Anchor Shonali Nagrani will add to the glam element along with host Mandira Bedi in the upcoming show 'Extraaa Innings' (MAX) that will cover the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 in October. While actor Rohit Roy will be co-presenting the entertainment segments of the show with Mandira and commentator Charu Sharma, Shonali will be on the field while the match is on. She will capture candid moments and share personal trivia on the cricketers.
Having just returned from shooting the promos in Jaipur, Shonali says, "I met cricketers Jason Gillespie, Murlidharan, Andre Nell and Virendra Sehwag. The highlight was my conversations with Murlidharan. He is amazingly funny and shared many personal insights with me. Though I was in the company of legends, they spoke to me so much more than the game."
Shonali turned to anchoring after she had to quit doing Mahesh Bhatt's film 'Zeher'. She says, "I had just moved to Mumbai and financial stability was important. Anchoring provided me with a steady pay cheque. I shoot for two hours daily for the show 'Popkorn' (Zoom) and I am going to be a part of it as long as it's on air."
In the past, Shonali has hosted a few episodes of the 'Indian Idol' and has featured in commercials and print campaigns. She rules out acting in serials, as she prefers being "the master of her time." However, she is open to a career in films in the future.
