Recently our favourite channel HUM TV has been giving us one after the other CRAP show. Our drama industry with gems like Dastaan, Humsafar, ZGH, Maat, Daam, Khuda Zameen Se Gaya Nehi, Durre Shahwar,... is not wat it used to be.. The stories are getting old and losing their charm, the subjects are repetitive (2nd wife, talaaq, marital issues,...), the direction and script are weak and so on. A few articles have already been written about this subject (Sick minds think alike, Ghum ka saathi Hum,..).
However in this article I will talk about a possible solution. Because there are still some quality series airing we just need to switch the channel!
FRIDAY: After a long week we get some well-deserved rest. And we really need a good drama to just relax and enjoy. But when we turn on the TV to watch HUM TV we see MAUSAM! The show is receiving much more viewership than it actually deserves. In my opinion Mausam has a very weak script and direction. Also actors who are extremely talented and are showing their talent in other shows are wasting their time in such a drama.. Just take the example of Hareem Farooq, a fresh young new face who is just wasting her time by playing Saman a character with zero personality! This girl is extremely talented and we can see it if we just switch to Urdu 1 on Friday!! There you will see a show that's totally worth your time. A beautiful script by Farhat Ishtiaq (writer of Humsafar, Mataa E Jaan hai tu, Rehaai), well directed and beautiful acting by Adnan Sidiqui, Sanam Jung and yes.. Hareem Farooq. Mere Humdum Mere Dost is a must see and it will totally make your day!
Another epic fail by HUM TV: Aahista Aahista. It was supposed to be a mega project, and they went all the way to America to shoot it but the weak script totally ruined it. So HUM TV has destroyed another important day: SUNDAY. A new week is about to start and we want to enjoy the last moments but by watching AA we really can't relax we can only get annoyed by the stupid characters: Zawaar ji who is total flop man with no personality, Sophie an Indian christian girl who keeps on screaming and taunting and then there is Haya a girl who lost her style somewhere in the plane while traveling from Pakistan to Amreeeka! But no worries! A-plus has a masterpiece for us! Mawra (Haya) should definitely learn from her sister whose face you will see on A-plus in this beautiful show with high level direction & acting. Sadly this show is about to end but it is totally one of the best dramas airing!
Another awful HUM TV drama is Janam Jali. I have no words to describe how horrific this drama is. I only started to watch it because it was replacing Ru Baru, a show that I followed. But it's seriously a torture! For Thursdays I would recommend to switch to A-plus again where Bee Gul's Pehchan is airing. I'm not regularly following it but by reading Fatima Awan's reviews I think this show it worth watching.
So that's it I just wanted to say we still have some quality dramas airing we just need to find the courage to look away from HUM TV (and the other 2 big channels).
