Seven-year hitch

Rohit Roy waited for seven years for Ekta Kapoor to offer him a role. But finally when she did offer him the lead role of Kuch Is Tarah, he turned it down

After Rohit Roy played Abhay in Kkusum for a short period, he waited for seven long years for another offer from the TV czarina Ekta Kapoor to act in one of her coveted soaps. His wishes were finally granted recently when Ekta messaged him and offered him the lead role in her new show, Kuch Is Tarah. Quite unexpectedly, Rohit turn down the offer.

Said a well-placed source, "Rohit always wanted to work with Ekta since her shows have worked wonders for actors' careers, especially for his brother Ronit. But no opportunity came his way. This time Ekta wanted a suave and stylish lead for her upcoming show on Sony TV, Kuch Is Tarah and Rohit fitted the bill. So, she approached Rohit. But, this time, Rohit gave her a shock by refusing her offer."

The source continued, "Rohit replied saying that he waited for this opportunity for almost seven years, but he politely refused saying he wouldn't be able to do it. Later, Ekta roped in Akashdeep Sehgal for the role."

When we contacted Rohit, he confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I got an offer from Ekta but I had to refuse it because I did not have any dates free. I have been shooting for all my projects and I am not free until March next year."

Rohit admitted that he has always wanted to work with Ekta. "All these years, people have been asking me when I would work with Ekta. And I have been telling them it that I would do so very soon. This time, she approached me and unfortunately I did not have dates," he said.

However, when we SMSed Ekta asking her whether she had offered a role to Rohit and that he had refused, she replied: "Really? When?"
