Biased and disappointing show! - 01/26
Only last week, I said so many good things to say about this show. And watching this show again today, I really have to say I'm very disappointed with the judges, esp Malvika đĄ. The show today proved that Malvika has either gone cuckoo or is giving into pressure from people who pull strings.
First performance was by Anuradha from Madurai.
I remember this North Indian skinny girl from Madurai, who speaks tamil like a pakka Madurai ponnu. From the beginning to end, her performance was just awesome. She danced for the song "Pottu Thakku" . Summa dance pinni pedal eduthutta indha ponnu. She had so much energy, so many distinct moves (with almost no repetition of dance steps) and Wow.. such great expressions. I'm yet to see any one in the solo round to perform with so much energy and vigor.
So, it was quite confusing when Malvika said to her at the end of her performance that she lacked energy in her dance đ . I mean it was the total opposite. If you guys already watched it, or if you're gonna watch next week, then you would know!
Even Chinna Master thought she danced well but then again, he said Malvika is the Judge and like she said you had some energy problem. What cr*p! Right then, I knew that when such untrue things are being said, then it's almost sure and without even having to see the next solo performer, we can guess that the other performer is going to be the winner. And my guesswork didn't go wrong!
The other solo performer was Anita Sandok from Madras. When I saw her performance a few weeks ago, I thought she looked familiar. And in the "reality" bit where they showed the contestant's family and friends, every thing started to make sense. Her performance was average even in the Prelim round when compared to the person she was competing against and I was surprised that she was chosen. But today was just too much!
Well anyway, even though they didn't show which TV Celebrity Anita is related to, I figured it out. This girl is Comedy Time Archana's sister. They even showed Archana's baby Zara and how cute! But, that's besides the point. They carefully avoided revealing that Archana is the sister, may be b'cos people will start saying that's why Anita was selected, but Gosh.. that IS SO TRUE! I'm still mad at the fact, that the winner was not chosen based on dance performance, but on some kind of favoritism/Celebrity pressure.
Anita danced for the Vijay, Trisha number "Dora Dummunnu melathai kotturadhum" song from Aadhi. While her dance and costume were good, it definitely was not winning material against the agile Anuradha. Malvika who has never gone to the stage to appreciate dancers when delivering her comments, went right out to her and hugged her after some silly drama. I don't want to bother explaining the drama here.. You could see that it was a setup b'cos even when Malvika was pretending like she was scolding Anita, Anita was giggling through out. It was just too much and got on my nerves! You guys might think why do I keep going on and on, but you'll find out when you watch grrrrr...
I mean, it's not really that much fun to watch a show when there's no credibility when it comes to judging winners! I wouldn't be surprised if Anita even becomes solo round finalist/winner with her average dancing skills that we have seen so far.
On to the Team round:
R unit from Madras danced for the medley song from Sivakasi and Saroja samaan nikkalo from Chennai-28. Their performance was quite good. Even though the Judges didn't point out, I noticed that some steps between the lead two went out of sync at times. But that was some energetic dancing with a lot of good moves. You gotta give it to them for their style too!
The other team was the wild card winner Sow guys from Madurai. These guys took folk very seriously and performed for a very Southern folky number (didn't sound like a movie song to me) complete with Karagattam, poikkal Kudhirai, boom boom maadu costume etc., Even though their performance was good, it wasn't what the Judges expected to see (I'm sure a Kannadiga like Malvika wouldn't even have known what on earth were the things that I mentioned above, as these are very local to Southern TN). When they were performing, Malvika looked totally confused. Anyway, these guys didn't understand and fulfil the expectations of this show. They lost to R unit.
When Malvika walked with her "heart" she gave it to Anuradha. Anuradha was quite upset, you could tell. So, when Malvika went back to her seat and started saying "Anuradha you are now eligible to go to WildCard".. Anuradha stopped her and said she doesn't want to go any further and doesn't want to come back. She must've realized that it wasn't worth it! When it isn't a fair game, what's the point in putting all your efforts in competing?
Malvika was upset and said to her something like "You could leave right now". I think that was rude. Anyway, the girl spoke her mind.
Anuradha.. What a girl! She was so brave and so confident! I mean my heart goes out to her and BRAVO! for being so bold. I really hope that she would read this and know that there's at least one viewer who thinks that this wasn't a fair game and that she should've been the winner for the solo round today! đ¤
