Do Pak Dramas finish the whole shoot and only then get aired or is the shooting in progress at the time of it's airing?

Also do the dramas decide on a fixed number of episodes before they get aired or episodes get extended due to popularity?

And are there no daily soaps whatsoever ?

Yaar first the whole drama is shooted and then it is aired after two months approximately...
Most of the dramas have fixed episodes..it was humsafar whose episodes were extended although it was supposed to be of only 19 epis...
Yeah there are daily soaps too,,,airing on from mon-thursday usually...

They're fixed episodes from the beginning. The actors shoot beforehand and sometimes they extend the show due to the ratings/popular demand.
The only show that comes to mind where the actors were actually asked to come back on sets to continue shooting because they wanted to extend the show due to ratings was Shukk which aired recently. They extended the show for 10 more episodes and Adeel, Sanam Saeed and Ayesha Khan actually started shooting again, while the show was airing, for that extension.

Humsafar was not a similar case. They stretched the show out with whatever the actors had already shot and then asked Mahira and Fawad to shoot another rain scene for the end. Shukk actually had the actors back on set due to its ratings. Shukk ended up having 10 more episodes which they shot for despite the show still being on air.

There are daily soaps..they air daily or four to five times a week, and last less than 30 mins. However, they aren't as popular as serials.

Yes, the whole shoot is finished before they bring the dramas on-air.

Yes, the number of episode is also decided beforehand.During the post production phase I guess. Most dramas now have 22-25 episodes.
The only exceptions that I can think of are Shukk, they ruined such a good show by doing extra episodes😡, and Payare Afzal. But back in the good old days they used to have 13-15 episodes max.

You should watch some of those.Almost every play used to amazing. Each story was unique, fresh and captivating.Btw my Mom says this and after watching some of them, I tend to agree with her. Those are just a class above everything.

There are daily soaps as well, but I don't bother watching them. They are bad in general and stretch for quite a period. Most people here get annoyed with dramas that have 22 episodes and call them dragging and what not.So, soaps ka to koi chance hi nahi hai.😆

Ah thnx for the explanation nd actually one of my reasons for asking dis was coz of Shukk. I recently watched it nd read comments dat it got extended nd I had assumed dat d dramas were completely shot before getting aired.

Yeah usually they are shot in advance and then they go on air...Shukk is an exception. They extended the show by 10 episodes. While the show was airing, the actors were back on set to shoot for those episodes. If you noticed, Adeel looked buffer towards the end all of a sudden as opposed to the first half. Sanam's makeup also changed evidently towards the end.

Ah yes I hv watched the old ones like Tanhaiyaan nd Dhoop Kinare nd a few more and yes dey r awesome.

I in fact recently watched Shukk nd really liked d show nd didn't find it dragging, though of course der were loopholes, but den dey couldn't hv progressed d story any otehr way, dat's what I feel. Also I guess watching d epis together makes a difference against watching dem once a week over months and hence ppl get disappointed by extensions and the story too. Also I knew what to expect as I had read the reviews beforehand nd knew wht blunders wre going to happen.😆

Sometimes they extend a show by having whatever bits they didn't plan to show initially, added into the plot all of a sudden. They try dragging some shows like that for ratings and money..but you hardly hear that that actors are asked to come back on sets to shoot more episodes altogether as the show's airing...from what I know, Shukk is the only one that had that happening.
