Part 17

Raavi was shaking in anger. She knew it! This Rita had wrong intentions for her Shiva. How dare she say what she said just now? Shiva was hers and only hers. She wanted to hit Rita but she clenched her fists trying to contain the anger she was feeling. But this Rita needed to be taught a lesson. She took a second to compose herself and smiled cruelly.

“Tumhara Shiva? Tumhara?” Raavi laughed. She brought out the pendant which was hidden beneath her T-shirt. “Yeh lo. Tumhare Shiva ki nishaani mere paas.”

Rita didn’t let her surprise show. “Raavi woh tumse pyaar karta hai jaanti hu. Par tum humesha use hurt karti ho. Bachpan se use hurt karti aayi ho. Aur ab use pyaar ki ummeed dikha ke usi ummeed ko cheen rahi ho.”

“Mere aur Shiva ke beech jo bhi ho usme tumhe kuch bhi bolne ka haq nahi hai.”

“Tumhe use hurt karke kya milega?” Rita asked. “Main pyaar karti hu Shiva se. Bachpan se. Par maine kuch kaha nahi kyuki tum humesha se humare beech aa jaati thi.”

“Rita beech mein tum aa rahi ho.” Raavi shouted. Then she again took a breath to compose herself. “Achha hoga ki tum peeche hat jao. Shiva tumhe ghum ke bhi nahi dekhega.”

“Main use tumse behtar samajhti hu!” Rita asserted herself.

“Mujhe bhi lagta tha ki main Dev ke liye bani hu par woh galat tha aur tum jo soch rahi ho woh bhi galat hai. Bas ab mujhe aur mat pakao. Goodbye!”

Raavi turned to leave but Rita caught her arm.

“Tum uski feelings ke saath khel rahi ho!” Rita said. “Woh apni zindagi mein khushi deserve karta hai aur main woh khushi de sakti hu.”

Raavi rolled her eyes. She needed a reality check! “Woh mere saath bhi bohot khush hai Rita. Har tarah se. Kal raat bhi mere kamre mein hi tha woh.”

Rita took a step back with shock written all over her face. Tears started rolling out of her eyes. “Main pyaar karti hu usse. Tum toh woh bhi nahi karti!”

This finally ended all the patience she had left. “Karti hu. Bohot pyaar karti hu main Shiva se. Main usse jitna pyaar karti hu utna pyaar tum usse dus janam mein bhi nahi kar paogi!”

Raavi kept her eyes trained on Rita. She had a hard time keeping her hands to herself. Now she understood why Shiva couldn’t control himself when he was angry. Even she wanted to hit the girl in front of her, but Rita suddenly started laughing. Raavi’s anger surged up even more. Why was she laughing now?

“Idiot!” Rita exclaimed. “Yahi baat Shiva ko bologi toh koi problem hi nahi rahegi.”

“Kya matlab?” Raavi asked.

“Raavi yaar, itni bhi dobi mat ban. Tum pyaar karti ho Shiva se! Khud kyu nahi samajh pa rahi?” Rita asked.

“Tum Shiva se pyaar nahi karti? Raavi asked.

“Bilkul bhi nahi! Woh sirf mera dost hai. Par aaj store mein tumhara reaction dekhke main samajh gayi ki tum bhi pyaar karti ho usse. But tum dono itne stupid ho ki khud situation ko complicate kiye ja rahe ho!”

Raavi was dumbstruck. Then she suddenly realised that she had confessed that she loved Shiva. She gasped out loud. Rita was still looking at her with a smile. Raavi hugged her.

“Rita! Thank you thank you thank you!! Main samajh hi nahi payi-“ Raavi broke the hug and smiled at her. “Aur sorry tumse waise baat karne ke liye.”

“It’s okay. Mujhe toh laga tha tum mujhe maar hi dogi.”

Raavi smiled and she thought about Shiva. She loved him and she was willing to marry him. Even if it turned out to be the worst decision of her life, she would marry him because she loved him so, so much. Rita had been right. She had been complicating things for the both of them. Raavi bid goodbye to her and ran to Pandya house. Raavi banged on the door loudly and Dhara opened it looking surprised. Raavi hugged her Dhara di tightly.

“Kya hua Raavi?” Dhara asked. “Tu iss waqt?”

“Dhara di mujhe Shiva se baat karni hai!” Raavi said.

“Tu phir aa gayi?” Shiva shouted from behind.

Raavi smiled as she saw him. She took his arm and led him to the storeroom. Shiva was blushing red as she took him to the storeroom in front of everyone, without caring about anyone’s reaction but Raavi didn’t care about anyone else at the moment. The family knew they loved each other, so they thought it would be best to give them some privacy.

Raavi took him inside and locked the door. She took a long breath and looked at him. It was the moment. She had to confess her feelings to him, and she was feeling awfully nervous about it.

“Shiva main ek number ki dobi hu.” Raavi said.

“Pata hai.” He said.

“Main samajh nahi payi ki …” Raavi blushed. “Shiva main tujhse…”

“Mujhse kya?”

“Baat kabhi chooriyon ki thi hi nahi. Woh toh sirf ek bahana tha khud ko tujhse jodne ka. Bas main khud nahi samajh payi.” Raavi said.

“Kyu jodna tha?” Shiva asked.

“Shiva! Teri bhi galti hai. Mujhe bata deta apni feelings ke baare mein toh itna confusion hi nahi hota. Gadhera!”

“Gadheri tu hai jo Haa aur na ke beech atki hai. Shaadi karni hai par kyu karni hai nahi pata! Yeh kya baat hui? Itni zyada stupid baat maine zindagi mein kabhi nahi suna.”

“Haa toh tu jaise bohot smart hai. Baat baat pe mujhe azaad karne chala tha.” Raavi said.

“Bakwaas karna bandh kar. Saaf saaf bata kya bolna chahti hai tu.” Shiva said.

“Bakwaas tu bandh kar aur jaldi se shaadi kar mujhse.” Raavi said. “Mujhe karni hai tujhse shaadi. Shiva main tujhse-“

“Ek minute ruk. Yahi ruk!” Shiva said and went out of the storeroom.

Raavi was annoyed at his behaviour. Here she was confessing her love for him, and he was ignoring her again. What could be more important than this. But before she could go to him, he came back to the storeroom with a gift.

“Yeh le.” Shiva handed her the gift.

Raavi unwrapped the box and found green bangles inside. She was confused, but she burst out laughing. “Hari choodiyan?”

“Haa woh… socha tha tujhe dunga aur keh dunga apne dil ki baat. Par usse pehle hi tujhe pata chal gaya hari choodiyon ka sach.”

“Tu mujhe propose karne wala tha?” Raavi was shocked.

“Haa.” Shiva blushed.

He took out the bangles and got down on one knee. “Shaadi karegi mujhse?”

Raavi nodded. “Haa. I love you Shiva!”

“Main bhi!”

Shiva made her wear the bangles and kissed her. Raavi jumped into his arms and kissed him back.

“Dhara di!! Hum dono shaadi ke liye ready hai.” Raavi shouted and kissed Shiva again.
