I actually quite liked today’s episode. Of course, it felt a bit shorter since we’ve been spoiled with 30+ minutes for the past few weeks. This is a really short update because I quite liked the episode.
The common themes here were rishton ka karz, ehsaan.
I loved how Minnie had correctly termed it as dil ka rishta and dard ka rishta that they shared with HS. Babita still did not want to speak about it openly in front of Pinku, but I hope he eventually supports Babita. Quite likely, since he has apologized to both Babita and HS. It was lovely to see Minnie have fun with her uncle and aunt.
Also loved the way HS and Minnie were feeding each other sweets, unaware of the bombshell that was about to drop on them soon.
Naeem Bi made Dadu her brother. Some thing is going to happen to/with her. She keeps talking about riston ka karz. Babita had acknowledged that HS had convinced Pinku to come. Beeji finally acknowledged that he had a heart of gold. She asked Babita again what she thought of HS as a life partner. It was nice to see Dadu explaining that if Babita chose HS it should be for herself too. Feeling uncomfortable, Babita went back home.
As HS was busy washing his feet (because that’s the kind of thing the ML on our show does), Minnie asked him to wait so that Babita could talk to him.
There was an awkward silence, which HS broke by asking Minnie to ask her mother what she wanted to say.
Keh de apne Hanuman Uncle se, inhe thanks bolna tha mujhe.
Itna kuch kiya unhon ne, Pinku ko mana kar le aaye.
Itna soch inhon ne humaare liye, itna bada ehsaan kiya, shukriya bolna to banta hai na Minnie?
Ehsaan? Chhori bol de thaari mummy ne, agar kissi ke liye kuch karna agar ehsaan hota hai na to teri mummy ne bohot bada ehsaan kiya mere pe. Mhaari Imarti ka letter padh ke. Uske andar ke bhav ko samajh ke. Bapu ne sunaya tha na wo letter? To mhaari taraf se bhi thanks, shukriya, dhanyavad.
Ehsaan ki batein karte hain. HS’ anger was rising by the minute. Why did she keep doing this? Why did she keep pushing him away? After what they had done for each other, she wanted to settle scores? They had both reunited the other with a family member who had been estranged because of their love and care. Why belittle it?
The doorbell rang, bringing with it bad news for HS and his daughter. Babita had planned to move out of the haveli in a couple of days. Minnie looked at HS to see how he was taking the news. The look that HS gave said it all. He was angry because she had not even consulted or informed him about moving out. What he had thought to be her temporary anger turned out to be something far more serious serious. I guess he did not put in early exit penalties on their lease. She had treated him as a complete stranger, leaving him out of the loop about something as crucial as this. Not only that, it meant she was taking his daughter away too. Upset, he left the house without a word.
Babita herself did not seem confident of her decision anymore. She asked Minnie if she was upset, but her daughter made it clear that even though she thought her mother’s decision was wrong, she would still stand by her. Ashnoor was fantastic in how she went from wearing as smile one minute with her mother, which didn’t reach her yes, to turning around and showing her about to break into tears.
Minnie found her father outside, wiping his bike, as though nothing had happened.
Hanuman Uncle, aap hurt ho na?
Nahin to chhori. Arey, tanne aise hi koi misconception sa ho gaya. Main hurt wurt na hoon.
Nahin ho?
Arey main to khush hoon. Tum mother daughter rmhaari haveli se chale jaoge na, to phir main azada hoon mhaare ghar mein. Jaise chaahe waise rahoon. Chaddar laga ke nahaane ki bhi zaroorat phi na padegi. Aaram se rahoonga mhaare ghar mein.
My heart broke for him when he said that. There is no way he could go back to living like used to before they had entered his life. There would be no aaram for his mind and heart, and the darkness would eat away at his insides.
He was going to the police station, the only place he could hide from everyone. He did not even protest to going to the tailors for Naeem Bi, one last time. I really wonder why she said that. I pray and hope nothing happens to her.
Minnie requested him to take her on a spin on his bike. She wanted to spend the last day with him, but he refused. He was vulnerable right now and did not want his daughter to see him that way. He did not think he could control his emotions so he wanted to keep her at a distance until he had them in check.
Bichhad thodi rahe hain koi? He asked, making light of the situation. Aur tum log shift bhi hogey to kahan honge? Patiala mein to kahin hongey?
Arey jab bhi yaad karegi, haazir ho jaonga tere liye. Hanuman Singh sadev aap ki seva mein tathpar.
Minnie kept pleading with him.
Please na Hanuman Uncle, mana mat karo. Aaj ka din mujhe aap ke saath spend karne do na please?
Rehne de, kyon zid kar rahi hai tu.
Nahin manogey apne Veer Balika ki baat?
How could her refuse her when she said that? He asked her to bring her helmet and as she sat behind him on the bike, the look in his eyes told us how heartbroken he was. Aniruddh did a fabulous job here, just with his eyes.
I repeat here what I said in a previous post. I am hoping they will address HS' insecurities regarding Minnie and his inability to exert his paternal rights. He couldn't even say anything to stop his daughter from leaving.
How come as a father he felt his involvement in her life would be limited to showing up when she called or asked for him or vice-versa, as though he were a visitor? Why could he not say to Babita, "If you want to go, fine. My daughter stays with me?"
He couldn’t. There was something there that I would love to see our expert CVs explore. I would be curious to see if his marriage proposal is influenced by this to some extent. I know he would never want to have Minnie live with him at the expense of separating her from Babita but Babita does not seem to care about him being left alone without his daughter.
Naeem Bi tried to talk some sense into Babita and addressed her fears. She beautifully explained how she understood that Babita was afraid of believing in and reaching out for happiness. You could not trap the rays of the sun in your hand. Your determination and stubbornness that could make the impossible possible. I really loved the analogy NB presented to the point where I think I will use it in my daily life.
You should not try to grasp the rays in your hand, but if you left your palm open then you might be able to experience some of it. Rather than expecting perfection in every moment of her second innings she should enjoy the moments of happiness that come along.
We got some scenes of Babita remembering various forms of physical contact with HS (this seems to affect her a lot). I think she is afraid of her own feelings and unsure how to tap into/handle her desire. A lot of these feelings are new and unexplored. Little does she know that HS is the perfect partner to accompany her on the journey. She also remembered some of the simple but beautiful moments she shared with him. In all her good times and bad, he had been there as a constant in her life. He made her feel things she never had, so why was she afraid to let herself go?
I think the CVs are going with exploring her opening up as a woman and being more in touch with her own desires, hidden or otherwise. I can't wait!
In the meantime, Babita, please khud ko pyaasi mat rakho. Itna awesome banda mila hai jo tum par pyaar barsaane ko taiyyar hai.
Instead of pyaasi hoon main pyaasi rehne do you should be more like bheeg loon, bheeg loon, aaj mein, teri baarish mein bheeg loon.
