to me as helpless or timid, rather as tactful, careful and confident in her family
She was never timid or helpless around her family.
Yes she was awkward and nervous (as are most new brides) in the early days of marriage with HIS family. This is not her personality. This is a natural reaction during a transitional period.
The day she decided to reject Satish's proposal (after manav's first jailing) was the day she placed her own opinion over that of her parents. It is AT THAT POINT IN TIME that Archu's character changed for me forever. She was nowhere like the old Archu.
Her decision to go back, face Manav's abuse, remain silent on the boldly open bigamous situation, accept manav's decision to divorce, do grihapravash (and the list goes on) was not the act of a shy, timid, helpless woman but that of a confident, willful, bold woman (
one who knowingly accepts an unconventional solution – their weird pavitra ristha – as a suitable consolation prize so as not to walk away from the competition empty handed. ANY link even the most twisted, fragile and tainted was acceptable to no link at all).
Her decision to continue being friends with Manav
Her decision to accept's Manav's ultimatum and marry Jay
Her decision to stand by Manav while being engaged to another man (and the list goes on)
All of these are not the actions of a shy, timid, helpless person or for that matter even a VICTIM. She PONDERED, REASONED, FORMED AN OPINION AND THEN TOOK A DECISION with a clear perspective and knowing fully well the consequences to her, Manav and all families.
The blasting though gaining her overwhelming sympathy has no meaning for me. When a person is going through life living in a sound proof room, all the banging on the doors are pointless because they are not hearing you clearly enough to open the door and act reasonably. She will not pay any heed or act reasonably EVEN AFTER all the bashing so the Ks, the Ds and the Rs better save their breath.
Everybody feels bad for the underdog and especially when the underdog is pretty looking. I do not think Archana, Manav or Shravani are the underdog. So I feel no sympathy for either. They are burning in a cauldron that they themselves put on a raging fire.
I am sorry at this point of time I see only one underdog in this show……. Sachu.
Everyone around …… in his name……………. are taking selfish, obstinate, harmful decision, cloaked in the cape of "righteousness and pure love" and he is getting SHAFTED BIG TIME
Yes, Dharmesh and Jay are doing nasty stuff and we all know that - but guys, there is no point commenting about OBVIOUSLY black characters when the GREY characters are doing such a wonderful job of being sneakily black to the future and prospects of an innocent.
I think Manav, Shravani, Manju, Sulo, Savita, Girish, Damo should get blasted because these characters will never really accept their mistakes
I don't want to blast Dhamesh or Jay at this point and neither will the CVs because they are so obviously black now that blasting will come in the form of jail time. I am sure of this. At least, for Jay.
I feel bad for Manav. His personal screw-ups aside, being tortured in prison for a crime u did not commit is hell on earth. Being interrogated is bad enough.
I agree with others and Kools about the Sav-Manju scene.
Mogga did not comment on specific sections of your commentary as I loved it all.
BTW, totally agree with Niki, please reconsider format.
Thanks
