It's the day of the engagement. A lot has been going on. Frustrations, insecurities, hurt and pain riddle the heart and mind of Shiva Pandya. Angry at everything going on, Raavi throws his engagement ring in the well. Agitated, Suman wheels herself over in order to catch it but ends up almost hurling herself in. Panicked, scared, Shiva jumps after her. He holds onto the edge of the well with one hand, and holds onto Suman with the other. The Pandya Brothers rush to save them, help them. Gautam and Dev try to pull Shiva up. Shiva responds 'Gombi! Aap pehle Ma ko bahar nikalo!' He does his best to hold onto her, with dear life. Dev and Gautam rescue Suman and reach back in for Shiva. Shiva looks at them. Then he looks at Raavi standing beside the edge of the well. Tears in her eyes. Tears he put in her eyes. He thinks about everything that happened and thinks about how there is no way to stop this engagement from going through. Suman had given him her kasam and he could not go against that. He felt his hand at the edge of the well. He felt Dev and Gombi's arms trying to pull him up. Lost in the chaos that was going on, Shiva suddenly let go. He'd been holding everything within him for days, weeks, months. He was tired. Tired of the fighting.. tired of being ridiculed and hurt and tired of hurting her. He closes his eyes and let's go.
He begins to fall.
In the water he starts to drown, as the water starts rising above him and he keeps sinking...
Memories come flashing to him. Of all the pain, hurt, misery, anger, heartache and betrayal- betrayal of himself TO himself and to Raavi. He betrayed himself by not being straight with her, by not telling her sooner how he felt. He betrayed her by ruining her life (in his pov). By forcing her to be bound to a loveless marriage where she didn't really have a choice. Where she deserved better. And no matter how hard he tried to understand her, the distance between them kept increasing..
All the memories- Sneha, Rahul/Rohan, Kawad Yatra, divorce, her coming back for Dhara, her telling him she would change herself for him, him actually changing himself for her, her hurt reaction with Disha, everything comes to him.. and lastly he remembers;
"Mujhe bhi talaaq chahiye Shiva"
He remembers her words.
Defeated, he gives up. He gives in. He resigns himself to his fate. 'Raavi to tujhe milne se rahi. Shayad is Chipkali ke sath rehna tere naseeb me tha hi nahi' he thought to himself.
He closes his eyes and goes underwater, giving up.. & just then-
He hears a voice "SHIVA!!" He hears HER voice. She calls out to him. He's stunned. Shocked but numbed. He recalls everything he loves about her. The way she fights with him, the way her innocence is reflected on her face, the way she gets scared of fake lizards.. And the way he almost lost her, not once but twice. He can't leave her. Not yet. Not like this. He opens his eyes and surfaces above water and sees her worried face, she's in tears and he smiles.. Smiles at his Chipkali.. His Raavi.
The divorce is cancelled.
There's no way he would be with anyone other than her. Looking at her worried face relieves him.
In this moment, he feels happy.. Content.. Liberated..
