hello, anyone still there?
This is sort of off-topic... but a question that's been plaguing my mind:
Why do you think the Pakistani Film Industry is hardly visible- compared to Bollywood for example?I personally know of only about two to three Pakistani movies I've heard of/seen (Khuda Ke Liye, Bol, and this other old movie I watched over a decade ago- and that's about it).I mean if we look at the drama serials we have, there are so many talented actors and directors; why not transfer them to the film industry? For example, Dastaan could have been one helluva good movie.Maybe there are other good Pakistani movies and I'm not aware of them... but based on what I know, Pakistani film industry is almost nonexistent, while the Television industry is more popular.

It's because of the money aspect & then the quality. No one's willing to invest in making such a huge movie. I have heard many Pakistani television actors & actresses say that if they're offered something good in terms of films..then they will definitely give it a shot. See, if you have this low budgeted film..then everything is of poor quality including the script..because you don't have a good writer to write your script..and considering how good our television writers are..they're probably going to ask for a decent amount if they are to write for a film. No one's willing to invest a whole lot and then there's close to zero help from the government too. I've heard many artists talking about how other developed film making countries do have their governments help them build their industries..whereas in Pakistan that's too much to ask for. lol.. I feel there's just this whole process in building a film industry which we are lacking..and things just never flow. There's too much at stake with a film..and I feel no one's willing to do that..Shoaib Mansoor the guy who made Bol & Khuda Ke Liye makes a film every 4 yrs..but even with him there's Geo tv that invests a lot..that's not the case with other films..there just low budget, poor quality films..mostly for tharki guys. 😆Not to mention the profit aspect to films..I don't think producers in Pakistan are confident about that..that's not how dramas work..there's no profits involved. Bol aired in the USA..and let me tell you I watched Bol with my mom & sister in the theater, here in Manhattan..at AMC..and it was us and another couple..that's it. 😆 I feel the international audience for Pakistani films just isn't there yet.Though if actors like Fawad Khan, Adeel Hussain, Fahad Mustafa, Imran Abbas etc..this entire young lot of actors get films..I do have a strong feeling they will pull masses..and then obviously the likes of females such as Sanam Baloch, Saba Qamar etc...but Humayun Saeed is in the process of making a film on Shahid Afridi the cricketer though lol
