Babul nath is the main protagonist of the serial. He is a normal middle class person who works hard for a living. his wife is baramasi and two kids bunty and babli.Big B familyđ they stay in a chawl in one room house. Though house is small and babul nath is a miser, saving every pie he has a very happy and content family. Baramasi is very skilled and creative, she makes wax candles, different stuff etc. and her friend miniben buys this stuff for throwaway price and sells to television serial producers at triple price. bari (as she is lovingly called) is so innocent that she is easily duped.
For all these years B family doesnt own a TV đ˛ ( can u believe it?) They go to buy a store and buy the smallest Tv set much to the amusement of the store owner.đđ Babul nath asks how much is the cost without the remote? shopkeeper says 500 Rs less, so babul says ok gimme without remoteđ
Now the family celebrates for new Tv set and a guy sees them and predicts that this family will get lots of money in the future and their life will change completely.đ The cableguy comes and connects the cable and says all channels are there except golden eye. he secretly tells babul nath that golden eye is po*n channel and shows a lot of bad stuff. babul vows to keep his children away from the channel.
Next they show the channel office of golden eye, its the party given for new owner. The new owner vasu gets bugged with all this sleaze stuff. he says i want to make this channel a family channel, so i need a new clean show. he says we should do a reality show on the life on a common man. something that other channels havent done. they get a new director and also consult a numerologist for selecting the common man. he says that common man normally plays lottery, so the 8th man on a particulr day will be ur man.
babul buys lottery ticket every week and his wife doesnt know. he is the eighth person that day and then vasu and his team tape that day and select babul for their serial.
vasu's team follow babul and keep hidden mike in his house. they hear all that is going on in babul's house and decide he is the best guy for their serial. then they send a fake electricity bill not being paid notice and babul goes the office and they tell him the plan and say he will get 2,00,000 rupees per month and he has to do this reality show. babul initially disagrees and then asks for 3 days to think. he goes home and thinks and he and bari have a conversation and decide they are very happy the way they are. babul tears the contract papers. but next day his daughter babli gets a bad toothache and thats when vasu thinks of enciting babul by giving him family medical coverage. he draws a new contract paper and then gives it to babul.
