Hi guys I am sorry if I offend anyone, but I am just outraged by what is portrayed in this show. Vandita is shown in society that she is raped by ajit so no guy would ever marry her. Even though she wasnt really raped, what if she was?.that doesnt mean she is a bad person that no guy should ever think about marrying her.. It sickens me that indian society would demean a woman for being raped instead of giving her strength or overcome such a horrific event . She has the right just like any other girl to marry a nice guy... What is more messed up is yah she made the mistake of marrying ajit but that her family wont take her hand and get her out of that animals house. Who cares what people say...what about your daughters self-respect and her feelings??. It hurts to know that our society is so close-minded that innocent people dont get the justice they should. I know that this is not true in a lot of cases in india nowadays..bt It is time we take out these narrow minded beliefs esp outta tv.

sorry to offend anyone..It just bothers me that this was shown ..and a perfectly innocent girls life is ruined and i kno this happens in reality.

it is quite disturbing...but I don't think that it is only indian mentality...many cultures have this sort of mentality...and that is why women around the world are coming together and trying to overturn this sort of thinking...

I think they should show brave vandita and that she takes her revenge from Rasika and Ajit. Otherwise, it is so derogative to womenhood if a girl has to marry whoever tries to disgrace her.

Much of this world is still very patriarchal. ie: Many people are of the belief that the women who are raped/abused do things to "deserve" the abuse and that the men who commits these acts are just "boys being boys". I sure than many of the people with this false belief know in their hearts that it is wrong, but are scared to come forward.

When you are living in a society dominated by men and the culture such as ours, this will happen. India is improving, but it will take atleast 2 generations to change the thinking.

Yes it was a very wrong thing to show Vandu so submissive and crumbling under pressure .She was not raped in the first place.Even if she had been is she to blame for her plight. The creatives could have shown all the women fighting Ajit and co. tooth and nail and bringing him to heel. Instead something like in the old movies of the 50s was shown. Looks like the writers dont want Indians to come out of this mentality.

Even western society was that way as well and today, there are still people who have false beliefs about women. ie: A womans place is in the home, a womans only purpose is to serve her husband, women do things to deserve abuse, women can never be trusted etc.. These kinds of beliefs really piss me off, All of these are mens ideas and any woman who justifies these is traitor to her own gender.

the creatives just needed to get Vandu into ajits house to reunite Savita & Archu so Sav could understand how it feels for her own daughter to be tortured. Sad, really.

And that's the world, it's not a mentality, its a social norm among many societies who value purity & etc

I had actually made a similar comment earlier. And totally agree with you. Yes the way it is portrayed in the show happens in real life, and so does a woman standing up and fighting for her dignity. Why, oh why do these bt and other shows only show this regressive behaviour? There are many women out there who take the decision to fight in real life. They go through many taunts and hardships, why not highlight some of the issues faced by them? Does the fact now that the victim is married give a blessing to the rape? Does the fact that she is married make life any easier for the girl? Yes it is indian mentality. We are the most hypocratic of people and with shows such as this one ruling the roost will be sadly, staying there for a long time.
