Wow, I was out for one day and looks like I missed a lot. The hug sure hurt a lot of feelings. My take:
Why is Archana crying? Is it because Shravani hugged Manav or because Manav didnt pull back. There is a huge difference in both. Shravani hugged Manav out of gratitude and maybe even love. By now we have established her as a spoilt brat who will do exactly what she wants to do and if she cant, she will tell Daddy about it so he can make it happen. So, its no surprise that she hugged Manav when she felt like it. She didnt/doesnt care for anyone's feelings and w.r.t Archana she probably wanted her to see anyway.
With Manav, the case is even more curious. Manav just stayed put - I am pretty sure Manav at that minute didnt think he was married or did not look around furtively for Archana. He just stayed there. That shows that Manav just gave in to Shravani's impulse and that is the crux. He did not pull back because pulling back was never an option in his mind. He is too committed to Shravani. He feels bad about Archana, sure and probably would have liked to stay with Archana but plain and simple wont do anything about it. I think this character Manav is a coward too and doesnt want to come off as doing anything that is not Mahan.
Archana is the epitome of silliness after watching the hug - what should any self respecting woman do when she watches this? Quietly leave and never come back. She can sign off on the diivorce papers from wherever. What is her family doing? Here is their daughter few days from her divorce and living in the most retarded situation possible and all they can think is if Varsha should do the obvious or not? Very bad parenting indeed. Neither Archana nor Varsha have recieved any mature advice from their parents or older brother about anything relevant.
Savita is a coward of mammoth proportions. She doesnt want to admit publicly ( in front of Girish, Manav and Shravani) that she is wrong nor pull her useless son up and ask him to stay away from Shravani as long as Archana is around. In addition, she could have asked Shravani to consider leaving Manav and Archana alone. Nope, complete cop out. She corners the weak and inept Archana and asks her to do something about the divorce..what should she do - again yell in the court that she is still not ready while Shravani and Manav are in the hospital room having the baby?
