Today's episode was unlike past some episodes but in a light hearted manner writers brought out the contrast that exists in our society..

A very well educated man who has worked abroad for almost 10 years and worked with female colleague was questioning her capabilities to handle job at hand in their own country.. not trusting her skills.. He would rather have her sit at home then take up this 'man's job'. Some jobs are for only for guys he thinks.. On the look of it he seems to be guy who fell in love with that working woman but as she became his to be wife...he is showing true colors.. undermining her capabilities..and restricting her dreams ..

On the other hand this Thanedar Hanuman Singh.. a man with village background , a mother who died by being abused from father.. and I am sure in his growing years too he wud have similar notions of women being less than men.. Change came when he fell in love with a different kind of woman.. He changed so much that now he is able to recognize power in that nervous , shy woman in his house to be a daring cop..He is the one who believes in her to be that brave woman in 'man's space'..

Such contrast in thinking of these two men.. so beautifully depicted parallely in the show..

I do feel bad for her. She is not too bad either. Falling in love with a wrong man was her first mistake, leaving her family for him is second mistake, and now going to marry him will be her ultimate mistake. Being in love she became selfish. She was insecure of Babitha and Mini but never thought anything bad for them unlike Ashok. And yes she got angry at times, why? because all the blame were put on her when Ashok too should be blamed. One cannot clap with one hand, we need two hands for it.

It would be very nice if she leaves this Ashok. But I don't think so this will happen now, may be in future she will either leave him or this Ashok may learn his lesson and change for good.

Plus, I am not Meeta lover...I will always love my Babes, Mini, and Hanuman Singh.

Well written , it's sad that how two men thinking on women is, while Ashok who is educated and worked in abroad still think that Meeta can't work with Indian Men, while HS who knew babitha till now didn't work believes that SHE will surly get good JOB and successful in life...How broad and positive HS thinking is, while how narrow and selfish Ashok really..

Atleast now Meeta understand how narrow HS really ? 😕

Well said! What a contrast between how the two characters of hanuman singh and Ashok think.

What Ashok said is actually what most people (including men and women) generally think about women working on such jobs so nothing new there. And like Meeta said, he was probably trying to protect her just like he helped Babita and Mini and booked a taxi for their safety. But what Hanuman Singh thinks is actually not so common. His thinking differs from the common mentality. The way he looks at women and their potential is very refreshing and uncommon and thats what makes him a sweetheart.

This is why this show is spot on. NRIs nearly always have more regressive ideas of what it is to be Indian (especially men) than resident Indians. Because Indian culture and sociopolitics in India is fluid and driven by the under 30s who are changeable. Abroad it's driven by the over 30s and is very restrictive. For example you can see Gujarati women in the UK doing laaj at home when their relatives in the Gujarat wouldn't even dream of it.
