Usha Nadkarni, who plays Savita Tai on Pavitra Rishta, tells us how the character is quite similar to her real life persona
Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta's shrewd mother-in-law Savitaji, played by Usha Nadkarni speaks on her success of her character. "While I'm not greedy like Savita, I'm as feisty as she is. I maintain cordial relations, but don't go out of my way to be overfriendly."
She maintains that her role demands that her character has shades of grey. "It's the role I've been given. But if I were to choose my favourite character on the show, it has to be Archana. She's good looking and talented," she adds.
Speaking on the success of the show, Nadkarni says that she's overwhelmed with the love she has received from the fans. It amuses me that after the show, random people call me Savitaji. Others ask me to bring back Archana, as they don't like Shravani. We can only wait for that to happen," she laughs.
A veteran actress, who is well-known in the television, film and theatre circuit, Nadkarni has portrayed strong characters in movies like Vaastav, Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar, One Two Three etc. She has also come in shows like Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan and Kuch Is Tara. With the success of Pavitra Rishta, this character is going to be etched in the minds of her fans.
