Amit Tandon ignores two-year exclusive contract with Balaji, signs Bhabhi

Amit Tandon aka Manthan in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, supposedly a true Balaji loyalist, has signed on UTV's Bhabhi to play the lead (replacing Bhanujit Sudan aka Nihal). Amit is under a two-year contract with Balaji, but has completed only a year with the production house so far. He is yet to make an official announcement about his walk-out. His track in Kyunki… is on a break currently. Also, he is busy cutting an album.

Amit is apprehensive when it comes to talking about Kyunki… and his new project. "I have no idea what will happen to my character Manthan in Kyunki… The character did earn me a lot of popularity but there are a lot of factors to be taken into account before I decide to continue playing it. As far as signing a new show is concerned, I will be in a better position to talk about it in a week's time," says Amit.

According to a source, "Amit's taken a break from Kyunki… to concentrate on his music career. Now he has signed Bhabhi to play Nihal, replacing Bhanujit Sudan. He has started shooting for Bhabhi, but has not informed Ekta yet. He plans to talk to Balaji in a week's time. For now, UTV is tight-lipped about his entry, though Amit is shooting back-to-back for the show."

Adds the source, "The production house and the channel were not happy with Bhanujit Sudan and have been searching for an apt replacement for a year now. Bhanujit was quoting a high price and his acting was not up to the mark. The production house really wanted Amit to play the character and has made sufficient changes in the character."

Doyal Som, creative head of Kyunki… said, "I have no idea about Amit doing a new show. I am sure he will talk to Ekta before stepping out of Balaji. For now his track in Kyunki… is on rest as we are focusing on Tulsi. Amit is bound by contact to Balaji. We mutually decided on taking a break for his music album." Amit's character Nihal in Bhabhi will go on air from Monday.

But if Ekta's policy as listed in https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/other-shows/636130/artical-ekta-stands-by-iqbals-ban holds true then Amit cannot work in any Star channel if he walks out of Balaji.

I was wondering how Hussain is still with Star after walking out of Balaji😕. But then I remembered that since the contract was signed recently, I think from now on they are going to be stringent in following rules. Sad for Iqbal and now Amit.

OMG... I wish him the best. I hope nothing messes up with him... leaving Ekta has proven to harm many in the industry... Like all the hurdles our sweetheart Iq is facing.

😭 😭 😭Why did Amit have to go and do that?I kinda liked his character in KSBKBT...I don't even watch Bhabhi 😡 😡!!!

I think he should be fine to leave cause his two year phase is over, it starts with their first show with balaji and his first show was KYPH, which is more then 2 years old.
