Of course she will blame HS for what happens between Minnie and him, especially if they come to the conclusion that they really can't or don't want to be father-daughter.

I also realized one thing. In media, stories, folklore, etc. there are always stories about how women are unfairly labeled as evil/mean/unjust stepmothers and how such women often struggle to build the bonds with the new children over time.

No one ever talks about the stepfathers and their plight. HS is in exactly that position with no prior experience or idea of what to do, and he didn't have any good references as a child as to what a good father should be like. It will take him time. Just like women are hurt when called sauteli, men are hurt too when called sautela. He was really really hurt today because even if Babita didn't say the word sautela itself, saying sagi beti had the same meaning and impact. She was sounding like all the other people who say such stuff.

Jab woh khud sagi maa ho kar Minnie ko nahin samajh paati hai to HS ko kyon ye sab keh rahi hai? Has she tried to help him, like really help him understand Minnie?

Didn't she say she wanted to be a home maker? Also she let HS know she couldn't live without him, so none of the above is gonna happen.

I don't see HS ever being able to divorce her but yeah, one day he might just do a Rhett Butler on her.

From what Mickey said, it was as though we (and HS and Minnie) needed to be resigned to the fact that Babita aisi hi hai aur aisi hi rahegi. It's hard for her to change.
