From Saira's interview this show seems to have been a complete clash of things going against each other between writers and channel/production.
Maryam was written as a complete British girl who only spoke English and Hala as well was supposed to speak a clear deep British English.
Hamza had been written as greyer with more flaws, like ego issues and a will to always challenge Raees (maybe coming down from the fact that he always saw Raees misstreat SJ, which could also justify his bias towards SJ). Many of the actions he took were supposed to be shown as his own spoiled brat wills rather than softness for Hala as it's been shown.
Hala on the other side was supposed to be much less mentally affected than she has been portrayed. We have seen eating disorder, panic attacks, traits of abandonnement fear and what not in the show, which the writer never apparently intended and hence they're not addressed which leaves half the audience perceiving her as dumb and annoying, and half begging for her to get therapy.
The central focus of the writer seemed to be parenting issues and morals. Hala and her dad's and then SJ, the love story was never the central focus of her script as the channel made it be.
Add to that Hania, Farhan and Qassim's own modifications and inputs, like cutting out the walima slap, romanticising some scenes like the hair scene (which was intended as problematic Hamza, not romance), Hania's conception of Hala with the accent on trauma for everything from body language to entire scenes, and the show just doesn’t make any logical continuity sense, despite how mindblowing the performances have been.
Overall such an injustice to their performances and year long shooting work.
