'Sixer' ready to roll
Manish Goswami's new offering for Star One, due for launch when the channel roles out its second season in a couple of months' time, will bring back a few faces not seen of late on the telly.
Deepak Kazir, who had admitted to being tired of his 'Babuji' image and quit both Balaji shows, Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, is back with Sixer, but he isn't revealing what kind of a role he will play. On the other hand, Pawan Malhotra, best known for his Nukkad days, and last seen in Sahara's Karishma _ The Miracles of Destiny, will make his appearance as the father of the two lead protagonists in the serial.
Pawan plays the role of a middle aged businessman, Ranvir Singh, married with one son, who has had a child with another woman before his marriage. After keeping the illegitimate son in foster care for years, he now wants to claim his son back. Both the kids grow up to
be cricketers. Sixer revolves around the theme of the national passion - cricket- and features yesteryear's lead actress Rati Agnihotri for the first time on television.
Says Keerti Gaekwad, who plays Rati's daughter in law in the serial, " I had to shoot with her for the first days of the shooting, and I just kept staring at her ... she's so pretty!"
Keerti, who did two episodes of Manish Goswami's Sukanya years ago, now plays Swati, the wife of one of the cricketers, Aditya. "I am supposed to have been involved with one of them earlier, and get married to the other," she laughs.
Four episodes of the serial have been shot, and the next shoot schedule will begin next month. Rajesh Khera, Murli Sharma are among the others who will feature in this unusual soap.
