I saw the interview and while i am no one to judge her decisions given i dont know the exact circumstances , i think leaving yr husband bec your mom was ill and u wanted to be there for her kind of sounds like a lame get away excuse unless ofcourse the husband was stopping her from being there for her mother. She is definitely very bold and thats impressive but u cant deny that she did come across as majorly selfish and as some one who held very less regard for love or marriage.

Reminds me of that sher:

'Lagta hai ke raaton ka jaaga tha musavir

tasveer ki aankhon se thakan jhaank rahi hai'

Unless there's something amiss that she chooses not to disclose for public consumption, strictly going by her exegesis ceteris paribus to it, looks she's shirking the responsibility of marriage, giving time to her Mother is fine, there will be an imbalance that's natural and assuming he's understanding of it, plus she has no children either. Marriage is serious business assuming you're in it because you want to be. It just doesn't add up at all. But like I said we don't know their personal lives, so can't deduce much out of it. as long as she delivers the goods as an actor.

My mom showed this interview to me (one with Samina Peerzada), and we had a lengthy discussion about upbringing, responsibilities, balance between tradition and liberty and so on.. and ofcourse the direction went into a harsh study of our own family dynamics and our lives :p

I think the reasons for her divorce are known, or maybe even unknown to her. Relationships are too complex and it's obviously very difficult to talk about such personal relationships, or maybe it was a simple decision by her - as simply as she explained on the show. .who can say.. 😃either way, I find it admirable how she is at peace with herself (seems to be) and went with her heart, whether she was in the right or wrong.

It's nice that she has her own mind, whether it was a sensible decision or not, is known only to her... I like that she is herself, and was honest in a way by asking for a separation. It's better to admit and walk out than tie yourself down when you have no heart in it whatever the reason may be... it hurts the other party but in a way you are cheating each other if you want to remain in the marriage just because you have to, and not want to. She would be depriving herself her own desire of whatever she thinks is the way of life she wants to lead, and also be depriving the husband the love or companionship he deserves...

Some people are different, and I somehow find her admirable.. although, it's a dangerous kind of liberty that I find very scary :p

The part where she spoke about her mother's illness and death was sad.. I wish she spoke more about her mother, she seems like she was wonderful human. :)

There have been many celebs that have been there in this chat show, but I don't think anyone has been discussed as much as Sanam here, coz her chat wasn't just a talk about herself, but an insight into life and how she perceives it.

It was philosophical, deep and introspective and that's y so engaging.

Beautiful couplet. What does it mean?
Coming to Sanam, I think she might have been grieving while she made that decision. I know when I lost someone I love dearly, I did not care about anyone else. I just wanted to grieve alone as a sort of tribute to my dear departed. Had I been with a partner who had less than the patience of the gods, he would have left, or I would've. Grief is a slow, painful, inward journey for some of us, and it requires solitude. While it may be justified to call Sanam's decision selfish, I think it could be considered wise too as she left before any kids were involved. And Sanam may have wanted her old life back, not just because of the fame and fortune, but because she felt independent, and had a purpose in life. The creative arts are like that: if one is deeply involved in them, then they are your sustenance. And no way could she have managed that in Dubai (or anywhere other than her country).
