Addressing the manhandling

I hate how everyone at forum was bashing Dhara for hitting Krish and Shiva while no said anything about Shiva and Dev handling Raavi and Rishta respectively.

Even though Rishita is wrong, the way of explaining it and correcting her was wrong. Grabbing her hand forcefully and dragging her front of everyone is just so bad. Imagine if someone did that to Dhara , would Shiva and Dev be ok with it?

As much as I love Shivi, the way Shiva behaves with Raavi is just wrong. In every episode or two , Shiva is shown grabbing Raavi by her wrist to shut her up. Does he realise she was the same girl who was left at the alter and who almost killed herself. Raavi thinks Shiva left her with the goons , Shiva doesn't clarify her misunderstanding because he doesn't care what people think about him. In one of the previous episodes Shiva tells Raavi that she knows him from childhood not Rishita and how she knows how he really is. Doesn't Shiva also know Raavi from childhood, doesn't he knows that her parents died at a young age? Doesn't he know that his brother left her at the alter for another girl? Doesn't he know that she thinks he left her with the goons? Raavi clearly has abandonment issues , I am not saying that he should treating her like a fragile doll but he could be a little sensitive around her. But instead he manhandles her.

Does Gaumbi treat Dhara that way ? No , then why do Dev and Shiva act like that? Hope Krish never handles his love interest that way.I really like when Suman tells Dev that he shouldn't treat Rishta that way. I wish Shiva witnessed it too.

I'll comment in detail tomorrow morning. But I want to tell you that we do discuss how badly Shiva treats Raavi most of the time and that we want him to apologize to Raavi for his behavior. He does manhandle her and doesn't give her the respect Raavi deserves. Shiva needs to learn to respect women other than his mother and bhabhi.

FYI, maybe nobody made a separate topic like you did but this has been discussed and debated by a lot of people in threads which has more than 3 pages.

Thank you for addressing this.. shiva needs to be sensitive around her .. I know he is a brilliant character bt manhandling can not be justified. I really feel shiva need to change his attitude a little bit I didn't liked him on the wedding night. Raavi is such a sweet heart it's not easy to understand a person who masks his emotions so well.. I wish the creators show more scene like the one where shiva shows marks on his back that was actually good

But disagree on your claim of "no one said" anything about Shiva or Dev manhandling. If you follow EDT, then everytime there is manhandling, we call them out for it. And not just them, but any kind of abuse. This has been called out in the forum too from the beginning/pre-wedding. Even Dev and the way he said to Rishita that you're not even equal to Bhabhi's Dhul. Shiva has been called out to and as many of us have wished, our amazing ff writers on the forums have written OSes about how Shiva should have a realization and amend his ways.

I think a majority, if not all the people tthat I've interacted with here believes that two wrongs don't make one right. We didn't selectively call out certain characters. We've always maintained that manhandling can't be justified for wanting romance just like physical abuse/thrashing by Dhara to ShiSh can't be justified because she's a mother or she also received it. All instances are wrong.

I absolutely hate that they are still showing manhandling in ITV shows. It was there 10 years ago when I watched my previous show and now again in this show. I like the characters of this show but there is no justification for manhandling, and the makers have to come out of their warped thinking that manhandling is cool and fans will love it. No it is not cool, the writers have to be careful about including such scenes, else be ready to be called out. I would like both Dev and Shiva to apologize to their wives for the physical hurt they have caused cuz of this.

What I meant by no one said was that the manhandling issue didn't know get the attention as much as the bashing of Dhara as they were equally bad. I have read many post about manhandling but most of them were one shots or fanfictions so I decided to create a seperate thread so that people can discuss and understand that the way the show is portraying manhandling and romanitcizing it is wrong.

While I understand your motivations behind this post and appreciate you for bringing up a relevant topic, I'd like to clarify that a majority of the people on this forum are not selective about calling out toxic or abusive behaviour, regardless of which character it comes from. Wrt to the manhandling, it has been discussed and frowned upon a lot in the EDT, perhaps you missed out on those conversations since a majority of discussions here happen in the EDT and seperate topics are hardly made - force of habit. Rest assured, you'll find the manhandling has been called out right from the beginning of the show. I remember making a topic revolving aroind the same when the forum had barely any members.

And yup, I agree, Dev and Shiva need to correct their aggressive behaviour with their wives. The one good thing in the show regarding this issue is how the other females always speak against it - back when Dhara was a lovable character, I was really happy by how she always told Shiva off for manhandling Raavi, that was when she wasn't even a prospective bahu and hence Dhara was speaking for all women. And yesterday we saw the same resolve from Suman when Dev spoke to Rishita like that - for all their toxicity/normalisation of abuse and Dhara's recent character assassination, I surely like this particularly strong stance of the PS females when it comes to misbehaviour/dominating behaviour with women.
