A MOMENT OF TERROR

Shiva signed, it was unusual to not have Raavi eating his head at this time of the day, though he wouldn’t admit it on gunpoint it wasn’t too bad having her around it made the slow hours much less torturous and even though nobody asked her she always lend a hand if there were too many customers. She had a habit of walking in both the Pandya house and store like she had every right to be there, more often than not she would come to the store after college when both gaumbi and kaka were had gone home for lunch. She would usually sit on the counter and irritate him or talk nonstop for hours about god knows what. He had never really noticed how it made hours pass much quicker but now that she wasn’t here the silence bothered him. Where the hell was that chipkali.

“Shivaaaaa….”He turned around excited only to see krish coming in with his dabba.

“Gadhera,kyu chilla raha hain, yahi par khada hun main” he asked irritated.

Krish rolled his eyes “Dhara bhabi ne teri pasand ka halwa banaya hain mujhe bola tujhe garm- garm khila du aur tu mujpar he aag ugal raha hai".

Shiva rolled his eyes “haan theek hai, nautanki band kar apni ek tu aur ek wo maami ke behenke beti dono namuna ho, kissi bhi time aa jayegi bak bak karti aur mera aadha halwa kha jayegi ” if shiva sounded fond rather than exaspereted Krish wasn’t the one going to point it out.

“Mat tension le tera halwa koi nahi khayega, tu do hafte shanti se reh kyuki teri chipkali toh maama-maami ke saath Jabalpur gayi”

“Kya! abey yeh kab hua?”

“Kal bata toh rahi thi ke maami ke kissi saheli ke beta ke shaadi hain aur usey bhi saathle ja rahe hain do hafte ke liye” shiva’s eyes widened at that and krish silently chuckled his brother had no idea how comical he looked.

“Waise tujhe itna jhatka kyu laga?”

“Jhatke,khushi hain do hafte tak shanti rahegi pure somnath main” krish rolled his eyes even someone who had never met shiva could tell he was lying, these two really had a very weird relation. Krish decided to have some fun at shivas expanse.

“Haan tu toh khush he hoga, chal teri khushi double karta hun maine maami ko baat karte huesuna tha ke vo raavi ko isliye lekar ja rahe hain taki usey koi ladka pasand aajaye aur vo shaadi ke liye haan bol de”

“Uss mami ka dimaag kharab ho gaya hai kya” he shouted, looking at krish’s raised eyebrow hecalmed himself down “mera matlab hain uss aafat ko kissi bechare ke gale band degi kya”

“Tera kya jaraha hain tera toh peecha choota na aur sooch agar uski shaadi somnath se baharho gayi toh teri toh tension khatam”

Shiva got angry at that “tu kya gali ke auntiyo ke tarah gossip failata retha hain, nikal aur jaake padhai kar”

As soon as Krish left Shiva sat on the chair with a thud he didn’t know why he was feeling so angry almost terrified, Krish had valid points Raavi getting married should make him happy, he should be distributing sweets in the town instead it feels like somebody is draining life out of him slowly.

There hasn’t been a day in the past 15 years when he hasn’t seen, met and fought with her,the idea of her not being here seems to hurt like a wound and her absence bites him even more.

Krish wanted to bang his head on every wall of his house “kya soocha tha, ho kya gaya” since the night krish had told him the story Shiva was biting off heads wherever he went the only person not on the receiving end of his anger was dhara bhabi. Shiva looked like a time bomb ready to burst and Krish put as much distance between him and shiva as he physically could.

“He bhagwaan please bacha lo, zindagi main kabhi jhoot nahi bolunga, abhi toh teen din huye hain sirf, 11 din mein toh shiva pura somnath jala dega, bohot shaunk tha na krish cupid banne ka ab inn dono ke not love story ke chakar mein mujhe kuwara marna padega”

“Khud se kya baat kar raha hain, chup chap nashta kar” shiva snapped at him and dev shook his head.

Krish was waiting for his ultimate demise when the doorbell rung and he eagerly got up to open the door, anything to get away from shiva and there on the other side stood the solution to all his problems. Raavi was standing there, with a suitcase in her hand, looking tired but with her 1000 watt smile still in place.

He hugged her tightly “Mujhe tu yeh bata tu itni jaldi kaise aa gayi”

Before Raavi could answer Dhara di came “Andar toh aane de usey”

Raavi wen tand hugged bhabi “Di maine aapko kitna miss kiya”

“Maine bhi, par tu teen din mein kaise aa gayi?”

“Waha jaate he pelhe toh boring se rishtedaar mil gaye, fir massi ne mujhe ladke dikhaan ashuru kar diye, unka bas chalta toh mere bhi pheere wahi karwa dete, parishan hokar maine unki chai meh neend ke goli daal de aur train pakad kar waapis aagayi, aapke pas” Dharas eyes widened at this “Kya tune unhe neend ke goli dedi, shaatin kahengi” but even she couldn’t keep the amusement out of her voice.

All this while only Krish noticed how happy shiva looked and the cloud of anger looming on him vanished.

“Par di mera paas ghar ke chaabi nahi hai jab tak massi nahi aati mein yaha ruk jaun”

“Yeh bhi koi puchne ke baat hai, yeh bhi toh tera he ghar hai”

“Hai nahi bhabhi, honewala hai” krish muttered quietly.

“Kya bhabi iss aafat ko sar par lena zaruri hain” Shiva interjected and Krish rolled his eyes trust shiva to know how to hide his feelings atleast he wouldn’t be on a murder spree anymore.

“Main toh sooch raha tha tujse finally chutkara mila, tu toh teen din mein wapis aa gayi par theek hain tujhe waha reh kar bhi konsa koi ladka milne wala tha, ab chipkali se kyu koi shaadi karega”

Raavi gave him a saccharine sweet smile “Tu mere tension mat le dhoond lungi tuj jaisa koi pischash apne liye”

“Isey se kar le na” Krish couldn’t help saying

“Kya”

“Arey nahi kuch nahi” kya krish zubaan par break laga he told himself.

“Raavi tujhe bhook lagi hogi, baith main breakfast lagati hun tere liye” Dhara said

“Bhabi isske liye itni mehnat karne ke kya zarurat hai?”

“Haan di aap rehne do, main iski plate se he kha lungi” she quickly grabbed shivas plate and ran away, shiva following close behind.
