So it is pretty clear from the show so far that the biggest sacrifices were made by Gaura and Shiva. Dev and Krish seem to have a pretty balance life despite the family having financial difficulties in the beginning. They are both continuing their studies and does not really help with the family store full-time like Shiva.

Coming to Shiva, he had to not only make sacrifices of his studies, but also make compromise with his life by marrying someone he did not want to. I am not sure if Shiva wanted to study or not, but from what I heard from here and seeing how he gets affected by the word ‘gawar’ we can infer that it is not something he did willingly. No wonder we all can relate to GauRa and Shiva. Their struggles are based off of many people reality. All struggling families have to make sacrifices for the greater good of the family. I already see Shivi being the shadow of GauRa.

As much as I love Shivi and GauRa,I would also like to have the same love for Dishita. Their journey has great potential. Rishita can understand the kindness of this family and implement those in herself. I will tolerate her insensitivity as long as there is growth in her character. I want her to sympathize with the family and break out of her bubble that only consists of Herself and Dev. Would love to see her do some goodness for the family. I will say that I felt bad for her when Suman did not give her ashirwaad. I really empathized with her. She had left her family for Dev, she might be all happy as it is her honeymoon phase, but I am sure she is also not happy with her own family not accepting it. I think I would love to see a little bit of that reflect on her character. Initially we saw she was very close to her sister and I wanted to see her having a convo with her sis. I see a bit of disconnect in that part. All the characters are very realistic in this show, but Rishita’s is somewhat different as it might just be to add more drama to the serial. I hope that they give her some growth and attention like Shivi.

Now onto Dev, I know I might get chappals thrown at me, but let’s give the dude some slack. I think he is a complete reflection of his father and a extreme toned down version of Gautam. He is non- confrontational and overall the good guy of the neighborhood. He does not show extreme reaction like Shiva, but he is not spineless as many people on Twitter seem to think. There were countless times he had stood up for GauRa and I feel she has also inherited a lot of Dhara’s traits. Even Gautam said that Dhara and Dev relationship are more like friends. I am waiting to see the showdown of Dev and Shiva and evaluate how his character is. For now, I don’t see him spineless yet. Again the CVs can work a little more on his character development.

PS please ignore all the grammar errors as I am too lazy to proof read this lol

My thoughts are also along the same lines. As long as there’s character growth for DevTa I’ll tolerate them.

Dev is a nice guy but I’d like him to realize when he should speak, when to apologize. Not sure why he hasn’t spoken to Shiva yet. Maybe he’s one of those who take their time but itna time bhi mat le. ShiVi are hurting and Dev doesn’t see or doesn’t want to. I’m not sure which.

Actually if u would have seen the episodes in which Dev confessed to the Pandya famiky that he loves Rishita and was about to tell the truth to Raavi when she called him Shiva snatched the phone and told him to be quite as it was the question of everyone's emotions.

I know that. Gaumbi told everyone to keep it quiet. Everything is in the open now. What’s stopping him now? For goodness sake Raavi attempted suicide. If nothing else Dev is Raavi’s childhood friend. He didn’t even check up on her. This is my problem, that’s why an apology is in order.

Plus long before the Shaadi being fixed Shiva had asked Dev to make sure he tells Raavi that they are just friends. Shiva had warned him.

Great thoughts, I literally agree with everything you have said. And no, despite how frustrated I am with Dev, I would never throw chappals at you. You all are my friends who, unfortunately, have to deal with my personality/rants. But here's what I can offer to the table:

Regarding GauRa, I'm not too sure what Gautam's age was when he took up the store, but I'm sure he had to make a ton of sacrifices to ensure his family is well-taken care of. He lost his carefree youth as a child after his father's death, and stepped up to be the "man" of the house in just a few short months/years. Meanwhile, Dhara put the family's happiness over her own. GauRa definitely could've started their family, but Dhara knew that if she had a child, these brothers might not achieve their dreams (especially since they were also in a financial crunch). And in terms of their marriage, despite being friends before, it kind of does stink to marry on those terms when you least expect it. Not all friends can become attracted to each other on a deeper level, so I am happy it worked out for GauRa!

Coming to Shiva, I know this is ITV and there are probably some gaps, but I am very, very interested in knowing about his background. As you have mentioned, "gawar" hits a sore spot for him. He hasn't been affected by anything as much as he has been affected by "gawar," making me think he's always valued education/studies ever since having the conversation with Dhara. I want to know if this show will follow the path of the original (him discontinuing his dreams of becoming a collector) or whether they will take a new spin on the tale especially since GauRa emphasized his education. I find it hard to believe they would let him discontinue his dreams as I would assume they would be even more self-sacrificing to allow Shiva to pursue his goals.

Plus, another area I am confused by is the reason everyone calls him "gawar." Don't you about you all, but my parents used to constantly talk about my grades. It always seems to be the first question asked at any gathering, "How are your kids doing at school?" Though I live in America, I figure India would be the same. I find it hard to believe that no one knew about Shiva's academic performance (especially if he was doing good and then dropped out to help GauRa). My thoughts are that he was initially doing good, but saw how much Gaumbi and Dhara had to sacrifice for the family and felt guilty that he couldn't help them out. So, he began to willingly slack off in his studies, telling no one, and making everyone assume he is not as educated or smart as he wouldn't have had the long-standing track record of good grades. Perhaps Gaumbi figures him out, and that's when Shiva confesses what he's done, and even if Gaumbi wanted him to go to higher studies, it was too late as Shiva's exam scores are not that good? I don't know, that's just a thought that crossed my mind.

Now when it comes to Rishita's character, I think we all agree that she's not the greatest of characters. She appears to be "obsessive" over her husband, and doesn't even like it if another woman speaks to him, even if that woman is his bhabi. To play devil's advocate, Rishita most likely grew up like a princess. More than anything, I think her father gave her all types of material possessions, while Dev gave her some hope of long-lasting romance and a happily ever after. As for how she could not know how much the Pandya family means to Dev, I think she was under the illusion that once they married, she would just automatically mean more to him as she is his biwi. Maybe even now, she is convinced she can change Dev, which is why she acts the way she does. It'll be hard for her to overnight hate her maiden family, but I think she'll slowly understand her place in the Pandya family. Right now, everyone is tense and is more worried about ShiVi, making her more annoyed (which I can kind of understand as she never lived with a larger family, the only competition for attention she would've ever had is with her sister, who she already loves. It's so much harder to love people you've barely known).

I think once she realizes Raavi doesn't care for Dev, it'll be the turning point in her character. The girl is in desperate need for companionship. Her insecurity with Dhara probably stems from how much Dev has hyped Dhara. She knows she'll never be as self-sacrificing, so she doesn't even want to hear it. I think Raavi will be the voice of reason for her. Raavi is kind and bubbly, but I wouldn't say she is as self-sacrificing as Dhara (not yet, at least), so I think she'll be a good middle ground. Once those two become friends, I think Rishita will be a lot more willing to partake in family activities. Rishita herself is an interesting character. Unlike the other members of the family, she knows how to fight for her dreams, and I think this family needs to learn that it's alright to be selfish sometimes, even if the other person is not happy about it.

Now coming to Dev. Most of my anger stems from his most recent actions especially regarding his own decisions. Even during the wedding I was like, "It'll be alright, he'll apologize to everyone," and we could go back to seeing the Dev we all know and love. But he just didn't. He's non-confrontational and a good guy, but that doesn't mean an apology would lead to a big fight. Shiva is definitely not someone who would beat him up if he apologized, so I wish he understood that his family is there to support him. Even his conversation with Dhara, he's best friends with her! As told by Gaumbi. Why couldn't he have told Dhara privately the second this was arranged? That everyone had it all wrong? Now, coming to the other side of his personality, I did like him more when he was confrontational with those goons. It shows that he really cares for his brothers and would even risk his own personal health for them, which I really do appreciate. And I also like when he stood up for Shiva after the kidnapping scene. Telling Raavi in all his years of knowing Shiva, Shiva would never leave anyone at danger's bay, even if it's his enemy.

But love to me is more than just willing to fight or stand up for your family/close ones when others insult/bully them. Love to me is doing that and recognizing when your family is in pain. Dev recognized that his decisions hurt GauRa, and he apologized for that, which I appreciate. But, he isn't really recognizing Shiva's pain, and that's where I find troubles being sympathetic to him. All other characters in the show have commented on Shiva (Dhara, Gaumbi, Suman, Krish, I think even Hardik when he came for tea). But as a brother, he thought a simple hug would change everything. I wish he realized having a heart-to-heart conversation, just to get a sense of what Shiva thought, was better.

You're right, Dev is not spineless. He's a little bit more of a worry-wort while Shiva is more confrontational. Most of the anger the audience has on him is probably related to the disconnect/disjointed scenes DevTa have had so far.

But I'll stop now since this has become too long 😆

I totally agree with u and what I think we all want everything to change overnight like Dev understanding what blunder he has created and Shiva also has a misunderstanding that Dev because of Dev everyone's lives are screwed up but he was enjoying his suhagraat whereas he doesn't know the whole truth and I can relate to the characters as they are like what someone can be in real life to take time to understand what blunder they have created in someone's life and coming to Shiva and Raavi bo doubt they are suffering a lot and mostly Raavi because I can understand what can someone go through when u realise that ur entire childhood u ended up loving a person so much and for that person u are just a mere friend and that person loves some other girl and Rishita also everytime telling Dev that she left her family for him isn't justified as it is adding to the guilt he already has for guilt of everything that has happened because of him and Rishita saying Mera Dev is like rubbing salt on Raavi's wounds which is not justified the way Dev confronted Rishita when she called Raavi bhoj was so apt for the situation but that if he would have done in front of the family would mean a lot for Shiva and Raavi. And coming to Shiva and Raavi, Raavi doesn't try to know other person's side of story she just jumps to conclusions like she did in Dev's case when she thought he loved him and in Shiva's case she thought he wanted to leave her she should start listening to others as well. very beautifully put and I agree with everything you have said!! The characters have so many layers to explore!! I hope they emote all those layers with a good storyline. This is truly a beautiful show and thank god I came across this. Each and Every character has something to put on the table and you can’t help but like them. Be it Anita, Mami, or Suman. I will admit that when I initially saw Suman and Dhara, I was disappointed thinking that it will be a typical sass bahu drama, but after the leap they have turned their relationship so beautiful. Fingers crossed that they will keep the authenticity of this show as more episodes air.

I think I am too obsessed with this show lol... but I can’t help it, I literally love all the characters in this show🥲

I agree... we tend to forget the timeline of the show. Their one day is like 2 weeks of episodes for us. So we need to keep in that mind also. It is literally the next day of their wedding and they got kidnapped. Dev and Shiva didn’t have enough time to actually have a one on one talk. Dev to me seems like a person who avoids arguments and try to burry things under the rug if it will keep things peaceful. I think since Shiva did not explicitly bring up the topic, he is trying to avoid it. But again, now we are on to the third day of their marriage. So let’s give it time and patience to see how everything unfolds. I wouldn’t want the CVs to rush such poignant moments.
