Talk about taking reality shows a notch higher! NDTV Imagine's Pati Patni aur Woh will feature Swati Chitnis, (earlier seen in Jasuben … and now in Mitwa) as a guest entrant for their special Godh Bharai episode.

According to our source, "Rakhi, Debina, Mouni and Juhi are dressed up in bright colored traditional clothes and heavy jewelry for the occasion. Swati Chitnis took up the mother's role and showered the couple with blessings. She beautifully fulfilled all that is involved in the ritual of godh bharai. She applied tikha on their forehead and placed gifts and fruits on their lap (godh). She also gave them useful tips on parenting."

Oh well, why is Shilpa's name missing from the list of ladies, right? Our source explains, "Shilpa could not wear the empathy belly due to her back problem. The empathy bellies weighed nearly 15 kg, the weight of which Shilpa could not bear. So it was Apoorva, the very understanding hubby who volunteered to wear it, just so that they do not miss out this phase of the show."

However, Apoorva's godh bharai was not done separately. He just joined in with the ladies, and Shilpa once again played the husband's role.

The fact that Apoorva Agnihotri is one of the best actors on the small screen is undisputable. This popular actor has not only carved a niche for himself in the hearts of the audience of the small screen but has also made his mark in the silver screen with his splendid performances. His childhood dream was to become an actor but his destiny had something else in store for him and he ultimate chose the profession of acting. He also belongs to a film background. His father Gyandev Agnihotri was a film writer. He wrote many award winning films like Mr.Natwarlal, Do Aur Do Paanch, Yaarana, Beta and many more.

On silver screen Apoorva Agnihotri made his debut in Bollywood with Pardes in the year 1997 paired opposite the most popular actor of the recent times, Shahrukh Khan and the sizzling beauty Mahima Chaudhury. He should have been an overnight star after the success of the film but destiny did not favor him and he had to be content with the ward of the Best supporting Actor in the Lux Zee Cine Awards, a prestigious awards ceremony in the Bollywood film industry. Following this remarkable achievement, he also enacted important characters in the films titled, Pyaar Koi Khel Nahin (1999), Krodh (2000), Hum Ho Gaye Aapke (2001), and Dhund-The Fog (2003). But his film career failed to off in the silver screen and he chose to try his luck in the small screen. And this decision of his proved to be the turning point in his life.

kaajalApoorva Agnihotri achieved immense popularity in the small screen awards after the success of the popular tele-soap Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin in which he enacted the character of Armaan Suri. It was a conscious decision on his part to join television. It Tony and Diya Singh who called him up one fine day and said they were coming up with something path breaking. When he heard the script he just loved it and did not have any second thoughts about it. He agreed to be a part of this project and the rest is history. In this serial he was a man with gray shades who fell in love with his secretary Jasmeet Walia despite her ordinary looks. His character in this serial was manipulative, charming, loving and adorable. He went out of his way to make things work out for his relation and in the end got united with his beloved and lived happily ever after. Currently he is seen in the serial titled Kaajal, which is aired on the Sony television. In this soap he is a young and rich debonair who is also the main protagonist. Initially he appeared to be an arrogant, brash, rude person but later on as the story got unfolded he appeared to possess a heart of gem. The heroine of the serial Kaajal occupied a special position in his heart, he also knows that she loves him but is scared of his destiny, as he believes that whoever he loves or has been closed to, destiny has taken them away from him. His acting and his passion in this role have made his fans believe that he is undoubtedly one of the finest actors on the small screen. He ignites the romantic scenes in this serial with his terrific performance.

When asked about his failure post Pardes he remarks that the industry is a strange place and likes to typecast actors and that is what exactly happened with him also. He further went on to say that the kind of roles he was getting after Pardes was more on the same lines and he refused to do them. The films, which he chose unfortunately, did not do very well. He also adds that he did the roles in the later films mainly because of money and creative satisfaction. What drives him in his life is motivation to excel. His favorite co-star on the sets is another popular television actor, Parmeet Singh who is also the husband of the much popular silver screen supporting actress Archana Puran Singh. He also shares a great rapport with his other co-stars. With Mona Singh he feels that something magical happens when they perform together. When asked about the most memorable day in his life he says that it has to be the day he signed for the movie Pardes. It was indeed a dream come true for the young man who was a movie buff and was waiting eagerly to enter into the filmdom.

When asked in a recent interview whether she would fall in love with Jassi in his real life, the answer that the actor gave was really awe-inspiring. He said that would love to fall for a girl like Jassi because her heart was of gold. According to him the outer beauty vanishes after a certain span. What remains with one forever is the inner beauty. It has also proved true in his real life. He is happily married to Shilpa Saklani whom he met through a common friend and other popular television actor and anchor Rakshanda Khan. When he first met her with at a coffee shop in Mumbai it was love at first sight and the only thing that was on his mind was marriage and he chose to marry her. Though it took some time for them to know each other they ultimately ended up tying the knot. He also claims that he has a beautiful wife in Shilpa who is a multi-faceted personality. His wife also loves his screen image and is his biggest critic. Besides his wife his dream date would be Salma Hayek. According to him the sexiest babe in television is also his wife. When asked about his take on beauty he very nicely comments that the outer beauty is something but not everything. To him looking good is not the end of the road and doesn't necessarily mean that one has got it all. At the end of the day the heart is all what matters. He is also of the firm belief that his job is to react only on screen and not to think about it. This much popular actor has not only made an impact his fans but also has also captivated the hearts of her co-stars with his extreme talent and professionalism. But only time will prove how much Apoorva Agnihotri stands up to the faith shown in him by the audience. He expects the audience to love him forever and he will also love them in return.

Pati Patni Aur Woh-Apurva Agnihotri-Shilpa Saklani

Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani will be seen in the reality TV show Pati Patni Aur Woh.

Shilpa Saklani and Apurva Agnihotri are returning on small screen after a long gap, and for the first time the duo will be seen together in a reality show called Pati Patni Aur Woh. The duo had been happily married for many years, but still there is no woh (baby). They still want more time to extend their family. But that surely won't stop them from trying their hands at parenting, even if it means taking a baby on udhari!

You both are making an appearance together after a long time. What made you take up this show?

Apurva: This is something not attempted on television, which makes the whole thing very exciting. Handling a baby is an unknown territory for us. Let's see, how we handle this.

Shilpa: It is a different ball game when you have to take care of the entire stuff of a baby. Who is going to handle what department?

Apurva: Both of us will be taking care of all the departments. For now, we haven't been assigned on who will be doing what.

Shilpa: Just imagine if the small baby is for 8 days with you, aap ki toh band he baj jayegi…

Apurav: Babies know the touch of their mother, and at this point you give them to some unknown hands, it's difficult for them, as well as for us also.

For who are you looking forward to, a baby girl or a boy?

Apurva: I am looking for a cute baby girl. We know it's not going to be a cakewalk for us, but still eagerly waiting for the shoot to start.

Shilpa: Looking for a cute little baby doll, as then I will keep dressing her and making her look beautiful, like we use to do in our childhood days with dolls. Boys like to play with machine guns, which disturb me a lot.

Apurva: I would love that.

Shilpa: If my son brings a lizard, I will first pass-out and then lock him in the loo for sometime.

But hypothetically, who will be taking care of the baby and who will go out and work?

Shilpa: My hubby is very loving and caring and thus, he will do all the stuff. I am sure he will be a good manager of both the worlds.

Apurva Agnihotri's pregnancy woes!

Television actor Apurva Agnihotri is yet to become a father in real life, but the actor has already had a brush with the ordeals of pregnancy when for a reality show he donned an empathy belly to experience what a nine-month pregnant woman goes through.
As part of NDTV Imagine's new show "Pati Patni Aur Woh", Apurva and his wife Shilpa Sakhalani, along with four other celebrity couples, are required to go through various stages of parenthood.

In the first few days of shooting, the female participants had to don an empathy belly, but since Shilpa couldn't do it because of her back problem, Apurva had no option but to pitch in and he doesn't have too many good memories of it.

"Initially I thought it would be a walk in the park. But within half an hour my back was aching, my head was spinning, I was giddy, I couldn't walk and neither could I lie down," Apurva told IANS, while sitting in his colourful and well-maintained villa, hired especially for the show.

"I was hoping it would be removed off my chest in a while because I am a man and because I wore it only due to Shilpa's back problem. But I had to wear it for around one and a half days. It was traumatic, but then I managed somehow.

"The belly was really heavy, around 15 kgs. And the last thing you can do with it is sleep. You actually feel that someone is sitting on your tummy and shivering and you just want the person off you. It was bad," he quipped.

Apurva, who is best remembered for playing the bad boy in Subhash Ghai's "Pardes" as well as for essaying the role of Armaan Suri in popular TV show "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin", is otherwise quite happy to receive "free training" on the show and so is his wife.

"We have learnt a lot in the infant stage. From A-Z, we are completely trained (as parents) now. I can be a nurse or a nanny now and can give tips to my friends. It's perfect guidance and free training for us," said Shilpa.

Asked why they decided to take up a show like this, Shilpa said: "The incentive was the novelty of the concept. It's a never heard or seen before concept in India. It was also a break for us from singing and dancing shows, from repetitive, scripted dramas that looked fake, seemed fake and made us feel fake. Thankfully the concept was different, that's what brought us in."

Even after getting twin kids for the infant stage of the show, the two actors are not complaining and are rather happy with their decision to participate.

"Parenting skills is one aspect of each other we didn't know. Now that we are in this set up, we have seen how well both of us will react in such a situation. The bond between us has been strengthened more and that's one plus point of the show till now. And we hope to start a family soon after the show," said Apurva.

Talking point with Apoorva Agnihotri

You are working on a new show called Radhaa Ki Betiyaan… kuchh kar dikhaengi on NDTV Imagine. How's it been so far?

It is looking good. It is a strong script. There has been a lot of positive response from the audience. Also, the show is a weekly and so we get ample time to get all our scenes right.

How's your character shaping up for the same?

For a change, I'm not arrogant. I play the role of a doctor who is kind and cares for everyone. Every character in the serial is carved out very well.

After Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, this is your second show with DJ, the production house.

You can never go wrong with them. They are known to try out different things. Also, NDTV Imagine has a lot of intelligent people; it's fun to work with them.

You are sporting a lean look and long hair for this serial. Are you undergoing an image makeover?

Shilpa (Saklani, his wife) was bored of my short hair so I decided to grow it long. I'm also doing a lot of cardio as I had put on some weight.

When do we see you paired with your wife?

I have no clue. Even I am waiting for that day. If we get a good script, we will grab it tomorrow.

You have never been part of Balaji Telefilms. Your comment.

May be they don't want me there. May be if things work out in future you will see me working in one of their serials.

What's happening with movies? Are you doing any?

I'm submerged in television right now. Honestly, I'm not keen on doing any movies. If all goes well, you might see me behind the camera in some time.
