That night, as everyone was about to go to sleep, Suman called Shiva, aside and told him to sleep in the aangan for that one night, "Vaise to tu neeche zameen pe hi so jaata hain, yeh baat mujhe bata hain. Aaj ke din aangan main kaat pe so ja, theek hain? Mehmaan hain, aur vo bhi ladki hain, baahar aangan main sone denge tho accha nahi lagega."

Shiva had simply nodded and gone on his way. Raavi hadn't known until everyone left to sleep that night and Shiva had taken that Reshma into their room, his room, whatever. She had stood right there in the middle of the aangan, mouth open in the audacity her husband had just displayed. They weren't even divorced yet!!!

But as Shiva walked back out with a small smile on his face, as Reshma wished him a good night with a huge grin on hers, Raavi simply sat by the well to finish washing the dishes. He had sent her divorce papers, and she had signed them. She had no right to ask him a thing about what he did with his life.

But, it hurt. It hurt that the Shiva who couldn't bother to continue with their sworn enmity could smile at someone else. She couldn't really muffle the first of the sobs. But then, in an effort to make sure Krish didn't hear her, or God forbid, Shiva, she made as much noise as she could washing the vessels. She was pretty sure Shiva would prefer to suffer in silence rather than confront her anyways.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Shiva was trying to sleep. He really was. But that gadhedi refused to leave the bartans for tomorrow, and her clumsy, little hands refused to not throw them around. He had been in such a good mood today. His new friendship with Reshma had felt nice. As he closed his eyes and tried to focus on that feeling of goodness, he heard it. He heard a sob, between her throwing one vessel down and picking the next up noisily. Was she crying? He focused on her, more than the usual, and yes, she was. Alright, that was the end of his patience.

Shiva walked up to her from behind her and pulled her up by her arm, turning her around to face him. One look at her face and he knew she had been crying for much longer than he'd noticed. Anger, it always distracted her enough to stop crying. "Kya problem hain tujhe? Aise ro kyun rahi hain? Ghar main kisi ko doobne ki shauk nahi hain, samjhi tu?"

Her tears stopped almost instantaneously. And the tightness in his heart began to disappear too. But it returned full force when she pulled her hand away from him, turning her face away. "Teri neend kharaab ho raha hain, to bata de, kahin aur jaake apni kaam karti hoon." Saying so, she began washing the vessels again, noisily. Perhaps anger wasn't always the answer.

He kneeled beside her, holding her hands to stop her. "Raavi, Tu aisi kyun ro rahin hain? Kisi ne kuch kahaan hain tujhse?" She shoved his hands away, muttering angrily. "Kehne ke liye kuch bacha kahaan hain? Apne se shikayaten hote hain, paraaye se nahin. Aur vaise bhi, isko kya chahiye abhi. Jaake so jaana chaahiye ta na? Apna Reshma ki sapne ko saath leke?" What she had forgotten was that Shiva could here her, clearly.

"Aye! Kya bakwaas baaten kar rahi hain tu? Reshma ki sapne mujhe kyun aayenge?" She turned around with a shocked, and honestly, furious look on her face. "Kyun aayenge matlab? Dekh, Shiva, Kaaki ne mujhe sab bataa diya hain! Ki voh ladki aur tumhari shaadi ki baaten aage badhane vaale hain sab milke! Vaise to meri dil jal rahi hain subah se, tu aise jhoot bolke, sach chupne ki koshish karke aur mat jalaa!!"

What on earth was this madwoman taking about? Shiva knew his mother well. Perhaps she had done this. But why would Raavi be so angry, she had only come back for Dhara bhabhi, hadn't she? He recalled the words Reshma had whispered to him just before he'd entered the aangan. His girlfriend was jealous, and to not bother hiding things because that Raavi really had no subtlety. Was it possible? Was she really jealous?

"Tu kyun jal rahi hain? Matlab, tumhe koi hak nahi hain jalne ki. Aur bechari Reshma ki kya galti hain isme? Dekh, tu zyaada patni mat ban, theek hain?"

"Patni mat ban matlab?!! Main abhi bhi hoon teri patni! Bhool gaya hain kya? Talaak abhi hui nahin hain! Aur pehla hearing ka date bhi tho postpone hui hai abhi! Aur main kyun jalun ka kya matlab nikaal loon main? Tu to uske saath has raha tha, mere saath tho kabhi nahin hasta tha! Aur vo bhi jab main koshish karti thi tujhe hasaane ki! Vi ladki kya ek do ghatiya joke maar rahi ti tu to aise has raha tha jaise Kapil Sharma ka show chaalu tha?!!!"

She turned around to throw the vessel in her hand at him for an effective end to her tirade when she saw his frozen face. What had she done?

Shiva watched as she froze, before getting up and running away to the bathroom. She was jealous. Because he had smiled with someone else. And hurt because he hadn't with her. And she had tried to make him smile too, Shiva had to accept that this time her pain was truly a, step above his. He hadn't really tried to make her laugh, and it had still hurt like hell to him.

Perhaps they weren't as different as he had assumed. Well, it was a good thing the first hearing had been delayed. But first things first, he had to clear her misunderstandings before an unsuspecting Reshma was poisoned at breakfast tomorrow....

Maahi di! Loved what you wrote, but, my hardcore Shivi shipper heart came up with this twist in it instead🤗. Although, thanks to you, I could not make Reshma a bad third lead, at all.... For Swastu, my behena who seems to be in acute pain by any and all talk of the Shishma ship😆.... Oh god, I just realised how long this has gotten....

Ok, can someone please tag Swastu for me?

She had helped him in his work and was now taking a break.

“To tujhe mele pasand hain!”

“Bahuuuuutttt! Baba ke jaane ke baad main bhi nahin gayi. Bahut yaad aati hai na unki. Toote dil ke saath koi duniya ke mele nahin enjoy karta Shiva.” Reshma sighed. Shiva lowered his head and then his eyes brightened.

“To fir tujhe paas wale mele mein main leke jaaunga aaj! Chal!” He declared and asked Kaka to keep watch as he rushed out.

“Arre Sun to!” Reshma ran out too.

And thats how ten days after Reshma came to them, Shiva and she found herself in a fair. Raavi who had followed them watched them and made sure this girl didn’t cross her limits. But till now she had found Reshma to be a sensible girl. Reshma had tried to befriend her too but Raavi just couldn’t accept her.

And after lots of laughter, rides, cotton candies Shiva and Reshma stopped before a bangle stall, where Shiva chose simple blue bangles n gave it to Reshma.

“Ye le. Blue choodiyan. Dosti ka pehla tohfa meri taraf se!” Shiva said.

Reshma smiled tearfully but accepted it, missing her baba fiercely.

“Thank you.” She whispered. Shiva shook his head and they began to walk towards home. “Pata hai Shiva? Baba ek aam insaan the. Mama se shaadi arranged hui thi. Mama bahut modern thi. Baba ne padhayi poori nahin ki thi. Unhone bas chota mota business start kiya tha tab. Aur shaadi ke baad mama ko bahut adjustment karne pade. Mama ke friends aur kuch relatives ne bhi baba ki bahut beizzati ki par baba ne kabhi iska bura nahin manaya. Mama ko itna chaha ki saari dunya khud bakhud hi shaant ho gai. Aur fir main aayi aur mujhe unhone ek princess ki tarah pala. Aaj unhe dunya unki padhayi ke liye nahin par unki saadgi aur unke hadh se zyada pyaar ke liye yaad karte hain. Mujhe tum mein unki chavi dikhti hai par tum khud ko kaafi nahin smajhte. Bas yahi difference hai.” Reshma told him. And then took his palm and placed a locket over it. A new rudraksh. “Dosti ka pehla tohfa! Meri taraf se...”

She told him.

Kabhi zindagi mein aaao

Kabhi mujhe apna banao

Main khushboo ki tarah tujhe sanwaroon

Tum meri duniya mein chao...

Maahi whenever a new girl is rumoured to enter Shiva's life -

I will make her Shiva's bestie 😎😎

Mtlb what to say? Parents should keep a check on their kids. ✌️
