Will reply later . Will need time for this .Am thinking os staring an Anti Ragging progrram by conferring with the PTA in near future .

As Tanya said .You may not have seen the horrific side and perhaps ur relatives .yjat doesnt mean the process is HEALTHY at all .
.
I oppose it as I oppose racism .

I only meant to say that not every ragger is a villain. The ragging thing is different everywhere. I certainly am not one. This post was meant to defend me just as I defend characters from PR.

And please don't compare it with racism.

A request: please don't report me. I have been a very good senior... all my juniors will stand for me, I'm can vouch for that. 200%.

Thanks for reading the long post. I hope you are not offended when I said that you may not know the details cos you weren't ragged. My intentions were not wrong. I just wanted to give a different perspective. Sorry if I hurt you.

I may not be able to answer in detail. Will wait for your reply however. I have an exam tomorrow. Took time out to write this long post cos I felt that you might be thinking of me as an 'abuser' as well. Or a racist perhaps???

Thanks for reading.

A ragger is not necessarily a villain. But the term ragging has come to represent villainy by seniors.I get ur point.
When I said one boy lost his eye,he did so as he was trying to stand up against his super-senior boys.My batch mates supported him n our seniors said they also had the right to rag. They clashed. The kid had lost an eye bcoz pieces of glass, from the specs that he was wearing entered his eyes.
U see our boys did fight it out for him but ultimately the outcome was he lost his eye...and why ?Bcoz he was ragged.
Ragger is not a necessary evil but the ones who think so hav a herculean task against these ppl who hav resorted to such acts. Its upon us.People hav tendency to go for the worst case scenarios...not the best ones.

Niki u might b right about ur college but as u said its one of the top three. Ur college is big. Has a good name. Highly educated people must get in there. A person who has little in interest studies wudnt get in there and those r the kind of people who go to extremes in the name of fun. There must b sooo many other colleges in India of lower ranking where students do severe ragging and its not perhaps taken seriously by the management and some people get hurt. We have a saying in Islam (I dont know if its from the Quran but I have heard it on TV on a religious channel) that aik aadmi ka katal poori insaaniyat ka katal hai. If even one person dies due to ragging then ragging is bad! There r many other ways to bond and keep students on the right path. We dont have ragging here but we all bond with each other very well. We even bond very well with our teachers. Has been like this since u enter school. I was never scared of a teacher or a student here.

I understand what u r saying but this is just like saying u shud slap ur kid when they do something wrong so that they dont do it again and become good kids. It doesnt work all the time.

Exactly my point Gauri. When people get ruthless and carried away in ragging, they should be reported. Straightaway. I also advocate it.

But I'm against the people who are using this 'anti ragging law' for their benefits.

Recently I asked a junior during my college festival, for some help, with 'please' and 'will you do it' and all. It was not my personal work, it was college work for which college had given me an authority and a post and had asked all juniors to help.

Her reply was- "If you give me any work, I will report you to anti-ragging.'

Is this fair????

Sid, my sister or uncle or other were not in top colleges. Good, but not in to colleges.

I agree with your point. The Anti Ragging Law is good in a way, this also I agree. Have never refused this. It was a good thing they did to make this law. But not every ragger is bad is all I'm trying to say. I have never said once that people should take ragging. I'm just trying to point out a different perspective of the ragging thing. Trying to be the devil's advocate you can say.

I didn't understand you slap wala reference.

At the end of the day everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Not fair. Why even in my colg u ask their names or try talking to juniors now, they complain seniors r ragging.
There is a need of balance here.Seniors used to take undue advantage of ragging and juniors are taking undue advantage of anit-ragging.

Oh trust me............its an EVIL . .
The limits when CROSSED have no bounds..................its a DARK area one ventures into
An area where life can be lost and cruelty can know no bounds
