In ptv either there are actors who workaholic and are always busy or there are actors who are super lazy and hardly do one show per year..its super weird

Honestly, chahte toh hum bhi hain ki woh aur bhi bahut kuch kare…but we know the industry dynamics when it comes to Danish. So we’ve made peace with it and enjoy everything he does.

The main thing is Danish is very khuddar. He will never asskiss anyone, do makhanbaazi for work, go around networking or try to become a part of any camp. The industry and critics have never favoured him. Ashley and I have had this discussion so many times after seeing posts and videos where they have literally put him down like anything.

One small example I can give you is how everyone bashed Shamsher (KTK). It was almost like ragging. Fast-forward to a few months after KTK ends, another show starts airing. Here, the hero resorts to physical assault of even the heroine and none of them critics bat an eye like they did when they went furious with KTK. They’ve never been fair towards him. There is a glaring double standard which now both Ashley and I laugh and roll our eyes at.

That’s why Danish does his own thing and his focus is to create a hit project from whatever comes his way. He is always the main selling point of his shows which is not easy. Actually, he is the only one from his age group holding the position he is holding.

His contemporaries technically would be those who debuted in the early 2000s…so Fawad, Humayun, Fahad…but they are in a different league only. Fawad has a certain level of stardom after his Bollywood stint so he can afford to wait around for the best of the best. Humayun and Fahad produce their own stuff and hire the best team to create a hit project like they would want. These guys literally get scripts written for them.

Others in his age group would be those coming from the music industry like Ali Zafar, Atif and even Farhan. The guys with a rockstar background enjoy a different status. Next comes Hamza Ali Abbasi, but iska samajh mein nahi aaya ki what is it about him that gets him only the creme de la creme scripts. Maybe since he is close to Humayun and mostly works with them but still…strange

The rest from that age group like Zahid, Sami, Ahsan, Junaid, Affan, Imran, Emmad, Mikaal, Mohib and so on…what have they done in the 'recent' few years? Nothing substantial right? Not even in terms of numbers.There's barely been any hype that can be credited to them alone for the project/character/performance. Neither are they getting anything worthy to do nor is any of what they are doing making them stand out.

So this is where Danish becomes the only one relevant from the bunch of actors whom he should be compared to but his contemporaries are now mainly those who debuted around the time Danish completed a decade within the industry.

Another thing…if you compare Danish’s hits to his contemporaries’ (Farhan, Feroze, Wahaj etc), you’ll notice that his projects don't have big/popular actresses, writers, directors; unlike how it is for the others. Lol most of his co-stars have become household names after working with him. Which is why we’re very excited for Jan Nisar with Hiba.

Occasionally he does get a big project, like Chand Tara had such a celebrated writer-director duo and a big star like Ayeza on board. Unfortunately none of them gave their best. Only Danish carried the show till the end and did justice to a green flag character which everyone had been expecting from him for the longest time.

Basically all of this is why Danish is doing what he is doing. He knows how little scope there is for actors of his age bracket, and what his strengths are etc. He is playing according to that. Rest…he’s actually attempted every type of role, every genre there is before PTv gained traction on social media. But now the industry is changing, the audience has a shorter attention span and don’t have the patience to see him do all that. They also only want to see him in these grey, larger-than-life kinda roles.

All this being said, if he gets bigger projects with better teams it would make us very excited. But we're not dependent on those because both of us feel self-respect is more important than better projects. I sometimes feel our favs behaviour has rubbed off on the fandom and we too like them, now just take things as it comes.
