Coffee with Kabir

Prologue

With the commencing of December, the air had turned slightly cold and the temperature had started to dip. With a just red coat put on, that could barely help against the chill, a girl ended her ramble walking inside a coffee caf. The letters 'Coffee with Kabir' dazzled beautifully on the welcome board of the caf at the dewy night.
She blankly pulled an empty chair at a corner and sat down. Like the dim lights that changed colors from time to time in the caf, her face too reflected a range of emotions looking at a photograph on her mobile phone. All of a sudden, the lights went off. Some people seated in the cafe complained of a power failure while other smart people used torch lights of their cell phones.
And in a mere second as if something overtook her, she carelessly threw away her mobile in anger. There was absolute dark...
Then... a bright glow replaced it.
A click of fingers in front of her by a hugely smiling handsome guy brought back the shine that was most awaited.

Coffee with Kabir

Shot 1

Then... a bright glow replaced it.
A click of fingers in front of her by a hugely smiling handsome guy brought back the shine that was most awaited.

The cafe got properly lighted again with overflowing brightness and clarity of vision.

She looked in the eyes of the grinning guy who was present opposite her and felt something captivating in his hazel brown orbs. A whistling wind that blew, added the magical touch to their eye contact.

The guy initiated in a charming yet soothing voice, "Madam zakhmi dil ya bijli ka bill,ek jaisa hota hai...agar waqt par nahi bhara, to zindagi me andhera chaa jaata hai"
And flashed yet another enchanting smile.
The girl drew her eyebrows together at his address to her. However the crowd, happy with power comeback, rejoiced and applauded the young man on his wise words.

Turning towards the crowd, he looked around and happily bowed with his hand on his heart "oh thankyou thankyou"
The girl shook her head in displeasure and got up.
"Hey sweet lady" the guy held her wrist lightly enough to be able to break the link.
She swirled instantly with a threatening glare. He left her and rose up his hands as in surrender.
"Kya hai?" She asked.
"Coffee k liye aayi thi to bina piye kyo jaa rhi ho?" He asked politely.
"Mera man...mai jo bhi karu"
He sighed digging his hands inside his pockets"Magar kam se kam is cafe ko ganda to mat karo"
"Excuse me?"
"Nah...not excused, until you throw the garbage at it's proper place" he pointed out the dashed pieces of her phone to be dumped inside the dustbin.
She rolled her eyes.
"Chota kaam karne se insaan chota nai ho jaata" he said.
"Kaam chota ya bada nai hota, kaam, kaam hota hai" She made her point.
He smiled feebly "To der kis baat ki?"
She surpassed him and bent down to collect the broken parts.
"Kitni berehmi se pheka hai tumne apna phone, ye tukde judna mushkil lagta hai" he uttered after his analysis bending beside her.
Still gathering the pieces, she said with her eyes lost in some other world "Isme to phir bhi jaan nai hai" and her face clearly showed a dent of pain.
He helped her collecting the pieces "Ye jo toote hue tukde hai" he showed her the fragments "Tumhare dil k hai" he stopped speaking to grasp her reaction.
She remained quiet seemingly absorbed in deep thoughts.
He chuckled and took the pieces gathered by her from her hands. His touch brought her back to reality. She looked at him with questioning eyes.
"Ye sab mere ho gye ab" He smiled.
He continued raising himself up"Vo kya hai naa mujhe jigsaw bohot pasand hai "he winked, swirled and soon disappeared in the crowd.
She got up and blinked twice processing the conversation in her brain that took place. Then his words echoed in her mind.
"Ye jo toote hue tukde hai... tumhare dil k hai... Ye sab mere ho gye ab"

She shook her head brushing off the subtle revealed fact.
As she turned a waiter holding a tray called her"madam aapka order"
"Maine koi order place nai kia" she clarified.
"Par..." the waiter sounded confused.
"Par kya?"
"Ye bill" he displayed the bill receipt.
She took a close look at the receipt and found the customer's name printed as Kabir.
She frowned"I'm not Kabir"
The waiter, unable to comprehend her words and actions, read the bill. He grinned,"Coffee khaas aapke liye bani hai, le lijiye"
"Mere liye?" She questioned in amazement.
"Ha madam, sir ne bill bhi pay kar dia h aapka"
"Kaun sir?"
"Vo aapke saath the na abhi? Vo sir hain"
She waggled her head sideways, "par mujhe nai-"
The waiter cut her in placing the tray on the table beside her,"Have a nice day madam" and left for taking orders by others.
With a flipping mind, she settled down in a dilemma whether to accept the coffee from a stranger. As she looked down at the coffee, a faint smile touched her lips. The cappuccino had a creamy layer of froth forming a heart.

She saw there was a tissue paper underneath the mug that had something written over it. She took it out thinking the sender must be the guy who went away with her broken mobile.

"Tumhara toota hua dil to maine rakh lia
Aur dekho brand new dil de raha hu, vo bhi absolutely free...Rakh lo ; -)"

She chuckled reading it and searched for the guy scrutinizing the surroundings.

A shiver ran down her body as another blow of cold wind grazed her. The hot coffee with the vapours appeared a tempting option to her at the moment.
She sipped the coffee feeling the spiralling warmth inside her. Her eyes got closed involuntarily savouring the delectable drink.

She opened her eyes harbouring the relief only to see the same boy looking intently at her. He sat facing her with the chair turned in opposite direction such that the back of the chair was in front of her. He rested his chin at the edge and crossed his hands against the support...not to forget his contagious grin.

"Why are you sitting here?" She chirped keeping the empty mug aside.
He showed his teeth and raised his face up," How was the coffee?"
"Good " she acknowledged.
"Just good? " He frowned.
She chuckled at his expressions, "Fine, it was awesome"
His face lit up again, "Thanks"
She asked while unzipping her purse,"how much?"
"One lac only "
She shifted her eyes to him, "What ?"
He laughed tapping his palm at the table.
She stared at him.
"Ohkay" he tried to compose himself keeping his fist on his pursed lips.
She raised her brow as he was still trying hard to suppress his laugh but giggles escaped his mouth.
He finally took a long breath and smiled"Tumhare liye free hai aaj...lucky customer!"
"I'm paying" she insisted.
"You paid already"
"I didn't"
"It costed just a lovely smile from a lovely girl" he beamed.
"Baat to aise kar rahe ho jaise maalik ho is dukaan ke"
"Haan hu" he smirked.
Her smile got crooked.
"Hmm...shayad tumne dhyan nai dia. Coffee with Kabir naam hai cafe ka & I'm Kabir"
"Nice joke" she clapped in sarcasm.
"You aren't believing me? I paid for the coffee, you desire more eh"he danced his brows up and down.
"No! Thank you very much and I can still pay if you want" she looked away.
"Itna mat dukhi ho, tum par khushi bohot khilti hai. Your Smile is your power" he nodded.
"Your Smile is your power" the words told to her by that special someone who broke her heart.
Gloom rippled on her face. A tint of pain marked its beginning again as a tear drop from corner of her eyes. She quickly gathered herself wiping it's trace.
"Kachra chala gaya hoga aankh me hai na? " he asked slightly sad.
She wanted to chuckle on the cliche but felt bound by the walls of hurt.
She nodded not looking at him.
"Tumhara kachra to mai le gaya tha, I mean vo toote tukde? Mai le to gya tha naa unhe...Ab kaunsa kachra chala gya tumhari aankh me?Aakhir Kitne kachre rakhti ho apne andar?"
She looked at him unhappy.
"Cleaniless is Godliness you know " he briefly shut his eyes to state the fact.
Here she was trying hard to hold herself not to break down at each of his sentence and he was going on speaking invoking more pain to her. As her eyes welled up at his last words, she was about to voice out her feelings mixed in tears but the very moment a waiter interupted"Sir vo 8 baj gaye hai aur vo..." the waiter fidgeted his fingers in fear.
"Kya vo?" The guy asked turning his face to the waiter.
The girl looked away letting the drops course down her cheek.
The waiter whispered something in his ears. "Bas itni si baat?" The guy patted the waiter's shoulder who seemed baffled by the guy's words.
The guy got up and started walking away the table but stopped abruptly and swiveled.
"Suno... meri baatein maanlo ek baar...sirf ek baar" he urged and disappeared again. She didn't look at him not having the courage to fight back the tears anymore. Yet she heard his words but couldn't get what he was talking about.

-----------------------------------------------------*Music*--------------------------------------------------------------------

In a while, the lights went dim and a spotlight was showered on stage. Losing her control that she managed until the moment, her weeps turned into bitter crying.

She knew that she had to let go of the pain safely hidden inside her otherwise that pain would stifle her living. She has to be strong in front of her family no matter what actually her condition is. Her family had always supported and loved her.
They build their confidence on her. She cannot let them see her broken like this.
The tears rolled down again as she shut her eyes.

Bikhri bikhri si zulfein hai kyu?
Khoyi khoyi si aankhein hai kyu?
Gum ka yeh pal guzar jaayega,
Phir koi humsafar aayega...

She looked up sniffing, to find the same guy singing under the spot light with a guitar in hand seated on a small shiny highly elevated base.
Her eyes automatically got locked with his. Something was there in his eyes that spoke more than the lyrics.

Bikhri bikhri si zulfein hai kyu?
Khoyi khoyi si aankhein hai kyu?
Gum ka yeh pal guzar jaayega,
Phir koi humsafar aayega...

He asserted the lyrics looking at her so strongly that she felt right to believe that would surely come true.

------------------------------------------------*Music*----------------------------------------------------------------------

Her eyes fluttered as past moments reeled in front of her eyes.
For the special someone, she had transformed herself to a totally different person from the one she was. She hated lying but still lied numerous times. She hated attending late night parties but still attended many. She hated wearing extra make ups but still wore. She hated leaving her family outing but still left them only to be by his side.
Yet she just got back accusations...baseless accusations.

She pulled out a crushed red rose from her pocket and observed it placing it on the table. The petals had lost their original colour. They looked grey, tattered and lifeless.
He steadily reached to her and she moved her eyes to him as she understood that the spotlight was nearing her.
He smiled looking at her and continued the song.

Beete pal bhool jaa,
Wo pal nahi hai kahin,

He advanced towards her and sat on the chair next to hers.

Laayenge pal naye,
Ek zindagi fir haseen,

He then looked into her eyes.

Yeh bheegi palkein utha,
Yeh soch ke muskura,
Laayega fir samay koi zamana aisa yahan,

He took out something from his pocket and kept it on the crushed rose.

Phir chalegi hawa manchali,
Phir se mehkegi koi kali,
Phir koi humsafar aayega,

She breathed heavily looking at the fresh red rose kept by him. She turned her gaze to him and he smiled wide singing the song.

Dil koi geet phir gaayega...

---------------------------------------------------*Music*--------------------------------------------------------------------

He got up playing the guitar looking at the crowd seated at the tables.

Raat lambi sahi,
Phir bhi yeh ek raat hai,

He walked across and around them... pulling a little girl's cheek candidly, hi-5ing with a gentleman, sporting his charming smile to the ladies.

Subah ho jaayegi,
Sau baton ki baat hai,
Phir jaagegi yeh fizaa,

He swirled abruptly and pointed his finger to her.

Phir dil ka ek raasta,
Le jaayega wahin tujhe,
Teri tay manzil jahan,

He happily questioned to her.

Sach to yeh hai ki hona hai yu,
To in aankhoin mein aansoo hai kyu?
Gum naa kar tu jo murjha gaye,
Phool khil jaayenge phir naye...

He flashed his eyes to the fresh red rose kept on the table, the top petals of which played with the breeze.

-----------------------------------------------------------*Music*---------------------------------------------------------------

She looked at him with straight lips though she had totally stopped crying. He kept on looking at her with a light smile till the people present in the cafe applauded in appreciation.
"Thanks" he grinned "kisiko besura laga kya?" He asked frankly.
A bunch of boys sitting at the corner laughed. He winked at them. A teenage girl reached him with a dreamy face, "Autograph please "
He chuckled, "Interested in a selfie?"
She excitedly said "Yes yes!"
And the duo clicked one.
Another man reached to him,"Accha gaa lete ho, mujhe zaroorat hai ek singer ki, ye lo mera card, baad me contact karunga "
He took the offered visiting card and expressed, "feeling proud that you liked it sir"
The man left.
The lights had returned to their full brightness till then.
He addressed the cafe grinning "Hope you all enjoyed today! Everyone is whole heartedly welcomed to have coffee with me aka Coffee with Kabir. Open all days morning 8 to 11 of the night. Jab man kare tab aa jao aur naa kare...to bhi aa sakte ho" he smirked.
Satisfied with his speech he then turned to face the girl who he wanted to smile from bottom of his heart. But she wasn't there. His eyes flickered to the rose still lying on the table. He heard the creek voice of opening door and found her going out. He immediately strode towards her grasping the rose midway.

Outside the cafe, he looked both sides and finding her walking away, he ran to her.
"Tum kuch bhul gayi" he opened his palm, that had the rose, before her and she halted at his sudden appearance.

"Nai chahiye" she said ignoring to look at him.
He looked in her eyes that now reflected sheer determination. A contented smile lingered over his lips.
"Haath hatao" she said still not lookingat him.
"Hata lunga, pehle muskurao to sahi" he urged with a soft smile moving to face her.
As her eyes met his, she quickly moved them away and uttered, "nahi muskurana"
And moved ahead of him.
"See you tomorrow"he chirped.
He looked at her silhouette till it vanished.
A tap at his shoulder made him to tear his gaze and look the other side.
There stood the waiter who had told him that a singer has turned down the offer to sing at their caf and so the event mentioned at 8 at the cafe had to be called off.
The waiter sighed "madam to maan hi nai rahi"
"Sun nahi rahi lekin samjha dunga" He said and sported a dazzling smile with shine eminent in his eyes.

To be continued...
