You have the same Sara/Sameen third wheel angle, Hala/Khirad both have no backup career/work options, then the same married-under-unfavorable circumstances, girl who thinks less of herself when compared to her husband and then gains her confidence with his help, husband who think naivety and "masoomiyat" is the best feature, asher's dad/hamza's daadi that authoritative figure who shield them from plotting saas, saas who doesn't care for the third wheel (sara/sameen) and uses them just as a pawn.
Although Humsafar was a better drama and the lead characters were more stronger and defined, Meray Humsafar scores better in how the side characters and their backstories are conveyed. Like we know why shahjahan is the way she is, how daadi is no doodh-ki-dhuli, why Sameen feels betrayed, why Sameen's parents do not have much authority over the circumstances.
But Meray Humsafar fails terribly in the characterization of Hamza and Hala. Hamza had no good reason to marry hala, if it was his genius way to save Hala from that situation. And uf he married her for love, itne saal yeh pyaar ka mara gaya tha when Hala was being tortured. Also, how can you not confront your daadi, father and mother when they mistreat others. Okay.. If not confront how can you not acknowledge their problematic behaviour and just pretend as if it never happened.
Hala toh bas poocho mat. I agree she has no self esteem, is always scared but how does she not have an escape plan no matter how lame. Also, how does someone remain this naive and not resort to doing things sneakily like taking food when no one is watching etc. I understand she is scared to act, but at least she will have the thoughts rt.. And not be Ms.Holy Mary. And why on earth does she think her dad will take her to london when he has never even come to meet her after 'disposing' her off. Hiw dumb are you gurl!
