Lady boys are men who have had sex exchange. 😆

Enjoy your time with your little Rani. Btw, what is her name?

Caryn, my little Rani has been named Margot Shyamala, after her two great grandmothers, but I have been calling her kutty Rani, because the real names are too big for a little bundle like her! She really and truly becomes like a little bundle when she is picked up and rested on one's shoulder for burping, and boy, you should hear her burps!

@migan, holding my little Rani reminded me of the days when my own sons were that little, and I would rock them to sleep in my arms. I cannot tell you how good it felt to hold her and rock her to sleep, and feel that little warm body relax in your arms. The joys of grandparenthood!

On another note (no pun intended here), @eclat, are the songs "KaaNaa inbam kanindha thaeno ..." and "Nain so nain naahi milaao..." based on the same raga? I was humming the first song, and found myself straying into the second, so just wondered, and since I am a gnana sooniyam on the subject of raagas, I thought I would ask someone who knows!

@Eljay - kaaNaa inbam is set to the raagam Bhageshri and nain so nain in the raag malkunji. Technically Malkunji is a mixture of the raagams ragheshwari and bhageshri. That was why you must have trailed from one to the other... Both songs are absolutely bliss to listen to... did you sing them to kutty raani?

Thanks, eclat! No wonder they sound so similar, since Malgunji is a mix of Bageshri and Rageshwari, and yet Nain so nain naahi milaao ... is a little different. So I do have a teeny tiny ear for music, after all!

No, I did not sing these two songs to kutty Rani, but I heard the song KaaNaa inbam ... on Hariyudan Naan on Friday night, and from then on, it kept haunting me, so I went back and listened to the original on one of the sites, and hummed it all of yesterday and suddenly I was humming Nain so nain ..., so I commented on the similarity to hubby. It must be ages since I listened to either one on the radio prior to yesterday.

I did sing the following songs: Athai madi methaiyadi ..., muthaana muthalavo ..., and some Hindi lullabies, Nanhi kali sone chali ..., Tim tim karte taare ..., So ja rajakumari ..., Main gaaoon tum so jaao ..., but I think I scared her more than lulled her to sleep! Rocking her back and forth while talking softly seemed to help better! It probably means that she has a good ear for music already!

Eljay , paati madi methayadi could have been more apt & your kutty rani would have loved it. I can well understand your thrill of holding your grandchild in your arm [anubhavam pesugiradhu 😊]

Eljayma - I totally agree the joy of grant-parenthood is stress free parent hood. You don't need to worry anything other than playing taking care of the little one. Personnel anybavam illai - but I get that from my mom/Mom in law. Two of the sings I used to sing other than the normal thalattu padal are Ayarpadi maligayil thai madiyil Kandrinai pol mayakannan Thoongugiraan Aararo... & Katti Karumbe Kannamma (Will make my own words though). I remember my oder one would sleep only if I sing continuously for more than half hour.

Even today she would id the song.

on the other hand yellarukkum vandanam....
