CHAPTER 2 (a) : A NIGHTMARE... OR A WARNING?!

We are walking down the St.Marks road just like we had yesterday. When we passed infront of the gate of Vaz Villa', a woman who I later deduced must be in her mid-thirties based on her appearance, came in front of us all of a sudden, making Kirti yelp in surprise. The woman has worn a pale yellow long skirt which almost swept the ground. She has paired it with a pale green full sleeve top. There is a strange glow emanating from her. I cannot see her face because of the glow but, her beautiful light brown orbs are having a hypnotising effect on me. She passes through Kirti who was standing in front of her and reaches me. Wait!! Did she just pass 'through' Kirti? What the... my mind is unable to complete its ramble as it has surrendered to the those beautiful orbs of hers! Although I cannot see her face, I don't know why, but I feel like she's smiling at me! Gosh! i've gone insane! And the next few moments are all a blur! It's like I'm sleepwalking. She held my left hand and is taking me towards a house! A house? Shit! She's taking me towards the Vaz Villa'. We are now standing in front of the main door of the house with her still holding my hand. As soon as she opened the door, a blinding light hit my eyes and her grip on my hand tightened to an unbearable extent, causing me to cry out in pain and suffocation as i felt like my life is being sucked out of me, and then all went blank.

"NISHA!!!, wake up!!" i hear some voices calling out my name asking me to wake up. Wake up?! What?! I snap open my eyes to see a concerned Kabir and Umesh bhaiya bent over me with a glass of water in hand, which was to be splashed on my face I guess, if I hadn't woken up in another second. So, was that all just a dream? But...

"What's wrong with you Nisha?! First you sleep like a log and then start screaming in your sleep as though some-one is after your life!" said a frowning Kabir, interrupting my thoughts.

"I just had a bad dream i guess! And i don't sleep like a log ok? It's just today, because I was damn tired yesterday!" I said, feeling offended that Kabir compared me to a log! Ugh that duffer!.

"You're ok na Nishu?", asked a concerned Umesh bhaiya, putting the glass of water back on the side table.

Of course bhaiya! I'm absolutely fine. But where is everyone?" I asked looking around.

"Oh madam, just because you don't have anything to do doesn't mean others too are jobless like you and..." an angry glare from me was enough to shut my hubby's mouth.

"Saurav has gone for the meeting, Dolly to college and Sukku and Kirti have gone to roam around and do some shopping. Ok now go fresh up and get ready real quick so that we can go have lunch. Everyone will be back by 5." said Umesh bhaiya.

Lunch?! That's when I glanced at the wall clock to see it was half past 12 in the noon! Without wasting another minute, I freshened up, got ready quickly and we headed out to have our lunch.

We had our lunch in MTR, a famous hotel in Bangalore for South Indian cuisine. The MTR hotel is right next to the compound of Vaz Villa'. After lunch, Kabir and Umesh bhaiya decided to go back to the room and take a nap before the gang returns in the evening, much to my dismay. So, I decided to laze around the area for a while and do some window shopping before returning back to the room.Umesh bhaiya and Kabir have gone a few feet ahead, where as I am rooted to the spot observing the haunted Villa in broad daylight. The Villa has compound walls of medium height which can be jumped over with a few tries and an old rusty, deformed gate. A part of the wall in the corner of the compound has crumbled down and is now a garbage dumping site!. The Villa looks like a two storeyed house from outside. The walls of the Villa are charred maybe due to a fire encounter and parked in the ruins of what would have been a portico, is an old broken down Hillman Minx car. The weedy stretch of land in front of the house suggests that it would have once been a beautiful garden. The wild trees that have grown around the Villa, gives it a spooky effect like in the movies.

"What say Nishu? Shall we go camping here tonight? Since, it looks like this place has captivated you?" joked Umesh bhaiya, who had joined me along with Kabir.

"Yes, bhaiya that's a good idea! But, I want to know the history of this place first.", I said.

"Done then!, you dig out its history, while I inform the rest about our spooky adventure tonight", said an excited Umesh bhaiya, in a ghostly manner.

"What?!! are you guys nuts? What if there is a real bloodthirsty ghost in there?!" asked a frightened Kabir.

"We'll find out tonight!!" said Umesh bhaiya and I together breaking into uncontrollable laughter seeing Kabir's panic stricken face, much to his irritation.
