Is HUM TV Making a Mistake Again?

I have no qualms over accepting that HUM TV is one of my favourite channels. It has always produced high quality content with the ability to stand tall among competition. However, for a while now, the channel hasn't been able to retain quality and is jumping the bandwagon.

Barring Zindagi Gulzar Hai, which has just started picking up, there is nothing really worth writing home about on the channel, except the amazing Bari Aapa, which unfortunately is a flop.

Now to this, we all know that Bari Aapa flopped mainly because it wasn't promoted and faced stiff competition from ARY (Tanhaiyan) and GEO (Cinderella).

The serial is about to end in two weeks with a new serial (I don't think it is Dil e Muzter) taking its place. Now that HUM had a chance to get viewers away from ARY (Tanhaiyan has ended) by starting its new show last Saturday, it continued with Bari Aapa, when there is no hope of getting new viewers simply because it is ending.

And ARY's show on Saturday, Kaash Aisa Ho, is already very strong as far as hype is considered. Now once again when HUM TV goes with its new serial on Saturday it will be facing stiff competition from ARY.

Nonetheless, we hope that the channel will not make the same mistake of starting its serial before Cinderella ends. Poor planning is the only reason that Bari Aapa failed.

In my meeting with the channel, I even suggested that they should consider moving Bari Aapa to another slot because the drama has potential but is not able to do so due to competition. They could've easily put it on Thursdays, where there is Sitamgar (doing 2 TRP) without any competition. Imagine where Bari Aapa would've been had it aired on Thursdays!!!

The last drama I watched on Hum was Shehr-e-Zaat.

I like Hum too because of its descent shows but now adays is channel per 'kuch nahi aa araha'!

I have stopped foillowing Bari Aapa because it is not going anywhere. But I heard it was ending abruptly… ?

what about na kaho tum mere nahi,ek tamannah lahasil si and kahi ankahi.are they doing well on hum tv or they also failed like bari apa because these 3 shows are not facing any competition on their particular days

  This is what I have been tryign to say. Dramas like Kahi Ankahi are good but not as good as Bari Aapa (in my opinion). They are all getting 2-3 TRP without competition, mainly because they do not deserve more (again, IMO).
  If they had put say Kahi an Kahi on Sat and Bari Aapa on Tuesday then may be the case would've been different. I think Bari Aapa would've easily got around 5 with Kahi an Kahi still getting 2 on Saturday due to competition.

Special note:

Dear admin, I am not a professional. I am just a television viewer. However I have great strategies in my mind. I dont know whether you'll like it or not. But still, Hum is in my heart – I dont know why. I always want it to top charts, and be consistently in numero uno position. So here is what I think channel should do:

Kahi Un Kahi has a great story plus glamour. They should move it to sundays, where a weird show, MJBM airs.

Kaash aesa ho though has created hype will not stand stiff as time will pass by. They should put Zindagi Gulzar Hai on Saturdays.

Hum is doing worst as far as soaps are concerned. Even new soap that has to be started soon, Kaash mera bhi ghar hota has nothing worth talking about. Another serial/soap that is going to be aired soon is main hari piya – buaa! How girly plus kinda bekar.

They also need now to produce good serials. producing Umera Ahmed's dramas is a good choice, since the writer has huge fanbase ( I am her fan too). Umera Ahmed's Wapsi is a nice choice.

  HUM TV's soaps actually gather respectful ratings, surprisingly. As for changing ZGH's slot, that will be a very bad move, sorry. ZGH is already good on Fridays that belong to HUM. Moving it will totally disrupt everything.
  
  Kahi an Kahi isn't a hit. Actually, the serial doesn't look like a hit material. It lacks the X-Factor, IMO.
  
  As for Sunday's show, the channel has it only to curb YZH on GEO and the trick seems to be working. YZH has fallen with HUM's version getting 2 TRP now.

    So everyone has accepted that QSKB is the queen on Sundays. Good! Any info how many more episodes of bewah have been ordered by ARY? It is their biggest ratings draw given the fact that is has been a year since it started airing.
    
    Also, isn't MJBM about to end?

      Not really! There hasn't really been one big show on Sundays since Mera Saaen (1) ended. The ratings have been totally divided since then. Quddusi averages a 4 with Fatmagul and often YZH reaching 3-3.5

        Sorry but I dont agree. I guess 4 is considered a very good rating these days and QSKB was achieving that on Fridays when SZ was airing on Hum and still doing that when it has been moved to Sundays.
        
        And you said earlier that Hum's MJBM came on top of YZH with an avg rating of 2. Now you are saying that YZH is reaching 3+. its a confusing statement.

dramas like na kaho tum mere nahi,kahi ankahi and sitamgar are hit or flop or average.i also like bari apa but sad to see that it is a flop and what can i say about ek tamannah lahasil si.i liked it in the beginning but now it has become worst.only zindagi gulzar hai is the best.

  Na Kaho… is a hit. HUM hardly has flops. Basically, the hit and flop depends on a lot of things including expectations and cost. HUM was a big production where as dramas like Na Kaho… don't have the same look. Agreed?
  
  Sitamgar can be called average because more as expected out of it whereas Kahi an Kahi, IMO, is getting what it deserved.

I totally agree. I do not think they plan anything when I saw mere dark ko zaban milay on Saturdays. This is when HUM lost the viewers that used to watch for Humsafar.

  Exactly! MDKJM totally lost viewers. HUM thought they would be able to maintain the same viewership due to the romantic angle that Mata e Jaan continued, but failed. Miserable!
