Hey guys, this is a really small one on ZPKB. I'm mainly writing it for Mrina, with whom I planned to write a post-marriage OS twice. Since not much came to my mind, I wrote this. Hopefully, it is a small insight into what's happening with Meenu and Nofil these days. Enjoy!
ZPKB OS: MOHABBAT MERI ZIMMEDARI HAI
“Hi Maimoona... Can I sit here?” a young lady joined in the first semester of MD Family Medicine, came to Meenu. She was a new admission to this college, having done her MBBS in a different institution, and thus took a few days to know people and make friends.
“Of course…” Meenu smiled and removed her bag to let her sit with her. The classes hadn’t begun yet, and thus everyone remained scattered. Meenu had to fill out another form for the scholarship program. Though Nofil had promised to sponsor her entire education, apart from the initial financial inputs, she didn’t need it as she qualified for scholarships every year because of her outstanding results.
“Hi. I’m Shiza.” She brought forward her hand to shake while her eyes went to the scholarship form while they were shaking hands. “Toh kya waakayi tumko 18 gold medals mile they MBBS mein?” She was awestruck.
“Haan...” Meenu chuckled. She liked the appreciation in the eyes of the world for her hard work and perseverance.
“ Mujhe na initially believe hi nahi hua ki kisi ek individual ko itne medals mil sakte hain. Phir dekha, tumhara naam toh MBBS ke gold medalists ki list mein bhi tha Accolades Room mein.” Shiza honestly spoke.
Meenu smiled and continued filling her name in the form- Maimoona Nofil. While Shiza looked on and spoke- “Nofil Uncle toh kitna proud feel karte honge na tumhari achievement se.”
A giggle burst out of Meenu, as she said- “Itne bhi boodhe nahi huye hain wo ki unko uncle kaha jaaye.”
“Hain? Arre wow. Unki kam umar mein shaadi huyi thi?” Shiza was intrigued.
“Itni bhi kam umar mein shaadi nahi huyi thi. Meri age ke toh they wo jab shaadi huyi thi. MBBS complete karke 2 saal toh ho gaye they.” Meenu was thinking.
“Tabhi toh tum itna achha karti ho padhai mein... Tumhare abba bhi doctor hain. Sirf MBBS kiya tha unhone, ya specialisation bhi?” Shiza had an eureka moment.
And finally, Meenu understood and burst out guffawing. Looking at the newcomer’s confused expression did she clarified among her chortle- “Nofil mere abba nahi, mere husband hain...”
“Tum married bhi ho? Kaise padhai kar leti thi tum ghar-baar ke saath?” Shiza was wide-eyed.
“Haan... Meri shaadi MBBS start karne se pehle hi ho gayi thi. But maine ghar-baar sahi maino mein sambhaala hi nahi. Nofil ke amma abba are really sweet. They didn’t push me into household stuff more than I wanted to or could do. 24 hours toh main bhi nahi padhti thi, toh thoda bohot hi karti thi. They gave me and Nofil equal opportunities to study and do well in life. Shuru ke saal jab main MBBS kar rahi thi toh Nofil ne MD medicine aur Internal Medicine mein Super specialization kar liya. He now practices as well visits the village where we’ve set up our Clinic in Qaisar Kalan. He has his team of doctors and paramedics there who visit daily at turns.” Meenu shared her nostalgia.
“Aur tumhare bachhe bhi hain?” Shiza asked.
“Nahi. Main apni padhai puri hone tak bachhe nahi chahti thi. Nofil respects that. Insha’ Allah after MD.” Meenu smiled sheepishly answering as she ticked the box of ‘Mrs.’ in front of her name, signing off the form.

It was Sunday, and Meenu had college off. Nofil had returned from his visit to the village, and finding his sweet spot on the bed, his head lay on her lap. His eyes were closed, and lips held a relaxed smile. Her fingers were softly combing in his luscious hair. She had always loved his voluminous hair that attracted her right from the time her eyes had started looking at him with adoration. Softly messaging his scalp, she kept looking at his happy face. She bent down and kissed his forehead in reverence. It took so little to love this man. He moved mountains and earth to keep her happy, educated and safe, and took all her love in return in these small gestures.
He opened his eyes at the feel of her lips on his forehead. Reaching his hand to her head, his fingers buried in her long hair, he gently pulled her face to his lips and gave the kiss full of conjugal love. Her smile widened as they looked at each after this small gesture of love.
“Kaisi rahi tumhari Qaisar Kalan ki visit?” she asked, her fingers still playing with his hair.
“Seriously Meenu? Meri aankhon mein dekho, tumhein lagta hai ki main ab Qisar Kalan discuss karna chahta hoon?” Nofil looked mildly irritated.
Her giggles next made Nofil turn them into a squeal, as she found herself caged in the most protective arms of her husband and the bed below her. She closed her eyes in surrender and let him have the lead.
Yes, she gets exhausted with balancing her excellent education and a successful married life. But when is she complaining? She was fulfilling her promise of- “Mohabbat meri zimmedari hai.” And it felt blissful!
