Hi all,
I'm new on this forum. I'm not a regular serial viewer but Pavitra Rishta's got me hooked. Not sure why. No, I know why, it's the Manav character. I don't think I like Sushant Rajput - who I've occasionally tried to watch on KDHMD - as much as I like Manav. (Is someone going to throw something at me for saying this??) He doesn't seem as gentle in real life or have that quality of sweetness and givingness that Manav does. Perhaps because no real life guy can be as sweet and giving as Manav? And he certainly looks better as Manav than as himself or as Preet. Perhaps it's in character for a mechanic on a tight budget to have iffy teeth and sweatstains, but for Preet (God Rest His Soul) and Sushant - I strongly recommend orthodontic treatment, a whole lower jaw of new (or fewer?) teeth, and a really strong anti-persipirant.
But as for Manav....he's absolutely adorable.
Anyway, I've been reading all your comments on and off and enjoying some of them, and this is what I've got to say for today:
Archana's talking about "prayaschitta'; it looks like she'll go back to being her submissive self in the process of winning Manav back. I know some of the women/girls on this forum wouldn't want that and I definitely do not. That was what was wrong with Archana in the first place, and it's one of the flaws of this serial and so many others. The problem is that feminine submissiveness tends to be equated with feminine virtue, i.e. women are "good" if they allow themselves to be doormats and let people wipe feet all over them. One hopes we're not in for more of that now that Archana's going back.
Somebody amongst you also said it would be undignified for Archana to turn temptress and seduce Manav back. And why is that? Why is it more undignified for her to show that she is physically attracted to her own husband (something completely natural as well as socially acceptable) than to cry and grovel and touch Savita's feet (something completely unnatural given how Savita has treated her?). Sex brings beauty into people's lives; treating it as shameful is wrong and abnormal. All sorts of marital conflicts are resolved because husbands and wives are attracted to each other physically and make the extra effort involved in keeping the peace. The only problem of course, is that this may end the serial in one episode. I mean, Manav is a 31 year old male virgin. If Archana gave him even one come-hither look - or dropped her palla or something - along with morning chai when they're the only ones awake in the house, there's a strong probability that Manav will immediately capitulate on the kitchen floor. Battle over before it's even begun. :-) So obviously our creatives have to take it REAL SLOW on this front. :-)
Right, that's all for now.

hi commentator
dropping pallu and seducing Manav...........Gosh I laughed like hell .
I was among the ones who thought it was undignified to throw herself at Manav and win him back but my reasons for it were diffrent ............not the ones u listed in your post . Not bcoz sex is shameful or not a beautiful way of expressing love or coz a woman should never ever take the lead ............but only because keeping this storyline and its plot and characterization in mind , this drastic change in the character may damage the serial totally .
If u look at the title song and also the story to this point ........it is about a simple girl living in a suburban Maharashtrian locality called Dombivli and the lower middle class atmosphere ........she is liked by Manav for her simplicity and this boldness will be such a drastic change in her character that one doesnt know how viewers will take it .
It is indeed doubtful if Manav will even like Archana in the seductress wife role . He chose her for her quiet shyness and simplicity ..........they were the turn ons , and this opposite role will completely destroy whatever finer feelings residue is left in his heart . Also , I dont really think , looking at Manavs character that he will fall for seduction . He is the type who may be put off by it or even disgusted by it . Now Sachin wudnt be disgusted ...........but then thats the kind of character Sachin played . Manav is diffrent . He already hates Archana as he blames her for his brothers death . To top it , if she throws her pallu down after refusing him the divorce by strongarming in his home using the court stay card ..........disgust will well up inside him like bile rushes upto the throat during vomit . From his point of view , Archana first wanted the divorce , then when she wanted , refused it , now , she is living in his house and thinks she can win him with sex overtures ..............he will not just get angry , he will be positively enraged .
The damage done was to Manav's emotions and Archu needs to undo it by slowly blowing over his wounds with emotional actions only ..........not physical ones at this point . Some men can enjoy the physical level only when their emotional involvement is strong ........perhaps only 20% in the world , and the character of Manav falls within this 20%. 80% r like Sachin who wud enjoy exactly what u said . But then u urself said that Manav is diffrent and hence well liked .
The physical consummation between the garage mechanic and the simple gal not in his league is a delicate issue indeed and i am sure the script writers of PR will handle it as well as they have done it to this point .
You are right . I am among those who cannot take it when a woman becomes a door mat to prove she is 'good ' . Neither do I take it kindly when women are shown taking abuse to 'work' on their marraige . Not just that , serials have this chauvinistic tendency to put the onus of working on a marraige in India only on the woman...........in simple language , the greater the amount of shit the woman takes the more success she can have in ' saving ' her marraige , and boy that infuriates me . So I dont know how i will sit thru those scenes . Coz Savitas place belongs in the police lock up , whether sweet mAnav likes it or not , and she needs a daughter in law like Varsha who wud not hesitate to go to her level and get ugly if required or twist her arm behind her back if she starts doing too much verbal abuse . But again , I understand that this destroys Archus character ..........so I am steeling myself to sit thru the next 3 months .
Btw........very nice post .

Welcome to the forum, commentator!
Koolsadhu wrote pretty much what I was thinking. Nobody was saying that Archana and Manav having a physical relationship would be shameful or bad, but it really just doesn't fit with their characters.
I don't know, Archana using some kind of seduction would just look out of place in the current situation. If she did something like that now then I would be disappointed in the storywriters for showing, along with all the other humiliation and indignation Archana's going through, that she would add trying to use sexual advances on Manav with the intent of "winning" him back and "saving" her marriage. That would just be sad in my opinion, and then she would endure more humiliation because Manav would probably be appalled and go even further away from her. Now if they both get intimate due to some overwhelming moment of love and passion that is mutual and natural, then it would be interesting and both would stay more or less in character.
I too am tired of the whole "doormat woman". I hate when they send the message that being a submissive doormat is the honorable way to go, because its not. Don't the channels/shows understand how negatively messages like that could be impacting some of their audiences? I would love if this show finally portrayed through Archana a woman who can be assertive and determined while still being a nice and rather normal person.
Keep on posting commentator, your views are quite interesting!

Thank you, koolsadhu and toothbrush 13.
This is more fun that I realized it would be. :-) I meant to vent in one long loud blast and then hold my peace, but who knows.......!
I suppose I was uncharitable about the teeth and the sweating; the man is very attractive even with all that, one must admit.
Do you think they're actually dating in real life? Those funny clips they do on SBS are very revealing; it looks like she really thinks a lot of him, I'm not so sure of his side of it. Of course everything could be 100% scripted there too, even her adoring glances, and for all we know he's the smitten one and she's giving him the run around. Great chemistry though, I'll grant.
And I didn't suppose we'd see the temptress; though if you watched Ankita's Raat Ke Bara Baje number for the Little Champs finale....... it would be a cakewalk for her. I'm not persuaded that Manav would be repulsed. He's painfully conscious of her physical presence, as the last few episodes have shown. Besides, if we're trying to break stereotypes here, and a submissive girl isn't necessarily a "good" girl, as we've all agreed, does a "good" boy have to necessarily react with horror at the possibility of being seduced?

Very nice discussion here. i think manav is a kind of guy u can win over with trust and love, not with seduction. obviously in his heart he would want to take archana in his arms(he is a normal human being with normal needs and wants) but the situation is different right now.its not about making him happy. its about winning his trust. and to do that archana will need more than seduction😆

Yes, Sushant is very attractive even with those teeth. and he is a very good actor😊his acting never looks fake.

Hello, salaam namaste and welcome to forum..

Koolsadhoo and toothbrush wrote what i was thinking. My views are same as both of themm..

Infact, i have many things in common with you:
1.I'm not a regular serial viewer but Pavitra Rishta's got me hooked.
2.I like Manav more than Sushant for his loving nature and same goes for Archana..

Manav is very good looking ,crooked teeth is OK.He has very expressive eyes and there is certain vulnerability on his face .

Manav is a human being . If his heart starts melting again towards Archana and he believes that she is innocent then of course he would be naturally want to be close to her .
It's this bloody responsibility towards Shravani's baby that will come in the way but he is only human and his attraction towards Archana has always been extremely strong so you never know .

I agree his eyes speak a lot.he is a very quiet character yet he has been able to express himself so well and capture viewers hearts.

The way he looks at archana you can tell he loves her so much.there is so much love in his eyes and you can also see his pain.i can totally imagine arman reunite scene where they both dont speak but let their eyes do the talking. 😍

@commentator:

Don't be silent, keep on posting! This forum can be a lot of fun.
How I wish they were together in real life. Absolutely nobody (well except for them) knows whether or not they are together. They just look so cute together both on and off PR. They have great chemistry as Archana and Manav, they must be the only couple that can get people excited and hooked onto them after doing what are possibly some of the most unexciting things. These usually unexciting things include washing dishes, riding in trains/rickshaws, eating pav bhaji, and merely looking at each other. Off screen they're really cute together as well. I understand what you mean when you say it seems like they may just be leading each other on. Both are really good actors and its a strategic move to keep their off screen relationship a mystery as it heavily increases popularity to keep people wondering.
As for the last part, he wouldn't necessarily be repulsed or horrified, it just depends on Archana's intentions. I was talking about if she tried seducing him purely intentionally. If Manav saw that Archana was intentionally seducing him, he would probably be quite put-off, he may even be slightly offended if he takes it as Archana finds that he only wants her physically and thus she can get him back like that.
If she's just being normal but Manav himself starts getting attracted then its a different story as he can't deny those feelings. In fact, that's what we've been seeing again for the past few days, and it will probably only intensify once Archana comes back and Manav has more chances of those encounters happening. If situations allowed, then he, like pretty much every married man in this world, would love to get close to his wife. I guess it will be interesting to see how he can control himself and resist her now, as three months will be far longer than the three weeks they were together the first time. If that stint is any indication, then Manav is going to have one heck of a hard time after the misunderstandings are cleared up between them. Tanyaz put it well, that his attraction to Archana has always been strong, so you never know what that may lead to.
