Like Bollywood, which is dominated by the Khans, television's three Khans - Iqbal, Cezanne and Eijaz - have been among the small screen's most popular actors. Idolised by fans in India and overseas, these actors were much in demand a few months ago. But recently, they are nowhere to be seen. Has their screen magic fizzled out or are they just taking a break?
Rumours are that the three have fallen out with Ekta Kapoor and hence are missing from her serials that made them famous.
Says Cezanne Khan, "I don't have an issue with the production house. I told them my problem and they understood it. I am sure if there's a interesting offer they'll consider me." He hadn't planned on taking a break. "But now that I have got it, I am not complaining," he says. "Since I was playing the lead character in Kasautii Zindagii Kay I had to be around. But when they took a generation leap, I opted out."
Iqbal Khan who took a break last December to get married, hasn't taken on any project yet after Sony's Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. "I don't regret the long break at all. I really needed it. Anything, whether it's relationship or a new project, should be given ample of time. And that's what I wanted to do," says Iqbal. Will he be back soon? "Inshallah, something should materialise in a month or so," he says.
Eijaz Khan, who was at one point acting in five serials, did the disappearing act after Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka. People close to the actor say that he is looking for a interesting role to come his way.
But all three Khans seem to be enjoying their breaks. Says Iqbal, "I have got time to concentrate on things like leading a healthier lifestyle." Cezanne adds, "It's such a pleasure to not have to look at the clock all the time."
So, fans can now look forward to seeing the trio on screen, break ke baad!
