Writer's Note: This is really what happened with me that day!!!…

It's a bright sunny day… Nauman (my husband) wakes me up as he leaves the bed… I say 'hanh… mmmm… getting up in a minute' 🥱… he goes to get ready while I go back to sleep… He comes back again and says that it's past 7:00 am and I should probably get up… Listening to that, I jump out of bed and ask him… 'Why didn't you wake me up earlier? 😲 … I am about to step in the shower when the phone rings… Nauman informs me that it is his mother and that she wants to talk to me… I greet her and say Eid Mubarak… She tells me that they are coming over to our place and then we can all go together to the masjid… I'm like hanh 🥱? Ok, I ask her when will they be here by. She says that they are leaving and should be here in 10 minutes 😲… After that she hangs up… Listening to this, I jumped and threw the phone on the bed which by the way would have fallen on the ground, if nauman wouldn't have grabbed it first… That was an awesome catch I must say 👍🏼… I ran and took a shower as fast as I could; in fact I broke my own record of getting ready that day 😎…

When I was fixing my hair, I heard the door bell… My in-laws were here in just under 10 minutes… I went downstairs, met everybody… I was putting my sandals on when my mom-in-law asked me if this was how I was planning on going to the masjid… I did not understand what she meant 😕… I mean I wore my eid dress and was ready to go… She asked me where my jewelry was… I asked her if it was necessary for me to wear some 😳… (That's one thing I'm not very fond of)… She said it would be nice if I did (she is so sweet)… Now you know there was no chance for me to say anything, so I went upstairs to wear some jewelry… I took out my silver set and wore that 😊…

Anyways, we went to the masjid… The masjid was too crowded… There was hardly any place to walk… I almost slipped a couple times because I was wearing high heels… After the namaz, I met with all the aunties… Said eid mubarak to everybody and the aunties as usual started to embarrass me by saying oh my God, you look so beautiful or you look amazing, ah, oh, ee, aohe, blah, blah, blah… you know how it goes… If you go somewhere as somebody's bahu, this is what happens 😳… hehehehe… it is fun though 😃… I came outside and searched for my sandals… Took five minutes to find them… There I met my family… I greeted everyone and got eidee from my parents and my brother… Then, we decided to get something to eat from the stall outside the masjid… There was this uncle I know from the muslim community center who was standing there… I asked him if I could get three hamburgers… he looked at me angrily and goes 'yeh hamburgers nahi, halal burgers hein' 😡… I was like sorry uncle I didn't mean it that way but he got upset and handed me three jala hoa burgers 🤔… Then, I didn't have the courage to ask for samosas and left quietly… Nauman later went and got samosas and mithai from there…lol

Then, we headed home… My mom-in-law asked me what I had made for eid… I told her that I made sheer, chaana chat, Shami kabob, and Dahi Barey… We went home and ate all that… (yea, I know we ate a lot that day 😃) They left and then I watched some TV with Nauman… We talked and then it was time for me to leave for school… I left for school and Nauman left for work…

I went to my lab to work on this project I was assigned a few days back… All I had to do that day was to move my yeast culture from room temperature to a slightly lower temperature… I did that and then worked on a few problems... I was so happy 😃 that I was done early that day and was about to leave when I heard a huge cry that there were somebody's E.Coli samples missing from the lab 😲… Spent another two hours looking for that before finding it right there in the lab…aghhhh… 😡 Anyways, left for home…

In the evening, I got ready again and this time took special care of dressing up 😳… Since Eid was expected on Friday but actually took place a day in advance, we had the chand raat function on eid day… My father-in-law had organized the function and so we had to go there… Nauman and I headed towards the venue only to get stuck in really horrible traffic… After almost an hour, we got there… There were so many people there… I got to meet all my relatives there… It was a lot of fun 😛… They had awesome food there, and we had a great time… I gave eidee to my sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and gifts to the other family members… In return, I got a lot of eidee and gifts as well … There were a lot of mehndi stalls there and so I went with my cousins to get mehndi… I just got it on my left hand because I had work to do later that night… After the musical show was over at the chand raat, we came back home around 1:00 am… I worked on my paper for the next day before going to bed… Overall, it was a very hectic day but Nauman and I had an amazing time with our family and friends…
