Part 9

"God! you look so tacky. Who did this to you?" Neil shouted ignoring Minni's tears which had further smeared her kohl around her eyes making her look even worse.

"What happen sir ji? Do you need anything?" Khatri came running after hearing Neil's panicked voice.

"Yes. get me the team I sent to the chawl. Right now!" Neil screamed at the top of his voice and Khatri could only nod his head and ran outside to get the team. He didnt know what they did to earn Neil Oberoi's wrath but he was sure every member of the team is going to face the humiliation of their lifetime to ruin Neil's mood this much. He sent a silent prayer to the God for the team members.

As Neil paced from one to another corner of his room in anger, trying to think as many as profanities to shout at team members before ultimately firing them, a sob which escaped from Minni's mouth attracted his attention and he finally noticed that she was crying.

Neil walked towards her hesitantly as he realized he was so busy being angry that he didnt even think how Minni would be feeling after his outburst. She was already not feeling confident about this whole bollywood party and now she will fear it more.

"I...um...see...its not your fault...you dont know anything about fashion and all...so may be....the team must have messed up...I am angry on them...not you..." Neil tried to pacify her somehow but she continued to sob.

"Oh for God sake! stop crying." Neil said as he moved towards her in long stride and shook her shoulders a little to attract her attention and show his frustration.

Minni at once stopped sobbing as she met his eyes which were full of anger and probably some remorse also for shouting like that in front of her. She innocently blinked her eyes few times and sniffed before finally getting control over her emotions. As Neil tried to gauge the emotions in those beautiful tear filled brown eyes, he noticed how cute she looked when she blinks them repeatedly and it was his undoing, he felt all his anger and frustration melt down and calmness spread through his nerves. He sighed closing his eyes and when he opened them again he was back in control....of himself and of situation.

"I am sorry. See I told you several times that I am not heroine material. I dont even understand what to wear at party, how to do makeup...now look at me....I am looking so bad and I...I disappointed you." Minni apologised even though it was not her fault. As the words escaped her mouth she herself wondered what was she was more upset about that she is not looking good or she disappointed him. Why his approval, his validation was so important for her? Was it because he was her mentor or is it something else?

"Honey! You are a star. Dont overthink about it. It was kind of my fault too. I sent the team there, I should have called you here and made sure they get you ready perfectly. Now stop crying and smile, I am gonna make everything alright." Neil assured and Minni just nodded.

"I said smile...for me." Neil asked again and this time he was rewarded with a small smile. Khatri came with the designers and makeup team and Neil became busy in bashing them left, right and center while Minni kept looking at him wondering why is that she didnt have a mood for smiling but his words, "for me" made her change her will.

"What a pathetic excuse in the name of makeover you have given to my heroine? Do I pay you to ruin the launch party of my heroine? I wanted you to make her diva, simple, classy, sexy but you turned her into some saste production house ki sasti struggling heroine." Neil shouted.

"Sir humne to bahut koshish ki thi jaisa aapne kaha hai waisa karne ki lekin Minni ji ki sister and aunty ne maani hi nahi hamari baat aur..." Team tried to tell the truth.

"Aur tumne un dono ki chalne di...you are professionals and wo abhi struggler bhi nahi bane theek se phir bhi you people let them ruin Minni's look. You know what...I am done with you all. You are fired. Dont you ever show me your faces again." Neil gave his judgement.

"Sir ji, hum pehle hi late ho chuke hain, party mein sabhi log aa chuke hain sab aapke bare mein aur film ki heroine ke bare mein puch rahe hain...agar un logo ko abhi nikaal denge to Minni ji ko ready kaun karega is waqt?" Khatri panciked when he thought about how media persons were hounding him outside.

Khatri was right. At this time and short notice how will get Minni ready but Neil was too egoistic to take back his words.

"Its not their fault. Please dont punish them because Preet's and Naeem bi's stupidity or my ignorance." Minni had heard about Neil's temper but she could not help but request as she never could bear someone else's loss due to her fault.

Neil saw genuine concern in Minni's eyes. He couldnt believe someone can be as empathetic, benevolent and naive as her in today's world. May be its the part of her beauty charm which makes her special and different from others. So for the first time he gave priority to someone over his ego and anger. "Fine! They can have their jobs but I want them to rectify this mistake. Get Minni ready all over again and this time in my presence. I will look into myself that she looks like a heroine...superstar Neil Oberoi's heroine."

The team members sighed in relief while Khatri had his mouth open in shock as in all these years it was very first time that superstar Neil Oberoi had forgiven a mistake.

The designers and makeup artists scurried everywhere to get Minni ready as per Neil's instruction. The wardrobe was brought again and Neil himself chose the champagne color gown for her. It had decent neckline from front for which Minni was thankful and deep V cut on back making it sexy but not too revealing. It had slit on one side which ran upto few inches above knee but it only gave glimpse of her slender leg when she chose to pose for a click otherwise it was just a classy cut made to accentuate the sex appeal of dress. Dress was not too tight figure hugging outfit but not a lose frill frock too. It was a comfortable fit hugging her curves at all the right places.

Neil had not left the room for once and Minni was getting butterflies in her stomach whenever he was staring at her or suggesting something about her look. He was involved in selecting her dress to sandals, from accessories to makeup. Neil ordered he wanted nude makeup except for the smokey look around the eyes and her hair would be tied in high bun but some curls should be left open to wander around her beautiful face. In accessories, were large danglers earrings and bracelet to make her look complete which Neil himself made her wear and Minni stopped breathing when he came so close to her that his breath was almost caressing her neck.

Minni finally enjoyed getting ready for her big day. She was not at all stressed like she was in her chawl but she felt secure and she knew Neil would not let her fall. Finally the time came when she turned around to look herself in the mirror. For once she could not recognize herself. What she was when she came in and what she is now. She acknowledge she was actually looking sexy and not in a vulgar way but in a most classy way possible. She looked like one of those heroines whom she have seen on big screen. She kept denying everytime when Neil said he has seen a star in her but tonight she saw the reflection of that star in the mirror. May be Neil was always right, may be she can really be this heroine and pull this off with grace. She knew she looked beautiful but still she waited for the words of appreciation from that person's mouth who had this midas touch to transform someone like her into a diva, who was her mentor, her guide, her crush....may be more than that.

Neil turned around her and looked straight into her eyes. "Now you are looking my heroine, the future shining star of bollywood, my beautiful honey." Minni's look become even more ethreal with blush coloring her cheeks.

"Come, its time to shine." Neil said and extended his hand towards her. Minni held his hand confidently and together they made their grand entry into the party, hand in hand, on the stage.

All lights were put off except the those one on stage. First the announcement was made about the film by Aadesh Oberoi, Neil's dad and then he showed the first poster of film having Neil and Minni's still pics, in which they were intensely looking in each others eyes. Then the name, "Ek Ishq ek junoon" came on the screen. The guests applauded and cheered. And finally the lead pair came on stage. Neil looking as handsome as ever in brown party suit and holding his hand a very graceful, sexy yet innocent looking girl came in the limelight. Media went crazy to click her pictures. But before they could have interacted with her, they were in for a surprise as superstar Neil Oberoi decided to have a dance with his heroine.

Neil instructed for music and Minni panicked at the change of plan. "What are you doing? Dance? When did you plan this? I have not practised." She whispered in his ears.

"Relax honey! Its just few repetitive steps. They are all going crazy to interact with you. Let them wait and tease some more. Besides, lets give them some glimpse of how our chemistry is as after all we are doing a love story." Neil winked as he knew all tactics of this industry to create hype, how to make news and provoke gossips.

Minni had no option but to trust on Neil and follow him. The song started playing and after initial awkwardness for few seconds Minni decided to forget about surrounding and concentrate on her dance. She decided she would not look elsewhere but at Neil, this way she would not feel scared or shy from media. But she didnt know it was her biggest mistake and what impact it would have on her life, she will not be able to change it. The moment his hand snaked from her waist to her back for support and her eyes were locked with his, she knew she has lost this battle. Those black mesmerizing eyes will forever held her captive and she will always seek warmth of his embrace as her respite. The song continued as both of them kept swaying to the music, lost in each other.

Neil thought he knew what he was doing, he thought he was practical, always in control but why he felt tonight his emotions were going crazy and getting control over his practical side. The moment his 'heroine' surrendered herself completely to him, entrusting him with her prestige before all the world, he felt like a knight in shining armor to his honey, the urge to protect her from the evil eyes of the world was so much that he couldnt help but hugged her passionately at the end of the song. Only the thunderous applause at the end broke his trance.

He thought he was acting but was he really? He had romanced several heroines, even done intimate scene and shared sizzling chemistry with female lead in many movies but never did he ever lost control or felt anything lingering upon him once the director said cut but what happened to him few moments ago?" Neil was lost in his thoughts when media gathered around them, going all gaga over the new heroine and the sizzling chemistry they saw on stage.
